2006 Bmw M5 Base Sedan 4-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Mableton, Georgia, United States
I am selling my beloved E60 M5 as i need a 7 passenger car. This car is an absolute joy to drive and addictive!!!. The level of gawking and attention from strangers is a little nuts. Full disclosure, a perviously dented bumper was replaced with a new one by the prior owner of the car, you may see it reported on carfax.
A little history: The E60 M5 took the title of the most powerful midsize sport sedan when first released in 2005 and was considered by many testers and magazines to be the best sedan in the world. The BMW M5 was introduced with a 5.0L V10 engine sporting aluminum block and heads, forged crankshaft, individual throttle bodies and infinitely variable valve control. Yielding 507hp and 520 ftlb torque the M5 V10 won several engine design awards in 2006: International Engine of the year, Best Performance Engine and Best Above 4.0 Liter awards for four consecutive years. The M5 engine is controlled by a 7 speed SMG sequential automated manual transmission. Stiffened chassis, monster brakes, DSC stability control, 19" wheels and tires gave stock E60 M5 performance specs 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds with an electronically governed top speed. This E60 M5 features several F1 inspired engine and transmission controls including launch control and the option to drive in automatic or manual as well as to control the speed at which shifts are completed. Manual shifting can be done with either a console shifter, or the steering wheel mounted shift paddles. The E60 interior is trimmed in unmistakable luxury with soft and supple leather seating. Everything inside the car feels quite solid with all knobs and switches feeling very German to the touch. Interior I Drive interface controls have enough gadgets and options to satisfy the serious geek as well as gear head combining efficiency with emotion. This is the last generation of M5's with a V10 Engine from BMW. |

Rolls-Royce sketching out SUV for possible 'late 2017' release
Wed, 14 May 2014With each new story on the Rolls-Royce SUV, the Goodwood automaker comes off as more at ease with their reluctantly birthed yet necessary sport ute. Company design chief Giles Taylor told Autocar that his team is still "sketching to assess the viability of the concept," which to ours ears means they're trying to figure out if such a beast is even possible within the confines of the brand. If it is, Taylor says it will be "a shooting brake, not a crossover with a sloping roof. A proper SUV."
A different company source, unnamed, seems confident that Taylor's team will figure it out, telling the magazine it would start at 200,000 pounds ($335K US). However, that same source said the vehicle will be "a kind of Mercedes-GLK-plus-plus," which is a baffling description in several ways. More reasonable is the speculation that it will ride on Ghost, not Phantom, architecture and make its debut sometime around late 2017.
That Ghost platform is expected to take cues from the carbon, aluminum and steel bones that supported the BMW Vision Future Luxury concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show and destined for the 9 Series. Some of those tricks will also go into the next-generation Phantom, which Autocar says will come in 2017 and not 2020.
Car subscription services: A slow, expensive start — but the potential is huge
Wed, Dec 26 2018Americans are used to paying for subscriptions — to magazines and cable television, for instance — but experience shows they'll cancel when the price of admission gets too high, or there are more tempting alternatives. Cord cutters ditched nearly 1.5 million pay-TV subscriptions in 2017, according to a survey by Leichtman Research Group. Cable TV started out cheap with basic offerings, and then got expensive. The auto industry's subscription offerings are new, but they're starting out costly, and not price-competitive with traditional leasing. The upside is that they take the hassle out of car ownership for busy people by letting the service take care of maintenance, insurance, licensing and taxes. And they give consumers choice, often allowing relatively painless switches between different cars in the automakers' lineup. Subscription services also point the way toward an ownership-free auto experience, and offer an easy transition to a potential world where ride- and car-sharing will be dominant. Subscriptions are here to stay, but consumers may take a while to "get" them. Lincoln's subscription service for lightly used 2015 to 2017 models, offered through the Ford-owned Canvas beginning this year, got off to a slow start. Many early subscribers canceled. Last month, Cadillac announced it would " temporarily pause" its $1,800-per-month Book subscription service for "adjustments" as of December 1. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Snags with the back-end technology used to support the service made some customer-service functions tedious and time-consuming, adding costs for the company." The challenge for automakers is to come up with a strategy that offers consumers a compelling, affordable option to regular ownership, and one that can also make a profit. I think they'll find that sweet spot, but they're not there yet. Jack Nerad, former executive editorial director at Kelley Blue Book and author of " The Complete Idiot's Guide to Buying or Leasing a Car," points out that "A lot of people expected that subscriptions would be very valuable for people who wanted inexpensive transportation, but the reality is quite the opposite. Subscriptions are offering more choices for the wealthy.
BMW web sales plan opposed by German dealers
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Tesla isn't the only manufacturer that is facing a backlash over its plans to sell cars directly to customers. BMW is under fire from its German dealerships over its desire to sell its cars via the internet.
BMW has plans to sell the new i3 through the World Wide Web, while a "Mobile Sales Force" will be making house calls. According to Automotive News Europe, Head of German Sales Roland Krueger told German weekly Wirtschaftswoche, "We can imagine that Internet sales could be expanded to all models." This is the particular caveat that has traditional brick-and-mortar dealers so up in arms.
According to the head of BMW's German dealerships Werner Entenmann, "We told BMW in no uncertain terms that we cannot accept direct sales channels." Reuters reports that an anonymous dealer has gone so far as to pledge not to use the sales force in Germany. Krueger, for what it's worth, told Wirtschaftswoche that the "backbone" of BMW sales will still be traditional dealerships.
