About the car…
Purchased this car with about 1,000 miles on the odometer back in 2001 and although well cared for, it was primarily a garage queen for most of its early life. The car has been very well maintained and I have a nearly complete service history. There is a well documented "progression" on M5board.com as well. It’s had all major intervals completed as well as a number of preventative measures taken. It’s driven with equal care and has never been abused or left for neglect. There are well over $20,000 of aftermarket and performance modifications done. All modifications are quality parts and absolutely no corner cutting has been made in any of the work done on this car. A small handful of highly experienced and well reputed people have helped me build it over the years. This car has been my love affair for a very long time, it still gets compliments on a regular basis, and more important than anything else it is so, so much fun to drive. Unfortunately, age and new priorities mean that it simply doesn’t have the space in my life that it used to. Very difficult to let it go but the time has come. I will be fully transparent in divulging the history and current condition of the car to all prospective buyers and as such, the few flaws are listed below…

· Minor paint defects as any thirteen year old car would have

o Some rock chips on the hood, small scratches on the cars roof and rear bumper. Overall paint quality is good with the exception of a few small details. From 10feet or 10mph it looks perfect

· Rear window spoiler needs to be re-painted. It is a genuine ACS part (very rare) that I purchased second hand in 2011 and it was originally silver. The previous owner painted it Jet Black before sending it to me, but did not prime it before painting and overtime the paint has bubbled and began to crack. I’ve had this job quoted out to just a couple hundred dollars

· Very minor curb rash on front passenger wheel - repairable

· Interior rear-view mirror has the very common “tint bubble”, but is not currently, and has never leaked. It’s been this way for almost 7 years now and has never bothered me. In any event, this can be repaired for $100

*Note*
o For those not interested in the louder exhaust, I still have my stock mufflers and can include them in the sale of the vehicle.
o OEM set of style 65 wheels included if desired. They are not perfect, and have some residual plasti-dip on them.

I will not part anything out. Some negotiations can be made in terms of whether or not buyer would prefer the above items were addressed prior to purchase, or if the car was taken as-is. Serious offers only, would prefer local sale (pacific north west). Photos below - I'll add some interior pics soon.

Any and all costs and logistical needs related to transport of vehicle are at buyers additional responsibility and expense.

On Location in California with BMW and Mini

Thu, Feb 25 2016

A mid-winter escape from frigid Michigan to drive a trio of new BMW and Mini products? It'd be a busy couple of days, but you can't argue with Southern California in February. The temperatures in LA, where we drove the Mini Cooper S Convertible, hovered in the mid-80s, and it was solidly in the 70s further north, at Monterey, where we drove the M2 and X4 M40i. The highlight of the trip was Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which is a rewarding track to drive in a street car. The M2 was a blast there. The canyon roads above Malibu in the Mini were a close second, but even the lazy drive down the PCH to Big Sur was a blast. More important is the California state of mind we were in when driving all three of these cars. I've spent a lot of time in this state, and it has a complicated relationship with the car – and there's also a huge difference in attitude between the greater Bay Area and Southern California. Ample sun and twisty roads clash with image-consciousness, eco-consciousness, and brutal urban gridlock, and each BMW dealt with that paradox admirably, in its own way. Take a quick jaunt to California with me and check out the locations and experiences that helped form our impressions of these vehicles: the 2016 BMW M2 First Drive, the 2016 Mini Cooper S Convertible First Drive, and the 2016 BMW X4 M40i Quick Spin.

BMW strategy gets green with future i8 Roadster, PHEV Mini

Wed, Mar 16 2016

Recent concepts like the Vision Next 100 have signaled BMW's plan to become a leader in automotive tech in the near future, but the Bavarian automaker added some concrete details to that strategy during the company's annual press conference. The business promises there are updated i models and more plug-in hybrids on the way, and a vehicle called the iNext could bring an autonomous EV to the road early next decade. Before we see any completely new vehicles, look for BMW to refine its current green models. Later this year, the i3 will get a larger battery capacity, which will increase the hatchback's range. After seemingly endless teasing, the BMW i8 Roadster will finally arrive in 2018, according to a slide during the conference. The company will also launch a plug-in hybrid Mini, but it didn't give a specific arrival date. At the beginning of the next decade, BMW will also introduce a fully autonomous i model. At the beginning of the next decade, BMW will also introduce a fully autonomous i model, which it currently calls the iNext. "BMW iNEXT heralds the next era of mobility," company CEO Harald Kruger said. "This symbol of our technology leadership will demonstrate how we will bring the future of mobility into series production." BMW refers to its research into autonomous driving as Project i 2.0. Just as the initial development of the i models led to better EV tech and innovations in carbon fiber, the new undertaking should result in improvements to networked motoring and driverless tech for the iNext. The company plans to focus on high definition digital maps, sensor technology, cloud technology, and artificial intelligence. The company's product plan for the i range doesn't show any vehicles between the i8 Roadster in 2018 and the iNext early next decade. Perhaps the new model is the fruition of the many rumors about a family-oriented i5. As BMW eyes the future, it still sees the combustion engine as an important tool for the present, and there are still more traditional models to look forward to. Without offering any details, BMW promises more M models are under development. The larger X7 CUV will also arrive soon, and there'll possibly be even more crossovers, too. "We are also taking an in-depth look at the additional potential of this highly attractive segment," Kruger said.

BMW and Roland Sands show off Concept 101 custom bagger

Tue, May 26 2015

Though BMW may not be the first motorcycle manufacturer that comes to mind when you think of cruisers, that's precisely what the German marque has unveiled – in concept form at least – at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este this year. Appearing alongside the 3.0 CSL Hommage concept, the BMW Concept 101 is a custom "bagger" created in California through a collaboration between BMW Motorrad, BMW Designworks, and legendary bike builder Roland Sands. Better suited towards cruising down the highway than carving up a racetrack or a dirt trail, the Concept 101 strikes a rather stunning (if uncharacteristic) form. The elongated shape is rendered in materials like brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, and wood trim, tapering towards the rear that encompasses two hard saddle bags characteristic of this style of cruiser. The top half of the bike is done up in lighter shades than the dark bottom, capped by a saddle crafted in fine-grain black leather, perforated black leather and a strip of brown leather. Power comes commandingly from an inline-six displacing 1.6 liters – or about 101 cubic inches, which along with Highway 101, gives the concept bike its name. The engine breaths out through a pair of tailpipes, each with three outlets to emphasize the six-cylinder and envision what it would look like if Munich opted to take on the Honda Gold Wing F6C Valkyrie. Of course this isn't the first time BMW has done a bike with Roland Sands, nor the first time it's displaying a bike concept at Villa d'Este. Last year the German marque displayed the Concept Roadster at the same show, and did the Concept Ninety with the same custom shop at the previous year's concours. BMW Motorrad "Concept 101" - The Spirit of the Open Road. Munich/Cernobbio. Every year, the most impressive representatives of the mobile past and future on both two and four wheels assemble at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este for a very special get-together on the shores of Lake Como. Amid this extraordinary blend of the traditional and the contemporary, BMW Motorrad once again presents a breathtaking concept study: the BMW Motorrad "Concept 101". "The Concept 101 opens up a new chapter in the history of our concept bikes. It is the BMW Motorrad interpretation of endless highways and the dream of freedom and independence - the perfect embodiment of "American touring". Designing this big touring bike study was amazingly exciting for us because we haven't been involved with a motorcycle concept like this before.
