Well maintained E34 M5. For starters : Replaced clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder, resealed final drive unit, Installed M-Technic springs with Bilstein struts & replaced various suspension components through out the years as needed. Brembo rotors with steel braided lines, Conti DWS tires, Conforti chip, free flow factory exhaust set up, motor mounts, upgraded to S50 timing chain tensioner, upgraded A/C to R134, full tune up with cap, rotor, plugs & wires, headlight module, shimmed valves and synchronized throttle bodies, replaced steering box with OEM unit from BMW dealer plus more. I owned this vehicle since December of 2001 & always stayed on top of it's needs. Runs & drives great with a nice audio/video sound system. Last year I upgraded the A/C system but for some reason the hot & cold mix on the passeger side. Drivers side blows cold. Needs new headliner and has some exterior scratches & dings. The dent doc could take care of the dings and the paint still holds it's own. But in some areas the clear is worn. Pics don't show it though. Leather interior is in good shape as well.  Love this car but it is time to part. Have a family and other priorities now.

Forza Motorsport profiles courageous paralyzed racer

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

It's easy to look at racing video games as just a time waster or a hobby. In reality, though, they're often powerful tools for aspiring racers to learn tracks, race craft and how to set up a car in an easily accessible, risk-free environment. We aren't just talking about proper computer-based sims, like iRacing. Console-based racers like Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo provide a test bed for racers of all sorts.
For Mario Bonfante, Jr., a former motorcycle racer that was involved in a brutal accident that left him in a wheelchair with only limited use of his arms, Forza is a bit more. It allows him to perfect the setup of his personal racecar, a heavily modified E46 BMW M3, complete with hand controls.
Check out Mario's inspiring story.

Why BMWs are cheaper than Hyundais in Korea

Sat, 18 May 2013

Bloomberg reports shifting tariff regulations have upended the traditional automotive pecking order in Korea. Thanks to cheaper import taxes, foreign brands have seen market share jump from 28 percent to 41 percent over the last two years. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi have all capitalized on the shift, with domestics like Hyundai and Kia suffering at the hands of their German rivals.
Taxes on European imports have fallen from 8 percent in 2011 to just 3.2 percent today. Over the next few years, tariffs will all but be eliminated for most imports, and taxes on US-made vehicles are expected to fall to just 4 percent in 2014. By 2016, that number will be zero. Needless to say, Hyundai and Kia are concerned about the shift.
Hyundai has seen profit fall by 15 percent last quarter, and the company says it is on pace to see the slowest sales growth since 2007. The company's shares have fallen by 12 percent. In order to stem the losses, Hyundai has discounted its midsize sedans and started working on diesel engine options.

BMW recalling 1 Series ActiveE over bad drivetrain housing

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

There are always growing pains when automakers introduce new technologies. BMW is learning this with the electric powetrain used on the 2011 BMW ActiveE. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about half of the all-electric 1 Series coupes currently in the hands of the public are being recalled for a potential problem that could leave the cars stranded.
With 700 ActiveE models running around the US, 360 of these cars have insufficient sealing between the electric motor and transmission, which could lead to premature wear to the connection between the two, which in turn could result in a loss of propulsion. BMW started notifying affected owners by phone earlier this month.
While no automaker wants a recall on its hands, it's much better for BMW to learn such a lesson now on the low-production, lease-only ActiveE ahead of the car's successor, the BMW i3, which is expected to be a much higher-volume EV. Scroll down for the official recall notification.
