Here is a chance to own a rare 6 speed manual transmission BMW M3 E46 with Dinan stage 3 supercharger plus lots of other Dinan goodies. The supercharger is no longer available to this model M3 making this set up even more rare and hard to find. The car is very well sorted, garage kept, adult owned and meticulously maintained. The body exterior and convertible top are basically flawless and the interior looks almost new. Everything cosmetically is original and even the driver seat still looks great.

$22000+ has been spent on DINAN parts (fully documented) to upgrade the performance of this BMW. I have set what I feel to be a REASONABLE RESERVE on this car.

I've owned this supercharged M3 Dinan for the past 5 1/2 years and the car has been solid and reliable. I've had no problems whatsoever. Every switch, gauge, gadget, etc, aftermarket or factory are in perfect working order. All maintenance is up to date. It's been one of the most reliable cars I've owned. I've always been a BMW enthusiast and have owned 6 BMWs over the years. The car has always been adult owned and driven.

I have a clear, lien free North Carolina title in hand for the car.

The Dinan stage 3 upgrades are bulletproof and add plenty of power and performance. This car has the 6 speed manual transmission and is extremely fun to drive. I have receipts and documentation for all upgrades totaling over $22,000. That means- $22,000 spent on top of the purchase price of the car. Hard to believe, but true. Everything was professionally done approximately 6 years ago at Knoxville Performance by the previous owner and again, NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER in the past 5 1/2 years I've owned the car. I have all receipts for routine maintenance as well. The car is very fast and tight with an excellent top end. The upgrades are too extensive to list completely, but I do have full documentation for everything done.

The car basically looks stock outside except for the large red calipers, Dinan exhaust, 6000K HID headlights and HID fog lamps, wheel spacers to give the factory wheels a more aggressive offset and red halo angel eyes which are easily disabled if this isn’t your taste. I've added an MP3 input jack to the factory Harmon Kardon stereo as well.

The car needs absolutely nothing and is in immaculate condition inside and out. I've mainly used the car for roadtrips and vacationing and the mileage is low for the year. All maintenance is up to date and I've always run the BMW recommended Castrol 10w 60 full synthetic oil.

The exterior is Imola red and as far as I know, only available to the M3 and not the regular 3 series. The leather heated seats are nearly mint and have never been "restored" or dyed like most of the dealers do. The car is tight, handles very well, doesn't rattle or burn or leak any oil. The steering is smooth and doesn't shake or pull. Power is excellent and comes on strong with the boost. IN OTHER WORDS, the car runs and drives like new (actually, better than new.) The car has all factory options offered when new.

I have a documented dyno test for the car that showed 452 engine HP and 352 at the rear wheels.

Here are some of the major items that have been upgraded:
Dinan supercharger
Dinan M3 exhaust
Dinan high flow throttle bodies
Stoptech front calipers and brakes front and back
Dinan pedal set
intercooler / intake upgrade / airbox upgrade
wheel spacers
Autometer boost and air /fuel gauges mounted on the A pillar
aluminum radiator
new Clutchmasters clutch / aluminum flywheel
CCFL angel eyes / new 6000K HID headlight and foglight bulbs, new clear headlight lenses (from BMW)
MP3 factory radio adapter

I’m doing some slight downsizing and parting with several of my toys so the M3 has to go. The new owner will be extremely impressed with the performance of the car as I always have been. It’s a real head turner and I get lots of compliments when I drive it. Just today when I was taking photos out on the driveway, a curious passer by stopped to ask a few questions about the car. It definitely stands out in a sea of stock Hondas and imports. It’s good to be just a little different and left of center in my book.

I have a full carfax report on hand as well as documentation for maintenance and upgrades. I’m including a nice BMW matching key fob and BMW touch up paint as well. On the carfax report, a minor accident was reported back in 2008. I questioned this when I purchased the car and found out that it was simply a front bumper cover replaced due to a small incident while the car was being test driven at the dealership. I can’t tell that any work was done, though. No bondo anywhere, just bolt on. Everything lines up perfectly. All gaps, etc are perfect. This was a very well done repair. The body is extremely nice and the only “flaws” that I can find are some small stone chips on the lower front spoiler, most of which, I’ve touched up. This is typical wear for the age of the car.

You’re welcome to stop by and test drive / inspect the car during the auction or set up an appointment to have a mechanic of your choice inspect the car at your expense. I’m selling the car as is in sound condition and it would be your responsibility to check everything out in person if you wish. Again, the car has a clear title in my name. I’m a private seller, not a dealer. This car has been my baby. I’ve set a REASONABLE RESERVE ON THE CAR. E46 M3's are getting rarer and hard to find in this condition. I’ll do my best to answer any questions accurately and as quickly as possible. Overall, its an exceptionally nice car and in my opinion, would be hard to find a nicer E46.

A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction’s end. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction’s end by certified cashier's check or cash. If you bid and win the auction, please be prepared to make payment and pick up the car. By winning this auction, you have entered into a contract to buy the car. I have the right to refuse bids from bidders with no or low feedback ratings. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell and stop the auction if sold locally. It is my intent to let the auction run until the end, though. I can help with shipping if the winning bidder needs assistance.

THANKS FOR LOOKING!

2016 BMW X5 M is big and bold, not beautiful

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Awesome as it is, the BMW X5 M has never really been an attractive machine. Big and bulgy are the themes here, and that's only more pronounced with the X5's most recent refresh. But no matter, the X5 M has never been about looks - for this machine, it's all about performance, and BMW's hi-po crossover absolutely delivers in this regard.
Under the hood is the familiar 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8, though power has been boosted to 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque - healthy increases of 12 and 53, respectively, compared to the outgoing model. Hitting 60 miles per hour is said to take just four seconds, which is damn impressive considering this thing weighs well over 5,000 pounds.
But the X5 M has always been shockingly good to drive, with limits you'll never reach except in the most hardcore track scenarios (which we'd really like to see, by the way). It's not the prettiest thing ever, but that's okay. It's not exactly cheap, though, with prices starting at $99,650. Woof.

Kitten rides 300 miles in Royal Navy pilot's BMW

Fri, Jun 17 2016

The Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, has a new recruit–a tiny kitten named Tigger. According to the Royal Navy Online, Lieutenant Nick Grimmer flew in to Birmingham Airport after a vacation refreshed and ready to return to duty. Grimmer, who flies sub hunting Merlin Mk2 helicopters for the Fleet Air Arm's 814 Squadron, then hopped in his BMW and drove 300 miles to his post at Royal Navy Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall. The next day, he heard a quiet, feeble meowing coming from somewhere in his car and began to investigate. "I looked in the boot, under the bonnet, and climbed all over and under it and still couldn't find what was making the noise," Grimmer told Royal Navy Online. "I called up some of our air engineers who came and helped me to start dismantling my pride and joy. On taking off the rear bumper we were greeted with a tiny tiger-striped kitten." Since he was already dangerously close to being late for duty, Lt. Grimmer had no choice but to take his new friend with him to work. His squadronmates, delighted by their newest recruit, named him Tigger in honor of the squadron's nickname–the Flying Tigers. After his harrowing journey in the BMW, Tigger has been a little anxious and unwilling to leave his savior's side. "The place he has felt most comfortable is in my flying helmet, which is the only place he is able to sleep," said Grimmer. "We are more than happy to adopt Tigger as a mascot," Commander Brendan Spoors, CO of the squadron, told Royal Navy. "After all, it's a tradition for Royal Navy units to have a ship's cat!" The 814 has launched a campaign to locate Tigger's owners called "Operation Tiger Kitten". If the 814 can't find Tigger's owners, the kitten may end up serving aboard HMS Ocean along with the rest of the squadron, as they are due to deploy for training exercises in the Baltic and Mediterranean. Tigger's story isn't unusual. We've seen a few stories of kittens surviving rides after crawling into cars to keep warm during the night. Sometimes they drop out of cars at inconvenient times, like when this kitten fell into the middle of a busy intersection. Sometimes rescuing the kitten can cause costly damage, as this man found out after he cut his truck's body to save a trapped kitten. Many more, however, go undiscovered and can die after getting trapped in a wheel well or engine compartment. To prevent unwanted stowaways, give you horn a quick honk to send them running.

M-fographic breaks down the history of BMW performance machinery

Fri, 18 Oct 2013

Few characters carry the kind of clout among performance enthusiasts as the letter M. For 35 years now, that one letter has adorned over 300,000 BMWs, each tuned to deliver a higher degree of performance than the stock models on which they're based.
The M division has worked up nearly 100 different models over the past third of a century, which can leave even the most expert among Bimmer fanatics bewildered. Fortunately British auto loan service Carfinance247 has commissioned this handy infographic to make sense of it all, and you can check it out below to see what the letter M really stands for.
