It has 19877 miles on it ( will go slightly up since I am still driving it) This M3 is loaded with Competiton Package and Premium Package, Car runs and drives excellent, doesn't have any issues. I bought this car two and a half years ago from an insurance auction with left rear quarter panel damages. The front end was untouched, no damage to the engine or transmission. Everything was repaired by an experienced body shop with OEM BMW parts( still have some copies of parts invoices, and some pictures during repairs process if someone wants to see it). Since then I have been driving this M3 without any problems. STAGE 2 ACTIVE AUTOWERKE SUPERCHARGER KIT was installed 7k miles ago, and I don't have any issues with it. Was dyno tune pushing 525HP and 345FTQ to the rear wheels. Its very fast. This M3 also have full custom exhaust with Active X pipe and REMUS mufflers. With this setup car sounds amazing!!!! I spend close to 20000$ on this upgrades!!!!! I have 2 sets of rims and tires for it. First set factory Competition 19" rims with Michelin pilot PS2, Second set is Breyton 20" Black GTS rims with Bridgestones tires ( see pictures) Winning bidder will choose which set he wants. BMW names new head of M division
Wed, 24 Sep 2014BMW's performance division has been run by Dr. Friedrich Nitschke since 2011, developing, among other products, the new M3 and M4. But soon the good doctor will be retiring, and BMW has just named his successor.
Taking Nitschke's place as chairman of BMW M GmbH will be Franciscus van Meel (pictured at right), who until recently served as managing director of Audi Quattro GmbH - the rival outfit that makes Ingolstadt's performance models, including the R8 supercar and RS line of performance models.
Van Meel will join BMW on October 1, presumably to learn the ropes from Nitschke before the 59-year-old executive steps down at the end of the year. Back in January, Audi named Heinz Peter Hollwerweger as head of Quattro GmbH and reassigned van Meel to its Beijing R&D center, a role which evidently didn't suit him as well as creating Autobahn-storming German muscle cars.
BMW planning to stretch i3 into i5 family hauler?
Sat, 30 Nov 2013If you're sweet on the new BMW i3 but wish it had more space to carry people and stuff, we've got good news for you. According to Autocar, BMW is planning on stretching the platform that underpins the i3 to create a new model, expected to be called i5.
The stretch job would add an extra four inches of legroom in the back and another six inches of rear overhang to the benefit of cargo space. The result would create a vehicle longer than the current Mini Countryman - although the next Countryman is likely to be even larger. As Autocar points out, the process of extending the i3's composte passenger cell likely wouldn't be as difficult or cost-intensive as lengthening a conventional metal chassis, although the rear doors would need to be re-engineered.
Whether the resulting vehicle would more closely resemble a hatchback, wagon, minivan or something in between remains to be seen, however BMW is said to have already registered the nameplates i1 through i8, signalling that the possibility is at least there to add more members to its new EV family.
Will global automakers drop local JV partners if China's government says they can?
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Chinese economic policies could be in for a big change, as President Xi Jinping pushes the communist country to open its domestic markets even further. That could mean big things for the auto industry, especially when it comes to the country's far-reaching joint-venture system.
According to Chinese law, foreign automakers may only maintain a fifty-fifty partnership with their domestic counterparts. But with Jinping's push for openness leading to potential free-trade deals, that policy could be relaxed (or eradicated all together) in short order. What's an automaker to do?
Well, in BMW's case, stay the course. Automotive News Europe reports that, despite the grumblings about the JV policy changes, the German manufacturer has resigned its agreement with Brilliance through 2028. This is made doubly remarkable by the fact that BMW signed the extension over three years before it was set to expire.
