BMW has taken the wraps off its replacement for the 1 Series, the 2 Series, ahead of an official debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in January. Pricing for the new coupe starts at $32,100 for the 228i and $43,100 for the M235i that we showed you earlier today - not including $925 for destination. And before you break out the torches and pitchforks, know that those numbers compare favorably with the current 128i Coupe and 135is Coupe, which start at $31,500 and $43,550, respectively.
BMW recalls 2016 7 Series because airbags might not deploy
Thu, Apr 14 2016The Basics: BMW will recall 6,110 units of the 2016 7 Series, including versions of the 740 and 750 models with production dates from July 1, 2015, to December 11, 2015. The Problem: The luxury sedans have an airbag control module that could randomly reset because of an electrical short. If a driver has an accident while the system is resetting, then the airbags might not deploy. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will replace the air bag control module. Fore! Pro golfers race BMW i8 against a golf cart
Sat, Jun 28 2014You wouldn't think a couple of pro golfers racing a golf cart along a nice green course would get the blood pumping. But throw in a BMW i8 plug-in hybrid and things get at least a little more interesting. At least, that's what the German automaker is hoping for. Bimmer is swinging big with a cross-promotional video featuring two pairs of golfers racing plug-in vehicles at the 2014 BMW International Open golf tournament in Koln, Germany. Two of the golfers take your run-of-the-mill golf cart while the other two take a slightly more powerful BMW i8, with the goal to get to the course's "halfway house" first. The race, among other things, sends jackrabbits scurrying and shows off the i8's really cool doors and racy styling. The odd part – "spoiler" alert – is that the golf cart wins the race by taking a short cut through the course despite the fact that the i8 pairs a 231-horsepower turbocharged engine with a 131-horsepower electric motor. It's probably not exactly the message of high-speed performance BMW wants to convey but it would raise eyebrows if this weren't all a silly stunt.
