2002 Bmw M3 Topaz Blue Coupe 6-speed 100% Stock Mint! on 2040-cars
Cumming, Georgia, United States

As you can see from the pictures, I am selling my mint 2002 E46 M3 coupe 6-speed in Rare Topaz Blue. Manufacture options: Original MSRP was $53,445 Premium Package - Moonroof - power seats w/driver memory - rain-sensing windshield wipers - automatic headlight control - Nappa leather upholstry - Park distance control (back up sensors) - Bi-xenon Headlights - Harman-Kardon Sound System History: I purchased the car last year (Flew down to Tampa and drove it back to Atlanta) as a 1-owner. This car has only been serviced at a BMW dealer since day one. I was looking for a M3 for about 6 months as I was looking for one that has never been abused along with spot on maintenance. The carfax shows how religious the service has been (33 Service Records) as well as no accidents or paintwork. The Autocheck score listed at 91 shows the vehicle history is spotless as well as a southern car since birth. I am selling because I looking for an STi Sedan or a Turbo Porsche. Exterior Condition: 9.9/10. As you can tell, the car is immaculate. There are zero dings and the paint is almost perfect (12 years old - lived in the south her whole life) as it does have a couple imperfections on the hood from normal driving. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires have roughly 6,ooo miles and the wheels are 99.9% perfect - never curb rashed. The Xenon headlights and fog lights also work as they should. Interior Condition: 9.5/10. Overall is excellent shape, seats are awesome, all controls work fine. A/C and heat work as they should. The imperfections are: -slight cracking in the leather driver seat -slight wear on the top on the steering wheel (again southern car) -small indentation from my sons car seat (should dissipate with time) Mechanical: 10/10 100% stock and has never been modified. I took it to a BMW dealer to have it inspected when i purchased it, they allowed me to look underneath while it was on the lift and everything was rock solid. No leaks, zero subframe issues. It starts perfectly, clutch and transmission are fantastic and SPORT mode is even better. There are no apologies with this car. This sale will be local pickup only with certified funds. I will require a $500 deposit once you click "Buy it Now." Lots of pictures available upon request. Thanks! |

What does the open patents deal mean for Tesla ... and BMW?
Sat, Jun 14 2014Gift to the world or trade bait? Tesla Motors announced this week it would open its patents for other automakers to use. That has analysts guessing whether the California-based electric-vehicle maker is looking to either swap trade secrets with other automakers or to expand the proverbial pie that represents the plug-in vehicle market. For its part, Tesla says the answer is B. BMW, which is establishing its i sub-brand of plug-in vehicles, would be a natural collaborator with Tesla, Forbes says. In fact, executives from the two companies met in Europe this week. Details were not released, but a BMW spokesman said, "Both companies are strongly committed to the success of electromobility and discussed how to further strengthen the development of electromobility on an international level." While Tesla brings battery technology to the table, BMW offers its carbon-fiber advancements that lighten vehicle-body weight. Those advancements are key to range-extending efforts and could do wonders for Tesla on its journey to help spur technology for the sake of getting more of the general public to accept plug-in technology as a viable first-car option. Then again, Forbes says Tesla, whose investors include Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and Toyota, may be keeping its best technologies to itself by not patenting certain advancements at all. What's in Tesla's patent pool? uAutoInsurance analyzed Tesla's 249 patents and found that 104 of them related to battery technology, while 28 pertained to recharging activity, which wasn't surprising (about a quarter of those 249 patents couldn't readily be categorized). Tesla also has nine patents related to sunroof technology. The company is based in California, after all.
BMW joins the mirrorless car club at CES
Tue, Jan 5 2016Another item the future promised us is finally arriving: cameras for rearview mirrors. It's coming on the Cadillac CT6, Audi played around with the idea in its Le Mans racers, and Tesla has plans to get in on the action. And now add BMW to that list with the i8 Mirrorless concept revealed at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In BMW's scheme, three cameras replace the mirrors. One big adjustment from years of automotive convention is the lack of any side glances for the driver. A display in place of the conventional rearview mirror shows a composite wide-angle image. Imminent hazards, such as a vehicle in the blind spot, are shown with yellow warning icons. Previous mirrorless designs have mounted cameras flush with the body, but the i8 Mirrorless uses wing-like side cameras. They also serve as turn signal indicators. We assume that the narrow profile is more aerodynamic than the housing for a large piece of reflective glass. Also in BMW's CES bag of tricks is the BMW i3 Extended Rearview Mirror. This uses a rear-facing, roof-mounted camera that overlays images on the conventional interior mirror. But we do have some questions – what happens when the cameras get dirty? Mirrors still work even when partially obscured by dirt. And when will these ideas see production? Stay tuned as we'll follow up with answers from BMW's booth on the CES show floor soon.
Husqvarna sold to KTM CEO Stefan Pierer
Fri, 01 Feb 2013A couple of days ago the UK's Motorcycle News reported that BMW was in the final stages of selling Husqvarna to KTM, with a deal potentially confirmed as soon as this week. Following that came reports that Husqvarna Motorcycles wasn't sold to KTM but to a Pierer Industries, the company owned by KTM CEO Stefan Pierer. Turns out the advance report was true, as was the follow-up: BMW has just announced a "strategic realignment" of its Motorrad division, explaining that it sold Husqvarna to Pierer Industries in order to focus on the urban and e-mobility segments. Husqvarna's off-road machines, obviously, don't fit into those categories.
BMW bought the Italian-based bike maker with centuries-old Swedish roots in 2007 - the rest of the Husqvarna company remains based in Sweden - and has invested huge sums to integrate the smaller company into the larger parent. Six years later, just when dividends should begin to truly pay off, the brand is sold.
Before BMW made its announcement, one of the theories that forum members put forward for Pierer's interest in purchasing Husqvarna was that he wants his own business to run his own way. The parent company of KTM, Cross Industries, is 47.27-percent owned by India's Bajaj Automotive, with Pierer the majority shareholder, and is on a quest for global growth, taking the fight to BMW in Europe and launching new bikes and technology into the Indian market. Compared to BMW's and KTM's 2012 sales of around 100,000 bikes each in 2012, Husqvarna sold 10,751 bikes, which was a 15.7-percent increase over the previous year. Pierer would have a lot more freedom in the running of a company of that size.
