2002 BMW *M3*

No Reserve NR

*171,650 MILES

COLD WEATHER PACKAGE !

REAR PARK SENSORS !

19" WHEELS !!

I am selling my beautiful BMW E46 M3 COUPE,  with no reserve so the highest bidder will get the car. It is equipped with a Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) transmission and premium package. It is a rare and stunning color combination with shining Laguna Seca Blue exterior and Grey leather interior.

The car is fully loaded with everything power, windows, sunroof and both seats.

The car is incredibly powerful, amazing 3.2 L 16 DOHC 24V engine pushing 333 HP and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine & transmission are in excellent mechanical condition. There are no leaks anywhere that I can see or detect.

It has good rotors & brakes. The tires have about 5,000 miles on them, size 245/30R19 in the front and 255/35ZR19 in the rear.

Good:

1. Engine & transmission in excellent condition. Synthetic engine oil filter, ~2000 miles ago

2. Tires: 80% thread remaining

3. The SMG pump was replaced 6,000 miles ago (with an used one) along with the pink relay. The car will come with the original non-functional SMG pump. It could be rebuilt.

4. It comes with 2 keys, but one needs a need battery.

5. The car was smog checked last year in Virginia; Thus, it has one year remaining.

Bad:

1.  Some scratches in front bumper, see picture

2.  The driver’s seat shows some wear, see picture

3.  Pillar trim fabrics needs to be reglued, see picture

4.  Minor exterior dings

5.  Door latch does not lock or unlock door. I believe it needs a door lock cylinder barrel However, electronic central locking is working property, locks & unlocks the car.

6.  Airbag light comes on every once in a while

I have clear title in hand. I would give it 7.5 out of 10 to both interior and exterior. Please keep in mind that is a 12 year old car, be realistic in your expectations.

Please ask any questions before the end of the auction. If you have less than 10 feedbacks, please check with me before bidding & state your paying intentions

The reason that I am selling my car & a BMW R1200GS adventure motorcycle (see my other listing) is due to the first newborn in the family, and we need an SUV.

Thank you for looking.

The car is located in Gaithersburg Maryland (20877)

If you decided to pay the remainder balance using Paypal, you will be responsible for the 3% transaction fee (I think it is 3 or 4%) that the company charges (Example: for every $1000 dollars, Paypal charges $30). Please note that money order or check has to clear before releasing the car. If no contact is made within 24 hours. I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly work with the company of your preference. Car Hacking 101: Here's what motorists should know [w/video]

Tue, Feb 24 2015

Cars are nothing more than computers on wheels. As such, they're vulnerable to hackers. Most people who work within the auto industry have understood this for years, but for the broader American public not paying as close attention, three storylines emerged recently that underscored this new vehicular reality. First, German researchers found a flaw in BMWs remote-services system that allowed them to access the telematics units in vehicles. Then, a 60 Minutes report demonstrated that researchers could remotely infiltrate a Chevy Impala and override critical functions, like acceleration and braking. Finally, a US Senator released a critical report (see video above) that found almost all automakers are unprepared to handle real-time hacks of their vehicles. Those reports come on the heels of two previous instances in recent months when researchers demonstrated the capability to hack cars. All this news can be disconcerting. If you're late to the concept of car-hacking and wondering how this is possible, we've got you covered. Here's your quick primer on what you need to know. 1. How Did My Car Become A Computer? On the outside, cars haven't changed all that much over the past couple of decades years. On the inside, however, the amount of electronics and software has dramatically increased. Most new cars contain more than 50 microprocessors known as electronic control units. These ECUs control everything from airbag deployment and navigation systems to throttle control and braking, and they're usually connected to each other on an internal network called the CAN bus. 2. What Exactly Is Car Hacking? Depends who you ask. Automakers might consider anything that alters the car from its state of manufacture as a 'hack.' For example, if you're chipping the engine – re-calibrating those ECUs to increase your horsepower – some people might consider that a hack. But in the context of the recent news reports, security experts are focused on unwanted, unauthorized cyber intrusions into a vehicle. Once inside your car, prospective attacks could range from minor things like eavesdropping on conversations via an infotainment system and unlocking car doors to major concerns, like overriding driver inputs and controlling braking, steering and acceleration. 3. How Is This All Possible? Any part of the car that communicates with the outside world, either via a remote or direct connection, is a potential entry point for hackers.

2015 BMW X4 gets its small-screen debut

Thu, 26 Jun 2014

It's easy to dismiss the 2015 BMW X4. On one hand, the high-style crossover seems more like a boardroom decision than a practical one. In a world with the 3 Series, 4 Series, X3, 3 Series GT and 4 Series Gran Coupe, is BMW really being inundated with requests for a baby X6? Of course, when we finally got behind the wheel of the CUV for our First Drive, it proved rather entertaining, and certainly the X6's global sales success suggests that it's worth the relatively low-cost risk for the Bavarian automaker.
Now, it's the general public's chance to weigh in on the latest crossover Bimmer and vote with their dollars. The X4 is just hitting showrooms in the US, and BMW is beginning its marketing campaign for it with the slogan "Embrace the Unknown." The first TV ad shows off the CUV driving through the world's major cities as they undulate like the rolling ocean. A woman flatly says phrases starting with "Go," while a synth-heavy score plays underneath that wouldn't be out of place over the end credits in an '80s sci-fi movie.
Visually, it's actually kind of a cool ad and evokes some of the special effects from Inception. Focusing on an urban atmosphere is probably a good idea, too, because the percentage of X4s going offroad is likely to be in the low single digits, if that. Now, let's see if BMW buyers are willing to embrace the unknown of the X4. Scroll down to watch it for yourself.

Recharge Wrap-up: Reverse graffiti powered by Nissan Leaf; BMW introduces Wallbox Pro

Mon, Sep 29 2014

BMW has a new, faster version of the Wallbox home EV charger. The Wallbox Pro offers 7.4 kilowatts, and can charge the BMW i3 to 80 percent in under three hours. It features a seven-inch touchscreen and proximity sensor, plus an 11.5-foot cord. The Wallbox Pro can also be used with smart home systems such as lighting and heating. The Wallbox Pro is available in Europe, and will come to the US later in the year. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Nissan is using the Leaf to power the creation of "reverse graffiti" in London. The company has commissioned artist Moose to selectively wash dirt off of a wall outside of a subway station, leaving behind a mural of London landmarks. Moose used a jet washer powered by the Leaf's battery to create the piece. The goal is to highlight the amount of pollution in London and other large cities, which is not a new idea. "It is a reminder that electric vehicles don't have an exhaust to emit the kind of air pollution which has stained the wall Moose has created his piece on," says Nissan's Jean-Pierre Diernaz. See the artwork in the gallery, and read more in the press release below. Local Motors used a 3D printer to make the Strati electric car in 44 hours. The car was printed with 212 layers of carbon-reinforced ABS thermoplastic. After printing, the team then spent two days finishing the car to make it run. It is powered by the drivetrain from a Renault Twizy, and is capable of 40 miles per hour. Now the question is if this sort of small-scale car manufacturing using 3D printing technology will catch on. See how a car gets printed in the time-lapse video below, and read more over at Treehugger. Nissan cleans up London with the world's first car-powered graffiti - Nissan LEAF powers "Reverse Graffiti" street art in Waterloo - Mass-scale mural imagines a cleaner London, without car fumes - The artwork is on show in Waterloo, London near popular Southbank LONDON – Nissan is highlighting London's battle with air quality in the UK by using the 100% electric Nissan LEAF – the world's best-selling electric vehicle (EV) – to power a striking piece of street art in Waterloo, London that depicts the capital's iconic skyline. Nissan commissioned Reverse Graffiti artist Moose – the founder of his field – to create the mass-scale mural, which was unveiled today. Unlike traditional graffiti, Moose creates his art by cleaning dirt off surfaces using a jet washer or wire brush, leaving a striking design in negative on the wall.
