Selling my rare 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe, with 3.2L inline 6 engine (S52), 5 Speed manual transmission. BMW is in great condition inside and out. Exterior is Estoril Blue Metallic with classy Dark Beige Oregon leather interior. This particular combination is about 1 of 36 produced, much more elegant than the more common black and bright blue interiors.
Mileage at 107,000 is low for the year. Low mileage means different things to different people, personally I like a car that was driven regularly and had all of the common bugs sorted out. If you're looking at this car you probably already know they don't come by often, I've only seen 2 others in the Greater Salt Lake area. Less than 3,000 M-Coupes were built between 1999 and 2001. We get about 19 city/26 highway mpg.

Immaculate Running Condition. M Coupe is always garaged.
Equipped with Moon Roof, Harman Kardon Sound System, CD player, 2-Keys, Dual Power Seats, Cruise Control, OEM Rear Spoiler, Front Airbags, Security System, Cold Weather Package with Heated Seats, ABS Brakes, Cargo Screen, Air Conditioning, Dynamic Stability, Traction Control, Intermittent Wipers, Premium Alloy Wheels, Leather Tilt Steering Wheel, Leather Shifter.
Some records available.

*****Randy Forbes subframe reinforcement ($4,000 value)
Clutch, Fly-wheel, Throw-out bearing replaced less then 10K miles ago.
Coolant System Re-done, thermostat, water-pump, etc
Clutch radiator fan removed (common failure point) installed Electric fan
Replaced seat bushings (common wear component)
Exhaust brackets
Clutch pedal and linkage replaced/serviced
Cluster serviced
Rogue Engineering clutch stop (new in bag)
Newish floor mats (will include originals)
Have black grilles (still have originals)
Stone guards
Recent alignment and check up at Russ Alignment (everything checks out)

Minor Issues: Parts of the wheels are losing their coating. Portion of center console is broken (very minor). Missing tools from hatch.

Reason for sale: Selling to fund the purchase of a home. I bought the M Coupe in September. In my ownership I've put on 3-4K miles, tried to keep the miles minimal and avoided highway driving as best as I could.

5 new EVs that make driving fun

Thu, Jan 25 2024

One of the things enthusiasts bellyache about the most is electrification. The noisiest complainers say that EVs will suck the fun out of driving and can’t possibly be as engaging as a roaring gas engine. ItÂ’s undoubtedly true that the noises EVs make are not always as visceral and thrilling, but itÂ’s also true that electrification has ushered in a new era of performance that gas vehicles simply cannot match. WeÂ’ve gathered a list of EVs that donÂ’t suck to drive. We all know by now about Tesla and its Plaid models, which absolutely set the quarter-mile ablaze with their amazing acceleration figures. The vehicles on this list don't come from Tesla. Nor does the list include some highly anticipated performance EVs that will soon hit the market, such as the new 2024 Porsche Macan. This selection may be a bit short on range compared to tamer models, but at the same time, itÂ’s hard to ignore their specs and even harder to ignore the sensation that a full-throttle electric powertrain delivers. LetÂ’s dive in to see five new EVs that make driving fun. Porsche Taycan PorscheÂ’s gas-powered vehicles are among the most exciting on the road, so itÂ’s not surprising to see the automakerÂ’s first electric effort as a home run. The Taycan is available in a staggering number of configurations, ranging from the 375-horsepower base model to the massively powerful Turbo S models with up to 750 horsepower in temporary boost mode. Classic Porsche styling and high-end tech round out the package, making the Taycan one of the most desirable EVs today. That said, the TaycanÂ’s almost $91,000 starting price puts it out of reach for a majority of car buyers, and the prices keep steadily rising along with the performance. It also trades range for performance, as the least powerful variant is the most efficient, returning 242 miles with the extended-range battery. The car can take advantage of fast charging, however, and can recover up to 80 percent of its battery capacity in just over 22 minutes.   Kia EV6 GT How about a Kia that can out-accelerate many supercars, especially from a few years ago? The EV6 GT comes with two electric motors with a combined 576 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque. Its 0-60 mph time lands at just 3.4 seconds, and the EV offers a top speed of 161 mph, making it one serious Korean EV. At the same time, it features the standout styling of the standard model, which gives it a striking curb presence and a futuristic look that is unique among EVs.

The 2014 Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio powers up luxury and speed

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

The BMW specialists at Alpina know how to exploit a niche when they see one. With the BMW M4 still not technically official, it saw the need for a higher performance four-seat convertible than the 435i 'vert. Enter the new B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio that is debuting at the Geneva Motor Show.
The European-exclusive model takes BMW's 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-6 and massages it up to 410 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, which is less power but more twist than the M4 would give buyers. Alpina's tend to be built more as quick, luxurious grand tourers, and the B4 Bi-Turbo gets is no different with an adaptive sport suspension and an eight-speed automatic. Plus it wears the classic pinstripes and 21-spoke wheels that are the brand's design hallmarks.
While the added weight for the convertible means that the Cabrio takes 4.5 seconds to reach 62 miles per hour, about a half-second slower than the coupe, at the moment it is the only way to get this kind of performance in a BMW convertible. Orders for the convertible open in March in Europe and prices in Germany start at 74,800 euros ($102,878 at today's conversion rates).

Automakers are getting nervous about Europe's economy

Sun, Nov 6 2022

Carmakers BMW and Stellantis on Thursday expressed concerns about Europe's economic outlook, joining a chorus of retailers and others in warning of waning consumer confidence on the continent and hitting their shares. "Obviously the macro(-economic situation) in Europe is more challenging, which gives me pause, personally," Stellantis chief financial officer Richard Palmer said on a conference call with analysts. "If there was anywhere where I was more concerned, it would be Europe than anywhere else really based on the macro." This follows a dire assessment of consumer sentiment in Europe from the likes of consumer goods company Unilever and news of lower spending by Europeans from Amazon. Like other major auto companies, Stellantis and BMW have been hit by supply chain disruptions stemming from the global coronavirus pandemic that have curtailed car production. They have also benefited from strong consumer demand amid low vehicle supply, allowing them to raise prices and keep them high even as the semiconductor shortage shows signs of easing. BMW posted a 35.3% jump in third-quarter revenue despite a small drop in vehicle sales. Stellantis said its revenue rose 29% on the back of a 13% increase in vehicle sales as more semiconductors became available. The concern among analysts has been that demand may falter, just as carmakers get their hands on the supplies they need, undermining pricing and hurting profits. But this week Ferrari said it was confident about its prospects for this year and 2023 as demand for its luxury cars, as well its pricing power, remained strong. Both BMW and Stellantis said on Thursday they had vehicle order books that stretched into the second quarter of 2023. But BMW's chief financial officer Nicolas Peter said high inflation and rising interest rates could hit buyers' wallets. "This is causing conditions for consumers to deteriorate, which will affect their behaviour in the coming months," he said. "We therefore continue to expect our higher-than-average order books to normalise, especially in Europe." He added customers had been unhappy about the wait for new cars, so "a slight reduction (in orders) would not be negative." Palmer said Stellantis was "ready for any softness in demand" but in the short term had been affected by a shortage of drivers to deliver its cars to dealers. "At the moment, we can't build enough cars," he said.
