This 840, amongst the most sought-after hard to find in good condition classic BMWs in the world, is finished in the incredibly popular color combo of JET black over sumptuous BLACK LEATHER premium interior. These cars have been known to reach 30-40k in the V12 versions in excellent condition, and many V8s are often sold in the low 5 digits.

This vehicle has been WELL maintained by its only 3 prior owners (with a long history in California and Texas) per the Carfax, with ONLY 119K MILES and a NICELY DOCUMENTED SERVICE HISTORY. This 8 Series had an original MSRP of over $70,000 in 1990s dollars and while now being offered at a fraction of this price, is WELL loaded with options detailed below. We have determined the panels on this BMW to be corrosion free, owing obviously to a garage kept and cared for history. Just a nice straight car.

All power options are in functioning condition from windows to door locks and power seats. We replaced the outer driver's side door handle at our expense. The only exception is the Sunroof (more info below).

ISSUES OF NOTE: (1) Sunroof is NOT FUNCTIONAL. Sunroof WILL retract all the way but when closing gets stuck before fully closing. Allen key will always close sunroof so it does not appear to be bound up but we are unsure what is wrong with it. The only area of corrosion on the entire car appears to be one small corner of this sunroof, detailed in the photo and video below. (2) Fuel and temp gauges occasionally drop to the 0 point (tapping on them usually brings them back). (3) Pixels out on trip computer (common). (4) Roof trim strip, driver side is missing (clips are there). We will try to obtain this prior to sale but can not guarantee it.

X4 launch to spearhead BMW crossover onslaught at NY Auto Show

It's no secret that crossovers are one of the key vehicle types driving today's auto industry profits, and nowhere is that more true than among the world's luxury brands. BMW became one of the first players in the luxury CUV segment when it launched its original X5 in 1999, and buoyed by that model's runaway success, it followed up with the X3 in 2003, the X6 in 2008 and the X1 in 2009 (though the latter didn't make it to the US until late 2012). It's replaced the X5 twice since then and the X3 once, but the Bavarian automaker isn't about to let matters rest there.
First off, a production version of a new X4 model is expected at the New York Auto Show in April. The model was previously rumored to be earmarked for reveal a month earlier, but a new report from Autocar suggests that the previously mooted reveal date and location were inaccurate. The X4 is expected to apply the same controversial slant-back formula to the X3 that transformed the X5 into the X6, which will in turn lead to an update for the X3 as well.
But that's not all. Autocar also reports that before 2014 is out, BMW will unveil a revised X6 at the Moscow Motor Show in August, which will in turn be followed by upgraded versions of both the X6 M and X5 M. These high-performance crossovers are tipped to pack the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 as the outgoing versions, albeit with higher outputs than the current models' 555 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. All this, and they're still expected to simultaneously improve fuel consumption and emissions figures.

How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.

BMW says yes to 1 Series M successor, no to M6 Gran Coupe with xDrive

If you're anything like us, the first half of that headline made you smile. The BMW 1 Series M Coupe was, without a doubt, one of our favorite cars from the past few years, and according to a BMW Blog interview, Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, head of the company's M division, has confirmed that a successor is in the works.
"We haven't made a decision yet, but the 1M coupe was so successful, that in my opinion, I am absolutely sure we will build a successor," Nitschke told BMW Blog. Currently, BMW only offers the M135i version of the new 1 Series hatch in Europe, which Nitschke says is "not a pure M car."
Moving elsewhere in the M range, BMW Blog asked about the M6 Gran Coupe that recently debuted at this year's Detroit Auto Show. The obvious competitors for this car will be higher-power versions of the Porsche Panamera and Audi RS7, but while both of those offer all-wheel drive, the M6 only sends power to its rear wheels.
