Listing for a long time friend and BMW owner (cars & bikes).......95 model 840 CI that was originally a California car that my buddy bought and had shipped back to Tennessee in February 2006. At the time of purchase, he had the car delivered to Steve's BMW Service in Redondo Beach for complete going over and all worn suspension parts were replaced at that time. Steering arms, sway bar links, motor mounts, pollen filters, control arms and bushings, front shocks, belts, oil service, etc. I can scan and send invoices to anyone with serious interest. Also at that time, owner bought fresh Alpina style 8x17 wheels with new tires (original rims are included with sale). Car has just had the ac serviced with new compressor, receiver dryer, etc and all is working like new ($1600). Car drives like a watch and has 148,000 highway miles with excellent service records from that time and Steve would be happy to discuss this car with serious buyers as he knows it end to end. Automatic transmission and everything works as it should - beautiful highway machine. The rear glass has a small peck that came from debris from the building next to his office but has not spread at all since that time (2006). BMW planning six-cylinder i9 hybrid to celebrate centenary?
Mon, 28 Jul 2014On the prospect of a new BMW M1 based on the company's new i8 hybrid, the jury has been in and out so much that we can't even tell which way it's likely to go. However, the latest reports coming in from Germany suggest that BMW may have something else up its sleeves. Rather than make a conventional gas-powered version of the i8, Germany's Auto Motor und Sport says BMW will make a more powerful one.
Tentatively dubbed i9, the hybrid sports car is rumored to pack a six-cylinder internal-combustion engine instead of the i8's turbo three. Coupled to more potent electric motors, it would figure to produce even more than the 357 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque already on tap in the i8, with further weight reductions to offset the bulkier engine.
Auto Motor und Sport says the mooted model will be produced to celebrate the Bavarian automaker's 100th anniversary and eclipse the i8's performance, with a projected 0-60 run in under four seconds en-route to taking the gloves off to crunch the Autobahn in electric bliss. The new i flagship would be another member of the company's growing electrified family, joining the existing i3 hatchback, upcoming i5 minivan and possible i8 Spyder down the line.
Official pics of BMW M235i surface ahead of coupe's debut
Thu, 24 Oct 2013BMW isn't supposed to debut the 2 Series until tomorrow, according to Carscoops, but that hasn't stopped these photos of the 1 Series Coupe replacement from leaking onto the web. First picked up by a BMW 2 Series enthusiast site, the photos eventually found their way around the web, and complement the spy images we showed you of the uncovered 2 Series from almost six months ago.
This particular car is the M235i, and will serve as the range-topping 2 Series. As the number "35" is affixed to this car's tail, there's no question that the engine powering this example is BMW's turbocharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder. As we reported earlier this month, power for the M235i should sit around 320 horsepower, blessing the 3,240-pound coupe with a 4.8-second sprint to 60 miles per hour when equipped with an eight-speed automatic (a six-speed manual is also available, but drops the time down to an even five seconds).
While this isn't a full-bore M car like the 1 Series M Coupe, it has been touched by the company's in-house tuning division, which means it sports a racier body kit, blacked out grilles and M-labeled interior items, like the steering wheel.
Mini JCW Paceman vs. BMW M135i in family faceoff
Mon, 15 Apr 2013Over the last year, we've had the chance to drive two of the most exciting hatchbacks in the BMW family - the BMW M135i and the Mini Paceman John Cooper Works - but Autocar has managed to get the two corporate cousins together for a head-to-head comparison. Just like our initial impressions of the Paceman JCW, Autocar has little to complain about this new 215-horsepower hatchback... until it begins to factor in the faster, better-mannered and similarly priced M135i.
Despite laying down an extra 100 hp and delivering a 0-60 time that is almost two seconds quicker, the M135i carries the same price tag of 29,535 pounds in the UK; US pricing for the Paceman starts at $36,200, while it still isn't even clear if the US will be getting the M135i. Even more surprising is the fact that the Paceman falls short of the M135i in regards to rear seat and cargo volume, and just barely squeaks out a win in the fuel economy department.
