Up for sale is my Wife’s 2006 BMW 750i (e65) finished in Sterling Silver Metallic with the Basalt Gray/Flannel Gray Interior Package and loaded to the gills with options. It’s just crested 74K miles so it’s barely broken in. This has been our Fifth consecutive 7-Series over the years so you’re purchasing from a very knowledgeable and conscientious BMW aficionado/addict. Our daughter has just hit the road on her own so my wife’s “Mom” duties have been relegated to only our son requiring transport thus something of a slightly different flavor can be brought into our stable… something topless.
We purchased this 750i out of Phoenix, AZ so it has never been subjected to the harsh winters we experience in KC (still has never seen a snow flake). All services are not only up to date but the preventative maintenance has also been a priority. The All-Season Tires are New and recent services include Fluid Replacements, Front Control Arm/Thrust Bushing Replacement, Battery Replacement, Cabin Filter Replacement and Brakes. Essentially, this is as New of a Used 750 you’ll ever run across and it is in immaculate cosmetic condition to boot. The exterior has just been “Clay Bar’d”, polished and waxed and is free of any unsightly dings or damage. The interior has obviously been conditioned properly since new as well and has no stains, scratches or wear on any of the surfaces and the “hand” of the leather is remarkably soft and supple just as it was when it came off the show room floor. Say what you will about the name 4 Series, there is a method to BMW's madness. On one hand, it's easy enough to just buy into the logic that odd numbers are reserved for sedans and wagons, and that even numbers are reserved for coupes and convertibles. On the other hand, consider the idea that the higher numbers are used to separate the more dynamic, more engaging vehicles that use the same platform. It's that sort of separation that differentiates the 6 Series so nicely from its 5 Series roots, after all. And if we're being cynical, it also allows BMW to charge a bit more money for its lower-volume offerings.
So with the new two-door version of the 3 Series, BMW has gone the route of strengthening the dynamic virtues of its F30 chassis to create a car that's more removed from its sedan kin than one might think. And after spending some time with the new 4 Series on the roads around Lisbon, Portugal, as well as the famous Circuito do Estoril racetrack, it's increasingly clear that calling this car a 3 Series Coupe simply wouldn't be fair.
Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
BMW announces M235i xDrive, 7 Series Exclusive among summer upgrades
Tue, 13 May 2014Like any automaker worth its lug-nuts, BMW is constantly striving to improve its products. And so it has announced a series of upgrades for the summer - none of them revolutionary, but a couple of them notable.
For one, the Bavarian automaker has announced that is is offering xDrive traction on the M235i coupe, a model that has been available until now only in rear-drive configuration. The all-wheel drive version comes with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six with 326 horsepower (320 in the US market) and eight-speed automatic transmission as the rear-drive version, but now channels that power to all four wheels for a 0-62 time quoted at 4.6 seconds - two little ticks quicker than the existing version. It's the first time that all-wheel drive is being offered on the 2 Series, and will also be fitted on the convertible - at least, that is, in Europe. We're waiting on confirmation of North American availability.
Among the other announcements is a special edition of BMW's flagship luxury sedan. The 7 Series Exclusive Edition upgrades with metallic paint, 19-inch V-spoke alloys, Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-trimmed instrument panel. Buyers will also be able to opt for the Merino fine grain leather and Alcantara roof lining from the BMW Individual catalog, and choose between any available engine or either wheelbase lengths.
