Absolutely Beautiful 1986 Bmw 635csi Coupe on 2040-cars
Nevada City, California, United States
I always told myself that I would own a BMW 6 series with a 5 speed at some point in my life, so when it came time to buy one... I searched for the best! This is an absolutely stunning example of a Bronzitbeige 1986 BMW 635csi. It has the very rare 5 speed manual transmission (only 270 imported to America from 1985 to 1989) and is being sold as part of my private collection in Nevada City CA. The car has 152,000 loved miles on it and looks like it was purchased new last year. I have had two other high end collectors recently tell me that it is the nicest one they have ever seen. The Bronzit Beige with tan leather is breathtaking. This car was ordered fully loaded (over $50,000) and has the very special BMW power adjustable sport seats (few of these do). It is completely stock and intact plus the addition of these items... An absolutely perfect set of BMW 850 wheels with newer Yokohama S Drive 225-50-16 tires, Dinan chip installed (comes with original chip), short shift kit installed, M6 rear end with LSD (limited slip differential) and a new Sony blue tooth/cd stereo unit (original stereo included). It has been meticulously maintained for the last 15 years by Bavarian Professionals in Oakland CA where it was taken twice a year to be given a full inspection and regular scheduled maintenance. The speedometer quit at 126,000 miles (common problem with 635's) and now shows 26,000 miles on the new one. This was all properly performed and documented by Bavarian Professionals and the car now retains a legal speedometer replacement sticker in the driver door jamb. I have also included photos of the few imperfections I could find on the interior. The exterior is near perfect with only a few small rock chips. A brand new Interstate battery was installed this week and it will have the fluids changed directly before it goes to its new owner. I will be happy to send a photo of the current smog report to help show the amazingly tight running condition of the engine. The car comes with its original owners manuals and BMW cassette deck cleaning kit.
This 635 has been adult owned by a professional driver and mostly used as a Show/Touring vehicle with the occasional spirited drive showing total respect to the car. It has NOT been driven hard and shows no signs of hard use externally or mechanically. This beauty has been a fantastic and rare gem to own and I am sad to see it go. My recent move from a larger shop makes for rather cramped conditions at the moment and I now feel ready to let the car live the next phase of its life with a hopefully very excited new owner! Come see in person and invite your mechanic if you like. This car will not disappoint! Please call me with ANY questions at 530-559-6518. Thanks for looking! |

BMW stripes up X6 M Design Edition
Tue, 24 Sep 2013There's something that makes red, dark blue and light blue stripes running up the fenders and down the flanks of a white car just that much more eye-catching. Whether it's a Martini Racing liveried racecar or something from the BMW skunkworks, they just draw long looks nothing else can. And here's the latest.
The BMW X6 M Design Edition upgrades on the standard X6 M with such special touches as 21-inch alloys, a carbon front splitter and rear splitter, black grilles and diffusor, and of course, those iconic racing stripes, which come as an option on this model.
The interior has been done up in black leather with Mugello red accents and piano black trim. Only 100 individually-numbered examples will be offered, and given that this one's wearing German plates, we doubt there's much chance many (if any) will make it Stateside. But then again, you could always spec up your own X6 M with most if not all of the same trim and forgo the little number plate on the dashboard.
Audi to spend $17 billion to fight BMW
Sat, 29 Dec 2012It's no secret that VW Group, parent company to not only Volkswagen but also Audi, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ducati brands sold in the US, is determined to become the world's largest automaker. Even more impressive is that VW is prepared to spend billions to make it happen.
With that comes word that VW Group will be spending $17 billion on its Audi brand over the next three years to push itself above rival BMW. The money will be invested in both vehicle development (including lightweight auto design and alternative powertrains) and facilities (including expansion in Hungary, China and new operations in Mexico). The luxury brand is focused on global manufacturing infrastructure.
Already Europe's best-selling luxury brand, Audi's objective is to overtake BMW by the end of the decade by selling more than two million cars per year (BMW is shooting for 1.54 million sales in 2013). If those objectives are met, VW Group should be on track to be the industry's volume leader by 2018.
BMW almost ready to roll out new 2 Series cabriolet
Thu, 05 Jun 2014The 2 Series is a relatively new member of the BMW family, having been spun off of the 1 Series (itself one of the company's youngest lines) just last year. So far the range has been split between the Active Tourer and the 2 Series Coupe, but soon the latter will breed a new compact convertible to take the place of the outgoing 1 Series cabriolet, and here we have our best look at it yet.
Spied with the most minimal camouflage and its top down while undergoing its final rounds of development testing, this pre-production 2 Series cabrio looks about ready for show time. While the Active Tourer is based on a different front-drive platform, this convertible is, as you might have guessed, essentially a 2 Series Coupe with a folding fabric roof. That means rear-wheel drive (or potentially all-wheel drive if BMW extends its availability from the coupe to the convertible) win either 228i or M235i specification - both of them turbocharged, the former with a 240-horsepower, 2.0-liter four and the latter with the 320-hp, 3.0-liter inline-six.
Considering that BMW got an approximately $8k premium for the 1 Series convertible over the coupe, expect the 2 Series cabrio to start at a little over $40k for the 228i and top out at around $53k for the M235i xDrive convertible. That is, assuming BMW offers it in that top spec, because at that rate we're getting perilously close to the $54,900 base price of the 435i convertible.
