This is a 3 three day auction with a reserve. Up for auction is my 1985 BMW 635CSi Automatic.  In 1985 there were 2,268 automatics sold in the USA.

The vehicle AUTO CHECK gave it a score of 51 out of a high score of 62. No accidents and paint is original>>>>>>>>>

A little history of the 1985 BMW CSi >>>

1985-87: 635CSi, L6

The 1985 model year marked the end of Bosch's teeth-cutting stage and the beginning of Motronic engine management control as we know it today. Motronic version 1.0 adaptive offered variable operating parameters according to sensor inputs and provided the basis for the future of performance tuning--the eprom upgrade. But this didn't happen overnight. Not until the early 1990s did companies and luminaries such as AutoThority and Jim Conforti totally unravel BMW's code and rewrite it for more performance-oriented use. Meanwhile, though, BMW finally had the beginnings of a power increase it so desperately needed in the U.S.

Engine displacement was finally increased to rest-of-the-world spec at 3430cc (3.5L), and the U.S. E24 finally became the 635CSi. Power was now up to 182 bhp at 5400 rpm and 214 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, the latter eclipsing the European-spec 633CSi. However, the U.S. engine was still hampered by a low, 8.0:1 compression ratio and exhaust restrictions, meaning it was still grossly underpowered by European standards, where the 10:1 compression, non-catalyst 635CSi cranked out 218 bhp at 5200 rpm and 228 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The low compression ratio was mandated by low-octane gasoline and the inability of early Motronics to deal with the combination of high compression and exhaust restriction in the absence of knock sensors. Later, in the 1990s, the 1985-on U.S.-spec 635CSi would respond dramatically to a simple ECU chip upgrade from either of the aforementioned suppliers. Today, a Conforti chip remains the single best engine power upgrade for the U.S.-spec 635CSi.

The car has been maintenance by BMW Stores and is up to date. With the low miles, the car must have sat around in a garage for long periods. The previous owner, went well beyond standard maintenance and got a little carried away with preventive maintenance.

The car drives great!!!!! This is truly a highway cruiser and power really kicks in at 50 + mph.

The spare tire has been used, antenna is power and it works, almost all the tools are there and the owners manuals are included.

No paint fade, the paint is original, must have been garage kept and waxed by a professional for sure. Even the paint in the door jams, under the hood and trunk is original.

Again this a 3 day auction, $500 due at close of auction and remainder due three >>3>> after close of auction.

If the car is to be exported, Jacksonville, FL is a major port with connections thru out the World.

GOOD LUCK

Dinan S3-R BMW 1M Coupe

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

I nearly shed tears a few years ago upon learning that BMW was only planning to produce a very limited quantity of its then-new 2011 1 Series M Coupe. In simplest terms, the two-door was a 1 Series fitted with a modified version of the automaker's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and the running gear (gearbox, driveshaft, axles) from contemporary M3 models. It was also a return to form for the brand. Aggressively short and stubby in stature but packing telltale flared wheel arches that hinted at its potential, the four-seater was a spiritual successor to the original (and much loved) E30 M3 from decades earlier.
After spending a day with the original high-performance 1 at New York's Monticello Motor Club, I declared, "The little coupe with the big flares is old-school retro cool and deliciously fun to drive ... the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe doesn't target boy-racers, it targets enthusiasts." Yet sadly - and despite strong demand - BMW limited the model's production to just one year. All told, only 740 units made it to the States, and each was gobbled up at a starting price of $46,135, a price tag history will show to be a bargain.
Since I had little hope of even driving one again, I deliberately pushed all memories of BMW's 1 Series M Coupe from my mind - until my phone rang recently. On the other end was a representative from Dinan Engineering who wanted to know if I would be interested in driving the company's new S3-R BMW 1M. A quick Google search revealed it to be a heavily modified version of the discontinued 1 Series M Coupe. As if they needed an answer...

Are you the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe?

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

Thanks to Austrian website Autofilou (via Jalopnik), we now have our first look at what appears to be the upcoming BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe - the four-door version of the new 4 Series coupe, which itself is based on the 3 Series sedan. Makes total sense, right?
Nevertheless, in our First Drive of the 4 Series coupe, we found it to be a much more engaging experience than the 3 Series on which its based. And if this new 4GC follows in those footsteps, it could prove to be a better 3 Series sedan than, well, the 3 Series sedan.
Expect the 4 Series Gran Coupe to come in 428i and 435i flavors, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four in the base car and a 3.0-liter turbo-six in the higher-end model. Of course, BMW will likely bring a range-topping M4 Gran Coupe to market not long thereafter.
