1981 Bmw 633csi on 2040-cars

This 1981 633csi was my first car. I no longer have the money/space to maintain it to my likings. The car originated in Seattle Washington where the owner kept it in a
garage rarely driving it. The car was then sold to a man in
California. I then purchased the vehicle in the summer of 2008 with 90,000
miles. When I bought the car it had a cold start problem. I had to replace the
reluctor wheel in the distributor and ever since then I have not had any issues
with it starting. The car recently received new front control arms and tie rods
because of old age. The handling of the car was improved greatly as a result and they should last for another hundred thousand miles. The interior of the car is very clean. I added a Blaupunkt stereo with built in Bluetooth as well as replaced the two rear speakers. The seats are very comfortable made out of a tan leather and purple stitching. The rest of the interior is Brown and Black. The dashboard also has some small cracks in it. A previous owner had the car repainted. A small section at the bottom left of the rear window is starting to peel however it is not very noticeable. On the trunk the paint is slightly cracked. Overall the car still feels very solid for a 34 year old vehicle (it was manufactured in 1980). It currently has over 120,000 miles. The clutch easily has another 50,000 miles in it. The car was used as a daily driver for about six years until I moved and bought a new car. There are no strange shakes and rattles and it is surprisingly reliable in the snow. Although the transmission does perform just fine, the first and second gear synchros are slightly worn requiring a little more force to engage when accelerating quickly. The gears do not crunch however you will be able to tell the transmission has 120,000 miles on it. This vehicle will make a perfect first car or a great project car for anyone who wants to dive into easy to work on BMWs. I have included all the paperwork from the previous owners as well as a book on wiring diagrams for the vehicle. Below is a list of some of the minor problems with the car.

BMW preparing new M4 GTS with water injection
Fri, Mar 6 2015Last month, BMW revealed a new safety car for the MotoGP series. Only instead of just taking one of its production models and giving it some flashing lights, special livery and emergency equipment, the Bavarian automaker used the specially equipped M4 to showcase a new water injection system. And now word has it that the tech is being worked into a new M4 GTS. The system sprays water into the combustion chamber in order to lower the temperature of the air and increase the engine's efficiency, thus allowing it to produce more power without overheating, and relying less on ambient temperatures. It does require refilling a 1.3-gallon water tank in the trunk, though. According to Car and Driver, it's that same system that BMW will be installing in the new M4 GTS, taking the place of previous M3 GTS specials. If precedent is anything to go by, the M4 GTS will also be stripped of excess weight and feature a tighter suspension, stickier tires and more, in order to make BMW's muscle coupe even more hardcore and focused for the track. We could be looking at a debut as early as Pebble Beach in August.
Color me electric: a nine-year-old designs a crayon-colored Mini wrap
Tue, Nov 14 2023Perhaps one is never too young to help design the look of a car … with the help of a box of crayons. DonÂ’t tell nine-year-old Oliver Gorrod, who lives in Oxfordshire in England, that it canÂ’t be done. Young Oliver has finished first in a contest sponsored by MINI Electric in the U.K. and crayon-maker Crayola to create an exterior color wrap for the EV that “champions nature.” “I like the idea of all cars being electric, as they are better for the environment, animals and the planet. My car is designed as camouflage, so it blends into natural environments,” said the young man, who was among hundreds of entrants aged from four to 10 years from the U.K. Oliver wins the honor of his design being featured as a vinyl wrap for a car (he only wins the wrap) and a bundle of Crayola art materials for himself and his school. Oliver will also get an invite to visit MINI Plant Oxford for a private tour. “The creativity of the designs were fantastic," said Federico Izzo, director for MINI UK & Ireland. "We are excited to bring OliverÂ’s design to life and hope he will continue to innovate and dream big in the future.” Added Jade Childs of Crayola, “We are delighted to share Crayola art materials with Oliver and his class as part of the competition prize, and we hope they will continue to be inspired and express themselves as they explore, discover, play, pretend, and dream.” Design/Style Green BMW MINI Green Culture Hatchback Electric
BMW i3 with range extender won't get all the EV tax benefits in NJ
Wed, Jun 4 2014Everyone loves that new-car smell, but not everyone loves that new-car tax. And whoever in New Jersey thought the extended-range version of the BMW i3 plug-in would be exempt from said tax was sorely mistaken, Green Car Reports says. To paraphrase the Garden State's favorite son, Bruce Springsteen, the first kick those drivers will take is when they hit the ground. BMW said last year that the BMW REx would qualify for new-car tax exemptions in New Jersey and in Washington State. The car's all-electric range was recently estimated at 72 miles and it has another 87 miles of gas-powered range-extended capability. Unfortunately, the range extender not only tacks on $3,850 to the car's sticker price but adds on almost that much again because New Jersey's seven-percent sales tax applies to all cars with any sort of gas-powered engine. BMW didn't respond to a request for comment about the New Jersey situation from AutoblogGreen. In other New Jersey electric vehicle news, the Consumer Affairs Committee of the New Jersey State Assembly will discuss the legality of Tesla selling directly to consumbers tomorrow. The extended-range i3 is involved in a different issue on the other side of the country. BMW said earlier this year that the REx would qualify for California's white zero-emission vehicle stickers that allow for solo access to high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. These unlimited white stickers can go on any EV, but the REx version only qualifies for the green stickers, which are designated for plug-in hybrids and extended-range plug-ins and the state has run out of those.
