I am selling a 2010 BMW 550i M Series with 28,000. This car is in great cosmetic shape considering this is a Hurricane Sandy Flood salvage car. Pictures are current.  The water was extremely low never making it above the bottom of the seats, which is very clear.  there is only one area that left a water mark as pictured and it was in the rear sub trunk below where the spare tire was located. Physically its great there is only one major scratch on the rear bumper from unloading it when it was delivered. It does run and drive, seems to function aside from the front power seats.  The leather as you can see looks nearly new and so does the exterior as well.  I did take out the front and rear seats out to dry everything out prior to starting the engine.  Also checked the pillars for module there which are fine. The only obvious further work required would be to repair the front power seats which will need modules and most likely motors.  The airbag modules in the pillars and center console are dry and functioning as water never went beyond lower seat height. The car may have been in 12" only of water from ground level as water mark show. This in total needs roughly $1,000 in used parts to function properly.  Don't miss out on this $40,000 car for nearly half the price!

Items required to complete project:

Front seats repaired could cost from $150-400 per seat to rebuild, need seat module for certain, motors may work
PDS parking sensor module $120 on ebay located in sub trunk
Harmon Becker MULF2 module secondary Bluetooth also located in sub trunk about $200

There maybe some other things needing replacement but from all functions this is what we came up with in one day of examination. Feel free to come see it or bring your mechanics

BMW i3s traction control tech going in all BMW, Mini cars

Wed, Jan 3 2018

The BMW i3s is essentially a warmed-up version of the i3 electric car we all know and love. The performance boost isn't huge — just 14 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque — but it also gets a new suspension, wheels and tires as well as an improved traction control system. We found the car to benefit from all the updates when we drove it for our First Drive Review, but now BMW has offered up more details on just how the traction control system of the i3s helps make it better to drive. The company says it'll expand the technology to all future BMW and Mini models as well. The i3s's system is calibrated to help it to pull away quickly from a stop, making full use of the instantaneous torque offered by the electric motor. It also improves stability when accelerating out of corners, when using regenerative braking and, of course, when the road conditions are less than ideal. The results are palpable, and with the other improvements the i3s definitely feels stronger off the line, as we found on our drive. It's also about a half-second quicker to 60 miles per hour, at 6.8 seconds. The secret is in the response time of the stability control, which BMW claims is 50 times faster than the conventional system. This is made possible by moving the control process into the powertrain itself, rather than a remote unit. This reduces the signal path and, thus, the response time of the traction control system. BMW's Head of Chassis Development, Peter Langen, said of it, "With their high levels of torque and instantaneous responses to every movement of the accelerator, electric motors already make significantly higher demands on driving stability systems than conventional power units." While engineered to make the most of the electric motor, BMW says the shorter cycles of this traction control system show promise for internal combustion vehicles as well. As such, we'll begin to see the improved technology applied across the BMW and Mini lineups going forward. Related Video:

BMW, Toyota outline new tech joint venture, new sports car

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

Back in June, Toyota and BMW announced a "memorandum of understanding" outlining plans for the two companies to join forces on future products and technology development. On Thursday, they signed a more formal and binding agreement that goes further into detail about the partnership, and it all sounds pretty exciting. The two announced they will work together in four main areas:
Joint development of a fuel cell system
"Set up a feasibility study to define a joint platform concept for a mid-size sports vehicle"

Reveal of next-gen BMW 7 Series set for June 10

Wed, Jun 3 2015

Executive vice presidents of the world, your next sedan is debuting in just a few days. BMW is finally taking the wraps off the next-gen 7 Series on June 10, and the Bavarian brand's teaser video provides a few early hints about the high-class model. Highlighting a 750Li, the camera in the teaser swoops around the sedan to show off its laser headlights. The badge for BMW's Carbon Core also gets some of the limelight here to proclaim the extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic. This clip doesn't give much more away, though. However, BMW has already spilled the beans about some of the other futuristic features for the new 7 Series in an earlier tease. The sedan is essentially a rolling technological showcase and offers functions like remote-controlled parking that's run from the key fob. Inside, using the infotainment system is possible with three-dimensional gesture control by waving your hand in the air in the right area. The extensive amount of CFRP in the passenger cell also helps save 287 pounds over the previous generation. If buyers are really looking for opulence, they can also reportedly order a massive, panoramic glass roof and a leather-covered engine cover. Expect a full rundown of all of the 7 Series' lavish features when the sedan debuts.
