A little history on the car as it does have a Colorado Rebuilt Title. I purchased this vehicle for my mother from a dealer who specialized in luxury and exotic vehicle exports. He showed me pictures of the car which I still have as it came from the auction. It had absolutely no damage as a matter a fact, it still was a CPO (certified pre-owned BMW) meaning it was still under full manufactures warranty bumper to bumper. Additionally, it had the service plan from BMW meaning that everything from windshield wipers to brakes were replaced free of charge and as often as needed. This was too good of a car to pass up and it had all the warranties of a new vehicle.  When the BMW CPO warranty ran out in 03/22/2011 the car had 93k on it and I was ready to sell it. However, my mother would not let me she loved the car....I did some research and purchased an AUL 3 year 36k Estate service contract with enhanced electrical option. This protection plan was the closest thing to the BMW warranty and cost $3000.00. Now that the AUL contract ran out, I need to sell the vehicle as I don't feel comfortable with my mother driving a car without warranty. I don't have time to shop around different shops and I don't want her to deal with any problems that come along with an older vehicle. Something I noticed on a cold start when I needed to move the car in and out of the garage, it has a loud noise I have not addressed it as the car is for sale and it goes away after a few minutes. I did some research and it looks like it will need the secondary air pump fixed or replaced. I called the dealer and it is a $530 repair and common issue. No other problems. The car does have scratches and scrapes on the front bumper from pulling into the garage, however it is overall in good condition for a 10 year old 121k car. It was driven by a female and taken into the dealer for even the smallest things. This car has always been served my mom for the past 60k.

The only changes that have been made to it are the addition of a K&N reusable air filter and the wheels have been changed to non staggered 18" to allow for easy rotation. It also has LIFETIME ALIGNMENT from Firestone. This car comes with a Colorado rebuilt from Salvage title. This title was issued to the car after it was stolen in California prior to our purchase.  If the car gets stolen then Insurance has thirty days to recover the vehicle, if the car is not recovered in thirty days, Insurance pays off the owner and once the car is recovered, it is brought to the auction with Salvage title. In brief Salvage does not always mean that the car was wrecked. Again, this car has NEVER been in a car accident or had any body work! I do not have time for tire kickers or people interested in wasting my time and haggling. You are buying a 10 year old used car and should expect it not to be perfect! However, unlike most used cars, this one has every service record from the day it was put on the road...including the window sticker.

BMW recalling nearly 570,000 1 Series, 3 Series and Z4 models over electrical issue

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

BMW is recalling roughly 570,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada due to faulty battery cable connectors that can fail, causing the engines in these cars to stall. Of the nearly 570,000 affected vehicles, just over 504,000 are here in the US.
The affected vehicles include 1 Series coupes and convertibles (both 128i and 135i) from the 2008 to 2011 model years; 3 Series sedans, coupes, convertibles and sport wagons (both 328i and 335i) from the 2007 to 2011 model years; and Z4 roadsters from the 2009 to 2011 model years.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "the connector for the positive battery cable connector and the corresponding terminal on the fuse box may degrade over time," which can eventually lead to a break in the electrical connection and a loss of power in the vehicle. If the car loses power, the engine can stall, which could possibly lead to a crash. The Detroit News reports that BMW knows of one minor collision in Canada as a result of this problem, but no injuries.

2015 BMW 228i Convertible

Thu, Feb 5 2015

BMW history is littered with small, four-seater convertibles that offer style, spirited performance and driving flexibility. These days it's the 2 Series range, not the 1 or the 3, that carries on the droptop-driver's-car tradition, and the 2015 228i Convertible will the first flavor of it to hit US shores. With prices starting in the upper $30k range, conservative but attractive exterior styling and just enough interior comforts and amenities to feel like a true-luxury player, the 228i makes a strong initial case for itself as either a first or second vehicle. Concurrent with my First Drive of the 2015 BMW X6 M, the Germans brought along their new 2 for testing along some pretty mellow Texas driving routes outside of Austin. With roads that ranged from sweeping country lanes to small town streets, and weather changing handily from cold and misty to bright and warm, I got a good sample of what the new open-top 2 can do. Drive Notes I'll admit to getting behind the wheel of the 228i convertible with a bit of a bias: the old 1 Series line, including the droptop, was amongst my favorite BMW models in years. In terms of overall character, this 2 Series has mellowed a lot versus the chuckable, cheerful 1er. The steering response isn't quite so whip-fast, and the longer wheelbase means it's less willing to rotate overall. Of course, the 2, especially in convertible form, does feel better suited for the stereotypical small, premium convertible driver, too. Ride quality over our mostly smooth-road drive route was placid and controlled, and steering still felt steady and weighty on center and with lock added in. The car also offers really well-sorted protection from wind buffeting and noise, both with the top raised and lowered. I drove topless on the highway and on surface streets, and was impressed at how cozy I felt with the wind deflector erected and the windows up. Cold-weather convertiblers should do well with this BMW (especially when the xDrive AWD car launches, later in the year). Erect the folding soft top – a feature that's available at speeds up to 30 miles per hour – and the NVH experience is transformed. BMW says that the top-up wind noise has been reduced "by half" versus the 1 Series – a fact that I had no trouble believing after the first few seconds. Wind rush is basically eliminated with the roof raised, and the car becomes a downright conversational space thusly set up.

BMW 2 Series caught uncovered during shoot

Thu, 16 May 2013

Before we know it, the BMW 1 Series will be no more in the United States. Well, sort of. The current six-year-old coupe and convertible will be replaced by the fancy new 2 Series you see here, spotted completely uncovered during a photo shoot, with the 1 Series nomenclature being reserved for the hatchback and GT models that might not ever make it Stateside.
The roofline of the new 2 Series doesn't appear to have to changed all that much from the current 1 Series coupe, but the front and rear fascias have indeed been smoothed out. (Truth time: As much as your author adores the 1 Series, he's always found its rear end to be, well, weird.) It looks good, seen here in M235i guise, with large wheels, slimmer headlamps and large air intakes on either side of the front fascia.
The 2 Series is expected to come to the States, likely in M235i and 228i variants, though rumors suggest that we won't get a non-M 235i model. The M235i is expected to be powered by the N55 turbocharged inline-six that we currently enjoy in the 335i sedan, producing something like 320 horsepower. The 228i, unsurprisingly, should use the 2.0-liter turbo-four from the 328i, making around 240 hp. Both engines will almost certainly employ eight-speed automatic transmissions and six-speed manuals.
