Stunning 2003 5 Series BMW with the "M Sport" package. I bought this automobile from a BMW dealer when it came in on a new car trade-in. She is in excellent condition. Always garaged, never smoked in and always maintained to the highest standards (new front breaks including rotors and calipers in the last year and only synthetic oil that was changed in the last 100 miles). As I stated, this car came from the BMW factory with the "M Sport" package. Among other options this BMW has the M series leather covered steering wheel with built in hand controls and a factory rear wing (with rear third light). I have never seen this wing on any BMW and it changes the entire look of this car. Other options on this auto include Auto tilt and telescoping steering wheel. Power sunroof. Six way power seating including thigh support. Heated seating and CD/ stereo radio and IPOD connection for other appliances. She is riding on Hankook high performance tires with less than 5000 miles of wear. I have another full set (4) of wheels with Blizak snow radials (used on season) available to the high bidder. This extra set of wheels is NOT part of this auction and would be offered at $300.00 for the complete set of four. This BMW is Gorgeous and in excellent condition. Audi overtakes BMW as adulterers' favorite car brand
Fri, 14 Jun 2013As Audi hopes to surpass BMW as the top-selling luxury automaker, sometimes it has to look at the small victories, too. For instance, IllicitEncounters.com - a UK dating site for married folks (also known as adultery) - is reporting that a recent poll shows that more people willing to cheat on their spouses drive an Audi. Last year, this same poll showed that BMW was the car-of-choice for adulterers.
With Audi on top (pun intended) and BMW bumped to number two, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Volkswagen round out the top five car brands owned by unfaithful wives and husbands. Looking back at 84 years of BMW roadsters
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Today BMW is a top player in the luxury vehicle market, but it wasn't always so. With origins as an airplane engine builder early in the 20th Century, it broke into the automotive industry when it bought Automobilwerk Eisenach in 1928. That German manufacturer was licensed to build the Austin Seven under the name Dixi DA-1, which could be had in a roadster body style. In 1929, BMW dropped the Dixi name, and by 1936, it was building a car it designed in-house, the 326 sedan. That was followed by the company's first roadster of its own design, the swoopy two-door 327 of 1937.
XCAR picks up there, and gives a history of BMW's iconic roadsters starting with the 327, ending with today's Z4, and covering everything in between - including the beautiful post-war 507 of 1957 and the funky, plastic-bodied 1989 Z1.
The video, which we've included below, is a good history lesson and a great chance to see a bunch of classic BMWs, spanning 84 years, all driven back to back within the safe confines of a racetrack. When you have a spare 20 minutes, go ahead and take some time to watch it.
BMW working on 'FAST' CUV to slot between X1 and 2 Series
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Our spy shooters have caught a new FAST BMW testing that's rumored to hit the market in late 2015. Sadly, the word fast in that last sentence isn't describing the car's performance; instead it's an acronym that stands for Family Active Sports Tourer. Talk about a case of false advertising.
Despite it's speedy name, the FAST doesn't look ready to set any Nürburgring lap records. It rides on BMW's modular, front-wheel drive UKL platform that underpins the current generation Mini Cooper, upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer and next X1. According to our spies, its design is supposed to blend the looks of a wagon and a CUV on the outside with a large, useful interior. Conceivably, it could be offered with the hybrid system from the 2 Series, as well.
The new prototype definitely shares the styling of its front-wheel-drive BMW siblings. Up to the A-pillar, it looks pretty similar to what we know about the future X1. But the FAST has a more arched profile and lower ride height compared to the crossover's chunkier, more conventional design.
