1981 Bmw 528i. I Bought The Car, New. It Has Always Been Pampered And Is B+ on 2040-cars
Washington, Connecticut, United States
|
The car has over 300,000 miles and has always been perfectly maintained. The only issues are some minor rust spots. The seats and headliner show normal wear and can be replaced to make it almost showroom new.
Updates include: Euro lighting, 15'' three piece wheels, new tires, new stereo and speakers, Momo wood wheel, front and rear spoilers. I have also upgraded the internal bulbs of the brake lights to LED's which are about 10 times brighter than stock. The same for the rear side marker lights. The interior is awash in adjustable LED lighting throughout. The car has Nightbreaker bulbs for headlights, fogs and high beams. The alternator was replaced two years ago. The car has one year old Continental winter tires on, because I used it about 5 times this winter. I was going to buy summer tires before I decided to sell it. New Megatron Battery. Because it is 34 years and four months old, there are some small issues, like a sticking rear power lock. Nothing dramatic, or unexpected. I purchased the car new from Rallye Motors in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York in April, 1981 The car is located in Connecticut where it can be seen. Payment will be through PayPal. Funds must clear first, before the title is signed over. You will need proof of insurance and registration to drive the car away, or it can be towed without plates and insurance. The car is currently insured, and has valid plates from CT. |

BMW X4 order guide sneaks onto the web
Thu, 03 Apr 2014Much like we gave you an early look at the ordering guide for the BMW M3 and M4 (you can now configure those two, as well), yet another list of BMW options has leaked out. This time, the upcoming X4 is the target. We told you last month that prices for the X3-sized, X6-shaped vehicle started at $45,625, and now, we can confirm everything else for the newest Bimmer.
Only two trim lines will be available when the X4 arrives - M Sport and xLine. The former starts at $2,300 for the xDrive28i model and $1,900 for the xDrive35i, and includes as standard, 19-inch wheels (or optional 20s for $950), sport seats, an M steering wheel, a more aggressive body kit, a black headliner and the option of brushed aluminum interior trim. The xLine is $1,500 for the 28i and $1,000 for the 35i, and is made up exclusively of 19-inch Y-spoke wheels and dark copper interior trim.
Metallic colors dominate the pallet, with just a pair of gloss options available alongside the $550 metal-flake colors. BMW offers a pair of SensaTec leatherette options, along side a wide variety of $1,450 leather trims.
BMW pitting self-drifting car against drift champion
Mon, Mar 9 2015The BMW M235i certainly makes a capable drift machine. Last year, the Bavarian brand had five of them with the tail out in unison in South Africa for the Driftmob. The coupe even proved that it could slide without a driver's intervention. For the latest sideways stunt, the company wanted to know which was the better drifter: an autonomous car or a human. This clip is just the trailer for BMW's entire drift challenge video, and it seemingly gives away the ending of the whole thing. We're sure, though, that there must be something more to the stunt than what's on display here. The driverless Audi TTS from Stanford University was reportedly slightly faster than an amateur racer around Thunderhill Raceway Park recently, and BMW has also been working at this problem for years with things like its Track Trainer. Regardless of how you feel about driverless cars, it's amazing how quickly autonomous tech is progressing – even on the track. Next-generation BMW 5 Series spied in Touring trim
Wed, 10 Jul 2013It almost seems as if BMW just started selling the current-generation 5 Series, yet one of our spy photographers has already spotted a next-generation prototype in Touring form. Little is known about the luxury wagon in this early stage of testing, but it is expected to weigh much less than the current car, which, in 528i Touring guise with an automatic transmission, tips the scale at over 3,800 pounds. It is also expected to have the latest in driver-assistance technology. Despite the weight savings, and judging from the photos, it looks to have proportions similar to the current car, but don't expect the makeshift headlight and taillight clusters to make it onto the production model.
The crucial question for potential Touring customers in the United States is whether BMW will do the unexpected and import it here. The company's track record indicates that it will be sold in Rest of World markets only, but we're hoping that the next 5 Series will end the Touring's U.S. hiatus (and the 5 Series Gran Turismo's reign), which began in 2003 at the end of the E39 generation.
