I am selling my 89 E30 325ix.

The car has 114,000 miles and is in exceptional condition for 25 years old. You will not find many cleaner E30s, especially with low miles like this. This car appreciates in value every day. I have upgraded the sound system to Alpine w/ Bluetooth, and swapped the original 4-spoke steering wheel with an '89 E30 M3 3-spoke wheel, however, I have the original parts, which will come with the car.

This car is exceedingly rare, and to find one like this, with no rust and low miles, is a bit like finding a unicorn.

Here are the production numbers for this car in the United States by year:

1988: 310 sold
1989: 844 sold
1990: 699 sold
1991: 454 sold

As you can see, it's rare; you'll have 1 of 844 E30 325ix BMWs in the country...not too bad. Do a search for one, you'll be lucky to find more than a couple at any one time on craigslist or eBay. This has been my daily driver for the past year and it is unreal in the snow...unstoppable. Read the reviews—if you're reading this, you know.

It wouldn't take much to make this a show car, but it's definitely not there—it is a daily driver, an exceptionally clean driver, but a driver nonetheless. Do not expect a garage queen, concours-type car.

In the past year I have done the following:

New Timing belt
New Water pump
New cat-back exhaust (OEM stock)
New Bilstein HD shocks & struts (F&R)
New HR Springs w/ alignment (lowers the car by about 1.4"), rides beautifully...
New strut mounts front and rear
New front driveshaft
New front windshield
New Big O tires (all season radials, great in snow)
New Alpine stereo w/ Bluetooth phone connectivity and remote
New breather hoses
New Aux fan resistor
New idle control valve hose
New coolant sensor
New Bosch wipers
New ball joints
New Alpina floor mats
New 30% window tint all around

The interior is in excellent condition. There are a couple of small cracks on the dash (see photos, very common), but nothing major. The front driver's seat has a small seam that is slowly coming apart, but it can be sewn back easily. Apart from these, the interior is perfect. No tears in the headliner, carpets are perfect, Alpina floor mats are new.

The exterior is in very good shape. There are some spots where the paint is starting to crack a bit, especially noticeable on the trunk lid (see photo). I priced out having the deck lid painted, and it's about $500. There is some fading on the passenger side lower skirt as well (see photo). Otherwise, for 25 years old, the paint is in pretty good shape. The hood was repainted in DiamondSchwartz metallic by the previous owner and looks new.

Mechanically, the car is sound. Never gets hot, AC blows cold, heater is perfect. Cruise control works, fog lights work, blinkers work, computer works, everything works as it should. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow...or wait until it snows, even better!!

Horsepower/Torque: 168 bhp (125kW) @ 5800rpm / 164 ft/lb (222Nm) @ 4300rpm (redline 6700 RPM, rev limiter rpm)

THIS CAR WILL SELL QUICKLY AND IT'S LISTED LOCALLY IN BOULDER, COLORADO WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW 25 YEARS AGO. DON'T LET THIS ONE SLIP BY...

BMW shows up-armored X5 concept and we can't get near it

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

BMW has brought a slightly different concept vehicle to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Rather than something that foreshadows a future product or a new design direction, the Munich-based manufacturer has brought an X5 that's designed to be shot at. It's called the Concept X5 Security Plus. The Concept X5 name is a bit misleading, though. It's based on the 2014 X5, while BMW already builds an armored CUV, called the X5 Security. The concept tag has to do with the "Security Plus" part.
Engineered to be compliant with VR6 security standards - the current X5 Security is for VR4 standards - the Concept X5 will quite happily shrug off direct attacks from an AK-47. Thanks to sealed joints, high-strength steel moldings, high-performance steel body panels and special, polycarbonate-coated security glass, Kalashnikov's finest, whether used as a firearm or as a melee weapon, would be useless against this X5.
Built alongside the standard X5 in BMW's Spartanburg, SC factory, the X5 is shipped to a BMW facility in Toluca, Mexico for installation of the armor and security features. The company claims this delivers a more thoroughly engineered protective solution than aftermarket retrofitting.

2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo [w/video]

BMW Gets Much Closer To The GT Look And Feel It Seeks
The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is being launched to a pretty cynical automotive press brigade. You know it. We know it. Heck, even BMW knows it. We've just returned from driving it on the rather unforgiving and sometimes nasty roads of Sicily, and even before we got behind the wheel, many of our media colleagues were busying themselves doubting the 3 GT's very raison d'être. So, despite the always excellent Sicilian hospitality, the day's atmosphere was kind of fragile.
While the press in attendance seemed determined to nail every product expert to the wall for having been even tangentially associated with the larger 5 Series Gran Turismo, it seemed that BMW decided ahead of time to not introduce such a sensitive discussion topic. That strategy would do little to smooth things over as everyone started digging for dirt on BMW's so far clumsy Gran Turismo franchise.

Hamann BMW M6 Mirror can now cash the checks its body writes

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Anyone remember the Hamann Mirror? Need a refresher? The Mirror is German tuning company Hamann's idea of a BMW M6. It was shown at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show as an M6 Gran Coupe, sporting a ridiculous paint job and some meaty, multi-spoke 21-inch wheels.
Consider this car the Mirror Mark 2. Based on the M6 Coupe, Hamann has applied a similar visual theme, using the same 21-inch wheels from 2013. Whereas the Gran Coupe rode around with a stock powertrain, though, there's been no such restraint with the two-door Mirror. A fine 620 horsepower is available from the 4.4-liter, biturbocharged V8, an increase of 60 horsepower. Torque is up as well, from 501 pound-feet to a whopping 560, meaning this M6 has speed to match its looks. Hamann claims the Mirror's newfound grunt allows it to hit 62 miles per hour faster than the standard M6 (we'd certainly hope so), although it won't mention a specific number.
The suspension, meanwhile, has been dropped 1.37 inches, or about a third of an inch lower than the Frankfurt Mirror. That drop is complemented by the Mirror's bodywork, including the exposed, carbon fiber hood and the flared fenders, which can now accommodate the enormous 305/25 rear rubber. Hamann has also paid some attention to the front and rear aerodynamics.
