330i Bmw Low Mileage, Sports Model, Loaded, Runs Great on 2040-cars

Tallahassee, Florida, United States

I'll consider trade on a live aboard boat to use in South Florida and to the Islands. Sail or motorsailer preferred for economy but consider power 30' or more. Maybe trade my 39' Mainship Express with a blown Port Engine too. It is a great 2 bedroom condo on Tybee Island outside of Savannah. The featured photo of the left side with the 4 sale sign shows the damage and is the actual vehicle. My guy in Tallahassee will make it good for $375 but it isn't bad. The rest of the car is good. The interior shots are the actual auto. They don't show that the stitching let lose on the drivers bottom. A guy in Atlanta said $150 to fix but in Germany everyone has a lambs wool seat cover that is less and cool in the summer while warm in the winter. The other photos are STOCK PHOTOS - I neglected to take photos of the car and am now 300 miles from Tallahassee. I had family take the photo of the side with the damage as someone wanted to see the wheels and the interior as it was requested. The mats look much dirtier in the photos than in person but they could be replaced. While I do not need the car or the money I think the price I have set is a value. I'll work with someone deserving and finance part of the car but only with 1/2 or more down. I purchased this car for my grandson in Arizona after his mother had breast cancer and ruined credit. He made the payments from a part-time job. When he finished college and didn't want the payments any more I gave it to my step son as he qualified for the HOPE scholarship when he graduated HS and I made the payments. It was agreed that he had to make payments if his grades went below a B and he lost the HOPE scholarship which they did. He has a car that was left to him and a baby now so I got the BMW back. I put a new alternator, water pump and power steering reservoir in and have kept on top of all repairs. It is a fun car to drive but a bit low as the sports model and my back hurts getting in and out of it. The car has low miles averaging less than 10,000 miles a year and has always been in Arizona, Georgia and Florida where the roads are not bumpy or ice covered with salt. Also not near the ocean. Totally loaded with Moon Roof, Leather, 5 speed automatic that you can shift, sports package, premium sound. I'll sell it or I'll fix a few things and keep it to drive around Atlanta for good gas mileage. When you get into the car touch the proper three person memory button and your seat and side mirrors are adjusted for you. Turn on the premium sound system and tune in Sirrius radio if you want to pay for it or Pandora through the hands free bluetooth aftermarket device on the visor and hear it all through your radio until interrupted automatically by your phone. Shift yourself when the tachometer hits 3,000 rpms or let the transmission do it for you. Listen to the throaty exhaust that comes with the sports package and feel the sun on you from the open moon roof or just touch a button to open the rear of the moon roof only and exhaust the heat from the Florida sun. Power everything and fully loaded for it's day it has more bells and whistles than my Lincoln Town Car which has a lot. Fun to drive and gave me nearly 30MPG when I drove it down from Atlanta. Now the bad: I have a guy in Tallahassee who touches cars up for little money. He gave me a price of $375 to touch everything up. The check engine light is on and keeps me from selling it in the Atlanta area where emissions checks must be certified before a sale. My mechanic says it is the intake manifold but the BMW parts guy says they don't go bad. Before I would do anything I would take it to BMW, have the "check engine" codes anylised and and then fix what they say. Each manufacture has their own readers and a general reader that the independent mechanics use will give false readings often. That's why you fix one thing they recommend and then they tell you then it is something else that showed up after they fixed the first thing. I have a complete intake manifold with the parts and gaskets, a How-To book and UTube videos showing what is needed to change the intake. Or drive it as is. It drives great. I favor my Town Car for a smooth and care free ride and getting in and out but I drove the BMW around then drove it the nearly 300 miles from the Atlanta Suburbs to where it is now. For a small car it handles and rides great. The suspension is firm and the control is positive.Take a look and a drive and you'll fall in love with it if you love driving the "ultimate driving machine". This rear wheel drive, 6 cylinder engine automobile is easy to work on. The Sports model is low to the ground and while hard for me to get into and out of it is really fun to drive so I debated keeping it. I don't drive much so why have two cars? A car like this with more miles is listed for $9,000 at dealers on several places. This is not the little 2.5 L engine in the family sedan 325 that you can get for little money. It is the super tuned 3 L engine with suspension, exhaust sound, etc to go with it.

BMW 6 Series Convertible gets a little work done for 2015

Sat, 02 Aug 2014

Truth be told, I've never really found the modern BMW 6 Series to be a particularly attractive car, in Coupe, Convertible, or sedan Gran Coupe forms. This current generation certainly looks a whole lot better than the Bangle-fied Six that came before it to my eyes, but on the whole, I find much of the car's design to be fussy and awkward. There's a new 6 Series on the way, scheduled to arrive sometime in 2017 or 2018, but to hold us over until then, BMW is freshening its current range, as evidenced by this convertible prototype our trusty spies recently caught testing.
Will the changes to the current 6 Series be an improvement? Perhaps. Up front, there are restyled headlamps and a new front bumper, and at the rear, BMW has redesigned the LED taillamps to bring them more in line with the rest of the company's offerings. Aside from those modest tweaks, we don't expect much more to change on the Big Six - the interior will likely carry over with some minor tweaks (or new colors), and it's possible the powertrains could be massaged gently for gains in either power, efficiency, or both.
Whether you think this new look is pretty or not, this freshened 6 Series will likely debut sometime next year, while BMW's engineers and designers craft the all-new version. See it from several angles in our gallery, above.

BMW to offer carbon fiber wheels in a year or two

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

The Citroën SM sat on the first set of production glass fiber and resin wheels in 1972 when parent company Michelin developed the exotic hoops in order to take the SM rallying. It wasn't until 2008 that we got the first all-carbon-fiber wheel for passenger cars in the form of a prototype model from Weds Sports in Japan that remained a prototype. Australian company Carbon Revolution followed that a year later with its CR-9 all-CF wheel, first introduced on the Shelby Ultimate Aero and now available for independent purchase for about $15,000 per set. BMW could be the first OEM to offer entire wheels in carbon fiber reinforced plastic in two years.
The wheels - either all-CFRP or using a CFRP rim and alloy spokes - were shown off during BMW's Innovation Days in Munich and are products of the development work done on its i-branded cars. The full-CFRP wheel is 35-percent lighter than a forged alloy wheel, the hybrid alloy and CFRP wheel is 25-percent lighter, making for a decent drop in unsprung rotating weight. As demonstrators during a tech day the wheels aren't yet in the pipeline for production and EU approval, but an article in Auto Express claims that they could be on the market as soon as two years from now.
Other possible parts include a full carbon fiber steering wheel and propeller shaft, the latter of which is coming as a single-piece component on the new M3 and M4. BMW is also talking up its use of secondary carbon fiber - waste material from i3 and i8 production - that can be used for items like IP support structures, seat frames and spare wheels in place of traditional metals like aluminum and magnesium. There's an excerpt of the Innovation Day press release below with more details.

BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe caught without cladding

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Like it or not, the majority of BMW 3 Series variants are on their way out, and the 4 Series models are hotly embroiled in the testing needed to replace them. We've now driven the basic 4 Series, seen spy photographs of the 4 Series Convertible and both versions of the M4 and today we get a better-than-ever look at the 4 Series Gran Coupe.
And, mostly dependent on your personal disposition towards four-dour coupes, that look should be a pleasant thing. The long, swooping Gran Coupe may be roughly similar in size to the related 3 Series GT, but it has been sculpted with beauty in mind rather than crossover function. We expect that those details still hidden by the body cladding here, mostly front and rear, can be filled in by simply remembering what the standard 4 Series looks like and squinting your eyes a bit. Subtlety is thy name, BMW variants.
As for the mechanicals, well, we expect to have the very same greasy bits under the hood and beneath the car that are found in the 4 Series lineup, too.
