Engine
The 330 Ci's engine is a front-based in-line six-cylinder with a 10.2 compression ratio. The engine has four valves per cylinder with variable timing and camshaft. The car hits maximum power at 5900 rpm, representing 228 horsepower. The water-cooled engine has a water capacity of 496.5cc/cylinder.
Suspension and Fuel
The 330Ci is rear-wheel drive with strut front suspension. The front axle has a stabilizer bar and coil springs. The rear suspension is multi-link independent with both stabilizer bar and coil springs. The 330Ci has a 16.6-gallon gas tank and gets 23 mpg/highway and 20 mpg/city.
Braking and Safety
The automobile features four-wheel anti-lock brakes and a brake-assist system. BMW included a cornering brake control. The disc brakes are ventilated on all four wheels. With electronic brake distribution, the car can compensate if one brake is slipping. Other safety features include the three-point reel safety belts on all five seats as well as airbags front, side and roof.
Exterior and Interior
The exterior of the car measures 176.7 inches long with a width of 69.2 inches. It stands 53.9 inches tall and the full turning radius is 34.4 feet. BMW's attempt to make the back seat usable for adults resulted in little difference in front and rear headroom. Front headroom is 37.5 inches and rear headroom is 36.5 inches. Front legroom reaches 41.7 inches, while rear legroom is only 33.2 inches.
Standard Features
Standard features include dual power seats, a "memory" seat that retains personal settings and a folding rear seat to expand trunk storage. Keyless entry, power windows, and auto-on headlights are included, as well as power locks and a trip computer. Complete with an illuminated visor vanity and cup holders for convenience, the interior is made to be practical yet comfortable.
Warranty Information
While extended warranties are available, the standard warranty is four-years/50,000 miles and includes maintenance and roadside assistance. The drive-train warranty covers the same period. BMW guarantees the 330Ci against rust for 12 years and unlimited miles during that time.

Behind the Scenes of BMW's 'Drift Mob,' Part 2 [w/video]
Tue, 01 Jul 2014After spending four days practicing about a dozen drift stunt moves in a parking lot for an upcoming BMW "Drift Mob" internet mini-film, Rhys Millen, Sam Hübinette, Dai Yoshihara, Rich Rutherford, and Conrad Grunewald are finally ready for show time. We are brought to the huge urban traffic circle to see the stunts performed midway through the day to observe for a couple of hours.
The undertaking is massive, with multiple cameras set up, scores of crew members, a helicopter filming from above, a rigged pickup for car-to-car shots, sidewalks lined with security and plenty of curious onlookers, and oh, yeah, a major intersection of a top world city shut down for an entire weekend.
The five drifting legends are nestled in their identical red BMW M235i coupes, which have been modified with special handbrakes but essentially nothing else you can't get on a stock version, and are listening to direction from director Mic Rodgers and stunt coordinator Riley Harper. We're basically given free rein of the set, to shoot the cars, the drivers, and at one point, even hopping in with Yoshihara for one of the admittedly more tame stunts. Even then, the g-forces are so severe that they flip our cameraphone's video recording from landscape mode to portrait. Yes, this is a pretty cool day to be reporting on cars, and as we said during our first installment of our behind the scenes coverage of Drift Mob, we're honored to be the only US media outlet here to tell the tale.
BMW celebrates with M4 DTM Champion Edition
Tue, 21 Oct 2014Go back just a few seasons, and Germany's DTM touring car series was a straight-up competition between Audi and Mercedes-Benz. But BMW rejoined the race in 2012, winning both the drivers' and constructors' titles on its first year back and celebrating with a special matte-black M3 DTM Champion Edition. Last season, it won the constructors' championship but not the drivers', and this year it did the opposite. In short, it's been an impressive comeback for the Bavarian automaker, and to celebrate this year's accomplishments, it's followed up with the new M4 DTM Champion Edition for Europe you see here.
Based on the new M4 coupe - which forms the basis for BMW's DTM challenger as well as its pace car - the Champion Edition is distinguished by its special livery: The orange grille frame, the matte black hood and trunk with multicolored stripes, the black stripes along its shoulder and rocker panel, and the blacked-out 19-inch wheels all to pay homage to champion Marco Wittmann's racecar, as does special lettering on the rear windows.
Other enhancements include black front splitter and skirts, carbon front flaps and mirror caps, rear spoiler and carbon diffuser, while autographed sill plates and carbon interior trim with the car's serial number adorn the cabin. Only 23 examples will be offered, symbolic of the number adorning the winning tin-top racer and the flank of this special edition as well.
Watch a trio of Santas ride up Mulholland Drive
Wed, 25 Dec 2013Santa Claus might have his eight reindeer - or nine, when it's foggy - to help him deliver presents in most parts of the world, but in southern California, it looks like he's traded up from Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and company to BMW, Yamaha and Ducati. RNickeyMouse is usually the place to check out spectacular motorcycle crashes on video along LA's Mulholland Drive, but a recent video caught a trio of Santas carving up the iconic, twisty road.
The three Santas are together, riding what appears to be a BMW S1000RR, Yamaha R1 and a hard-to-tell custom bike that could be a Ducati 1098. The video, which is posted below, also catches a bonus Santa riding solo on another S1000RR. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a cool bike!
