I bought this BMW used as a daily driver, I have all the maintenance records since I have owned it.  this car is not perfect, it has its flaws cosmetically, but mechanically it runs like it should.  I have had the seat damaged repaired but not replaced, it looks good, but see the pictures, as I have tried to show the repairs.  This has been a fun car to drive, and I have been driving it everyday to work, which is about 30 miles each way on the freeway, without one breakdown, since I have owned it.  all the tires have good tread on them, tires should last another 20,000 miles.  I drive this call daily, so the mileage listed is what the vehicle had when I posted this listing, please email me for updated mileage.

Oil has just been changed and just had it serviced to check for any other issues, none showed up.  New windshield wiper blades, just replaced the plastic cowling under the windshield, small chip in windshield, professional fixed.  Rims are in good shape, but are loosing their finish and need to be refinished to look new.  Glass rear window, no tears in convertible top, everything works fine.  Air conditioning gets cold, heater and seat warmers work great, standard radio with the Harmon/Kardon sound system.  Wood grain style trim on the dash and door panels.  The vehicle comes with a California car cover.

Please look at pictures closely, ask questions if you are not sure.  I would suggest that you have an independent mechanic do a inspection prior to purchasing it for your peace of mind.  The car does not come with any warranty, either implied or suggested.
I have a clean title in hand.  The vehicle is advertised elsewhere and the seller reservers the right to cancel this listing at anytime.  I accept cash, Paypal, or wire transfer.  All funds must clear, prior to the title or car being released.

I have tried to describe all the flaws and not hide anything, and I don't believe I have forgotten anything, but it is up to the buyer to have the car inspected and verify the overall condition of the vehicle.  There isn't a warranty on this car implied or otherwise, it is up to the buyer to verify overall condition of the car prior to bidding, please ask questions.  The vehicle is being sold as is, where is.  Seller will cooperate with buyers shipping company and deliver car within 20 miles of current location.

Had the car looked at by a mechanic, and he told me that the power steering hoses need to be replace, the rear shocks also need replaced, and one of the fan belt tensioners is making noise.  The car is scheduled to have these items replaced.  Other than that, the car is in great shape for it's age.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

BMW X4 Concept is no Shanghai surprise

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

"One in four new BMW cars is now a BMW SAV." If you're new to BMW parlance, SAV stands for Sports Activity Vehicle, a vehicle type most of us more commonly refer to as a crossover, and that statistic, which comes straight from the automaker itself, tells you all you need to know about why the X4 Concept you see above exists.
Like its larger X6 sibling, the BMW X4 Concept tries to shove a crossover in a mold shaped vaguely like a fastback coupe. Put another way, the X4 is likely to be a polarizing design, though perhaps not to the extent that the X6 divided opinions. As for us, we definitely prefer the styling of this X4 Concept, with its strong character lines and impressive wheel-to-bodyside ratio, over that of its bigger brother. That said, we're sure the AMC Eagle comparisons will begin in earnest starting right about... now.
Dimensionally, it seems the most obvious machine with which to compare this X4 Concept is the 3 Series Wagon - we're not sure if it will be as spacious inside as the 3 Series Gran Turismo. A two-inch stretch in the wheelbase ought to bring a commensurate improvement in legroom, and a body that's nearly five inches longer should be a boon for cargo capacity. Of course, that fastback roofline will surely cut down on the car's roominess inside, but we'll have to wait for the final production model to judge its true capabilities.

BMW and Mini shuffle NA management, McDowell to retire

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

BMW and Mini recently shuffled top personnel in their design departments, and now BMW of North America will reorganize its management to improve customer relations. Peter Miles (pictured), currently the executive vice president of operations, will take a newly created position, vice president of sales channel development and customer relations, while Jim McDowell, vice president of Mini of the Americas, will retire.
Chris Koenders, president of BMW Group Netherlands, will move take Miles' spot as executive vice president of operations. David Duncan, western region vice president, will take McDowell's job as vice president of Mini of the Americas. Finishing off the management switcharoo is Peter Witt, who will move from his current position as Managing Director of BMW Sweden to take Duncan's job as western region vice president.
"We are intensifying our customer-driven focus and these changes will influence the entire organization to continue improving all phases of the customer journey from prospect to purchase and throughout the ownership cycle," says Ludwig Willisch, president and CEO of BMW NA. For more information on the management reorganization, check out the press release below.
