Up for auction is a 1999 BMW 323is sport package model coupe with the M3 body package FROM THE FACTORY. This is not a homemade clone car but an M3 clone car from the factory. The last of the e36 3 series made in '99 before the body style changed to e46. This vehicle has been lowered 1.5in in the front and 1" in the rear by H&R springs and Bilstein shocks/ struts. All it needs are aftermarket sway bars and strut/shock tower braces to be an official TRACK CAR. I don't have time or money to finish. The interior is very good with no rips in the leather. The engine has always run very nice and smooth. Transmission always worked very well. This has been the most dependable and nicest car I've had to this day. Always had on time oil changes and maintenance done. I've replaced the whole front steering system with new rack, power steering pump and lines to repair a binding problem in the steering only to find that it was the upper strut bearings all along! Both outer tie-rods were replaced as well. I also replaced the front marker lights and taillights with aftermarket ones.

I am presently repairing the vehicle still. The starter is not catching every time so, I will be replacing it. The vehicle needs front tires and the upper strut bearings to drive well. There is some mild body problems as seen in pics. If this vehicle does not sell, I will restore the minor dents and paint it. It also needs the front lower fog lamps as with highway speeds, these tend to get broken by small rocks. I also want to get the rims back to new condition. It has been sitting for almost a year and will need all new brake components in which I will replace for the winning bidder. I didnt want new brake parts sitting if it sits here throughout the winter. I am presently putting the original stereo system back in from the aftermarket one I installed. I do want to mention that this vehicle drives and handles way better than a stock e46 M3 being smaller and lighter. I love it, but I am stuck to payments on the M3 and must now part with it. Company car offers in decline, but not at The Cheesecake Factory [w/poll]

As businesses look to keep high-level employees happy, it seems that use of company cars can still be an effective method, although fewer companies are employing it. According to Businessweek, only about 25 percent of companies offer company vehicles as a perk, while less than half give allowances for employees to use their personal vehicles for work purposes.
The report says that one business still in the practice of handing out company cars is The Cheesecake Factory, which offers the benefit to top managers. And we're not talking about some econobox, either. The article indicates the restaurant chain hands out BMWs on a three-year basis - although the company's own report says that the type of vehicle "varies with the executive's level."
Still, we mostly agree with the article's conclusion that money is the best way to keep employees or attract new ones, even if a corporate car is a big perk. What do you think? 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible is easy, breezy, beautiful

BMW debuted its 2014 4 Series Convertible today at the LA Auto Show, and the sporting two-door will feature a folding hardtop - like the convertible 3 Series before it - and be offered in 428i and 435i guises.
The 428i Convertible is equipped with BMW's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, which pumps out 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque - good for sprinting from 0-60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds. The 435i Convertible gets the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, which steps up output to 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The topless 435i drops the 0-60-mph time to 5.5 seconds. Both cars come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and BMW says that a manual transmission will not be offered on 4 Series Convertibles in the US market.
The 4 Series Convertible will be offered in Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport trims. Pricing starts at $48,750 for the 428i Convertible and $54,900 for the 435i. Head on below to peruse the (long) press release for details.

2015 BMW i8 configurator is ready to show the future

Good news if you're one of the lucky few that can afford the new BMW i8. The high-performance hybrid's configurator has gone live on BMW USA's consumer website, meaning you can head in and customize till you drop.
If you've ever played with a BMW configurator, you'll instantly feel at home with the i8's. You have the choice of four trim packages (your author refuses to use BMW's pretentious "World" trim names), followed by wheel and exterior paint options. The interior choices are fixed to the trim level, so aside from trim, color and the choice of two wheel options, there isn't a lot to pick out on the i8.
