I am selling my 1991 BMW 318i Cabriolet. I have owned this car since 2003. Overall the car is in decent shape, I drive it regularly. There are a few dings that would be normal with a car of this age, the paint is ok, but not great. There are a couple spots of rust that could be repaired.  The engine runs smooth and strong, I recently replaced the vacuum lines as well as the idle control valve, clutch, and tires. A/C works. The car still needs a rack and pinion, so there is no power steering at this time. The muffler and shocks need to be replaced as well. The timing chain has not been changed, this is something that should be done, I believe the reccomedation is every 60,000 miles. The convertible top is getting old and could be replaced, but still works. I have had no mechanical issues with the car, I would be comfortable driving the car across the country, which I have done in the past. I do not know the exact mileage since the odometer stopped working at 165,000. My guess is that there is about 200,000 miles on the car. The oil has been changed regularly.

I am selling the car because I have taken another 318i on and I do not need two. With a little TLC this would be a great car. I have watched the value of this car go down during my ownership and have noticed it coming back up the past couple years. I believe they are gaining popularity since they are unique and fun to drive. If you are at all mechanically inclined they are a easy car to work on.

Mini nixes plans for 7-seater, Countryman to stay largest model

Sat, 08 Mar 2014

Contrary to popular belief, it seems that Mini's growth plans do have a limit both in size and number of models. During the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, it unveiled the six-door Clubman concept (pictured above) that was 4.4-inches longer and about two-inches wider than even the current Countryman crossover. Mini design chief Anders Warming says that this is the new size limit for its models, and the BMW subsidiary isn't building a larger, seven-passenger vehicle above the current Countryman.
"We won't build anything bigger than the Countryman, not at this moment. You should be able to park a Mini in a city, so a Countryman or this new Clubman is as big as it should be," said Warming to Auto Express in Geneva. Rumors going back to last November, pegged the Mini as developing an even larger vehicle to take on mainstream CUVs.
While Warming is ruling out a bigger Minis for now, a smaller one like the Rocketman concept still might be in the cards. He said that the project has been warmly received but still had to be investigated because "it's a numbers game." So if bigger Minis aren't coming, there still might be a slim chance for a smaller one.

BMW 02 Series mini-documentary makes us fall in love all over again

Sun, 24 Mar 2013

BMW's current reputation of building Ultimate Driving Machines can be traced back through history all the way to 1966, when the German automaker introduced the world to its 1600-2 two-door at the Geneva Motor Show. The car's name was simplified in 1971 to BMW 1602, and it went on to spawn the 2002, one of the most famous BMW models of all time.
BMW looks back on its past successes in a video that you can see below. As the automaker itself says in the video description, "This series was extraordinarily successful in reinterpreting the concept of the sports saloon and played a major role in motor sport long after production had come to an end." The 2002 would be replaced in 1975 by another legendary model from BMW: the 3 Series.
We'd be lying if we said we didn't long for something along the lines of the classic 2002 from BMW today. Since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, join us in remembering the cars that helped make BMW a household name by scrolling down below.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of
