1975 Bmw 2002 on 2040-cars
Harbor Beach, Michigan, United States
Send me an email at: frederica.poellot@vfemail.net .
1975 BMW 2002. I have owned the car for roughly two years, and when I purchased it I had it shipped here from Reno,
NV. The time I had the car it was garage kept and did not see snow. I did drive it daily April through October,
including multiple 5 + hour trips with no issues, besides dealing with people honking and giving the thumbs up or
hang loose hand gesture (this is a very common occurrence). The car is in excellent shape and has very little rust
considering it was in a dry climate most of its life. I recently took it to Nikolas Motorsports where the entire
engine was rebuilt, which cost roughly $7500. I have the receipts. The engine also has a Weber 38/38. (Engine has
only 38 miles on it, the odometer reads 55,xxx). I was also told that the car has a TII block and a hotter cam, but
cannot verify without cracking the head open.
Parts included in rebuild:
- Ceramic coated pistons and bearings (bored .030 over)
- Engine gasket set
- Rod bearing set
- Main bearing set
- Chain guide
- Head gasket set
- Crankshaft
- Piston ring set
- Rod set
- Head bolts
- Oil pump
- Rod bolts/nuts
- misc. parts
(All engine work has a two year warranty by Nikolas Motorsports)
In addition to engine rebuild, I also had them install a new driveshaft and install new suspension bushings
throughout the car. I have all the receipts from the previous owner as well (Reno Rennsport, etc.)
Other upgrades include Alpine stereo system throughout car with bluetooth, 15" Rota rims with nearly brand new
Yokohama S-Drive tires, Ireland Engineering stage II springs with all around, dash cover (that's a plastic cover,
not the original underneath which has cracking), new window seals in rear and door seals (which need to be glued
better) and that beautiful vintage wooden steering wheel. I will throw in all of the original springs and tires.
I'll even throw in the extra wooden steering wheel, although I feel this one looks better, don't you?
The bad:
I tried to take pictures of all the bad with this car, although none of these issues are severe or major.
- Tears in both seats.
- Speedometer glass fell out, but I do have it, just never got around to putting it back in.
- Rear of headliner is tacked in (in pictures).
- Hood has a weird cracking rust spot, which was POR15'd by previous owner. Rust and cracking has stopped, just an
eye sore.
- Misc. chips and dings on body (I drove it daily, as did the previous owner in Reno...isn't that what you're
supposed to do?)
- Right Window sits kind of funky when rolled up all the way, an easy fix I just never took it apart to make it
perfect.
- Missing washer fluid reservoir.
- Missing left license plate light.
I have tried to list everything about the car as thoroughly as possible along with many pictures, but would be glad
to take any additional pictures upon request.

2015 will be the biggest year ever for cars at CES
Fri, Jan 2 2015Like the SEMA Show, major automakers are paying increasing attention to the CES, with 2015 expected to be one of the most auto focused yet. Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota, General Motors, Hyundai, Mazda, Audi, BMW and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will all be in attendance when CES 2015 kicks off next week, taking up a record-breaking 165,000 square feet of space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. "We've come a long way from a single car on a carpet," Ford's Alan Hall told Bloomberg. Unlike SEMA, or a more traditional auto show, like the upcoming festivities in Detroit, CES doesn't necessarily focus on entire cars or the way they perform, but on the way our technology will interact with vehicles, and in how those vehicles will deliver information to drivers. "CES has become a major launch point for a lot of the big automakers," IHS tech analyst Mark Boyadjis told Bloomberg. "CES is a way for them to get on a global stage for technology." As for what kind of wares automakers will trot out in Las Vegas, we already know that BMW will show off an autonomous i3 electric car that can navigate its way through a multistory car park and can be hailed via a smartwatch app. According to Bloomberg, Hyundai will show off its own smartwatch app for the Genesis sedan, while Audi and Mercedes-Benz will show off autonomous vehicles next week. Automakers won't be the only companies looking to capitalize on CES. Tech firms, like chipmaker Nvidia, are becoming increasingly involved in the automotive game and will be in town showing their wares off to OEMs. "Two years ago, our booth would have been filled with PCs and people playing video games," Danny Shapiro, Nvidia's senior director for automotive business, told Bloomberg. "This year we made a strategic decision to shift the focus of the booth on automotive and de-prioritize some of the other things." Needless to say, you can expect to see a lot of news out of Las Vegas come next week. Stay tuned. BMW 5 Series future: 3-cyl engines and 600-hp M5
Fri, Jan 9 2015What if we told you the next BMW M5 would crest 600 horsepower? You probably wouldn't be too surprised, considering the steady increase in output that's accompanied each preceding generation. Now, what if we told you that the next BMW 5 Series would be available with a three-cylinder engine? Yeah, that'd be a surprise. But it may be a reality, according to a new report from Car. In its roundup of information on the next-gen BMW 5, code-named G30, the Brit mag predicts the new sedan will arrive in the summer of next year riding on an all-new platform that trims nearly 180 pounds of body fat through the use of high-strength steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. That platform, called the CLAR, which is short for Cluster Architecutre will give birth to not only a new 6 Series, but (for some reason) a 5 Series Gran Turismo and a Touring model, which won't likely be sold in the US. It will also underpin the 7 Series, eventually. Under hood, the lighter 5er will be paired with a new 1.5-liter, three-cylinder turbodiesel for the entry level 518d. This is the same three-pot oil-burner found in the 2 Series Active Tourer and Mini Cooper D. Of course, considering how little of BMW's actual engine range is sold in the US, we very much doubt the 518d will make it across the pond. More likely candidates for the US market include a range of a 2.0-liter, four-cylinders, such as the 272-horsepower 528i, and potentially a four-cylinder diesel. Naturally, there will be six-cylinder mills, found on the 530i, 530d, 540i and M550d. At the very top of the range, of course, will be a 600-hp M5. There will even be a range of hybrids and plug-in hybrids that are sure to further annihilate the formerly logical BMW nomenclature. Car expects the new 5er to arrive next summer, which we'd wager would lead to a debut at either the 2016 Geneva Motor Show or perhaps next year's Auto China, in Beijing. BMW joins the early holiday advertising fray with three new ads
Thu, 06 Nov 2014October 31 is no longer known as Halloween, or All Saints' Eve or even as that day when all children simultaneously develop huge cavities. It's now known as the day before Christmas/holiday advertising begins. Seriously, as of November 1, it seems like companies across the country and from every industry have declared open season on holiday ad campaigns. It's all premature enough that we're already feeling our inner Grinch showing, but at least some of the ads are better done than others.
Among them are new spots from BMW, which has arrived with this mini-campaign of three 30-second, Christmas-themed spots. There's a cameo from Santa Claus, who's at the helm of a sleek M6 Gran Coupe in one spot, while a 3 Series Gran Coupe slices through a slalom of Christmas trees in another. The final spot, called "Road Home", doesn't focus so much on the brand's "Ultimate Driving Machines," as it does the trip home for the holidays.
We've embedded all three videos below, so take a look and then let us know what you think of this seemingly perpetual holiday marketing calendar creep - and the BMW ads in particular - in Comments.
