This is an incredibly rare automobile, representing only one of 100 ever imported by Audi of North America. It is painted the color of the Audi race car. This is 1 of only 100
cars ever painted Aves silver by Audi, and the 100 cars were all their top of the line car, the S-8 performance sedan. Speaking of performance, this car held the track record at Nurburgring in Germany from 2003 until 2010. Paddle shifters allow the driver easy access to operating the transmission. This car was manufactured with Berona Italian Mahogony
which is graphite (grey) in color, and beautifully compliments the burgundy leather seats. Audi claims using this wood on only 23 automobiles, so you are bidding on a vehicle that is 1 of 23 ever produced! This vehicle includes a full complement of options including, but not limited to front and rear fog lights, front and rear parking distance control, navigation, power rear sunshade, and rear window side shades. The following items are all power operated: steering, brakes, seats, headrests, door locks, tilt/ telescopic steering, rear trunk release, and driver and passenger mirrors. All seats, front and rear are heated and air conditioned. This vehicle is constructed entirely of aluminum, so rust is not an issue. This particular vehicle was never driven in snow, and was stored every winter. The sale includes a complete additional set of brand new forged aluminum wheels, with Hanook snow tires with zero miles on them. Last but not least, the car is outfitted with a Bose AM/FM/multiple symphonic stereo system, making this vehicle both exhilarating and entertaining
to drive. Feel free to bid if you are ready to step up to the ultimate performance sedan, in impeccable condition. If you have any questions, feel free to call 616-446-0119.

Watch Stanford's self-driving Audi hit the track

Wed, Mar 2 2016

Sending a self-driving race car around a track with nobody inside seems pointless – there's no driver to enjoy the ride, and the car certainly isn't getting a thrill out of it. But the students performing research with Stanford University's Audi TTS test rig "Shelley" (not to be confused with Audi's own self-driving race cars) are getting a kick out of the numbers generated by the machine. "A race car driver can use all of a car's functionality to drive fast," says Stanford Professor Chris Gerdes. "We want to access that same functionality to make driving safer." The teams push the car to speeds over 120mph and the computers have executed lap times nearly as fast as professional drivers. However, they also spend a lot of time maneuvering at 50 to 75 mph, the speeds where accidents are most likely to happen. That way, the students can figure out how to incorporate braking, throttle and maneuvering to develop new types of automatic collision avoidance algorithms. Better technology, for instance, could have saved Google from a recent slow-speed accident where its vehicle was struck by a bus. During race days, students break into teams to perform different types of research. "Once you get to the track, things can go differently than you expect. So it's an excellent lesson of advanced planning," says Gerdes. In the latest rounds of testing, for instance, one PhD student developed emergency lane-change algorithms, while another recorded a skilled human driver in an attempt to convert his behavior into a driving algorithm. The main goal, of course, is to prepare students for something they may not have expected -- an automotive industry that is adopting self-driving technology at breakneck speeds. Audi launches 2014 TDI models with hilarious spot

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Audi has unveiled a set of new television spots that seek to continue the company's proselytizing of diesel-fueled luxury cars to the American pubic. With TDI versions of the A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7 available for its 2014 model year range, this is a subject that's obviously near and dear to the hearts of Audi marketers.
The first commercial, The Station, makes a play on the fact that many car buyers in the US don't associate luxury cars (in this case an A8) with those green-handled pumps at the "gas" station. The second commercial, Range, is a lot more informative (albeit less fraught with screaming and slowmo), discussing just how easy it should be to find a diesel fueling station in your long-range TDI before you need to fill up.
Continue on below for a look at both new commercials, or to have Audi explain them to you in great detail, via its press release.

CARB has 20 days to confirm VW's 3.0-liter TDI emission fix

Wed, Feb 3 2016

VW's diesel scandal has been in the headlines since last September, but solving the problem it proving difficult. Volkswagen Group has submitted a proposal to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fix about 85,000 vehicles with the 3.0-liter diesel V6 in the US, Reuters reports. CARB now has 20 business days to test if the plan actually reduces emissions. If accepted, VW could finally begin a recall and end the stop sale on vehicles with these engines. In a statement, CARB pledged to, "respond following a thorough and complete review to make sure the plan addresses the presence of the illegal defeat device and follows the necessary environmental, vehicle and public health and safety regulations." Neither CARB nor the EPA outlined the proposed repairs, but Porsche CEO Oliver Blume already suggested the fix for the engine in the diesel Cayenne. Examples from 2013 and 2014 allegedly need a new catalytic converter and software update, and those from 2015 and 2016 only need the improved code. It's not yet clear whether this procedure would work for all models with the 3.0 TDI. While the EPA issued the notice of violation against VW's 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel in September, the first one for the 3.0-liter V6 came in early November. By the end of the month, the agency broadened the scope to about 85,000 vehicles, including some examples of the VW Touareg, Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, and Porsche Cayenne. The affected companies issued stop sales on new models with the engine. Audi eventually admitted to regulators that it didn't disclose three auxiliary emission control devices in the powerplant's code and promised to develop a software update to fix the problem. CARB gave the automaker 45 business days to submit the proposed solution. If accepted, this repair would allow VW Group to end part of the emissions scandal, but there's no guarantee the regulators consent to this solution. Just a few weeks ago, CARB looked at the automaker's plan to fix the 2.0-liter TDI and rejected it, claiming a lack of detail.
