I am selling my project car, a 2001.5 Audi S4 that has been converted to RS4 body and interior and new engine tuned to RS4 stock specs.
The car is available now for the BIN price BUT will be re listed on Aug 1st 2013 for a 24 hr auction with NO RESERVE.
The car was bought in 2010 from the third owner in Kentucky (2nd owner was auction). I bought the car with 102K on it and drove it to 140K before any major work was done. After reading and learning about the problems this car runs into at high miles I decided to invest some serious time and money into it.
A shop in Denver had a Audi Euro code AGB motor in the crate for sale on craigslist that I purchased. This was a complete engine with turbos, clutch, all sensors and vacuum lines. I pulled off the stock K03 turbos and replaced with brand new K04's, swapped the intake manifold with a updated one, (crate motor was assembled in 99), installed new Bosch starter and alternator, new driveline belt, tensioners, ect.
When I bought the car it was a automatic transmission. I converted it to a manual while doing the engine swap.
Here is a list of all things done/parts used when project began. All new when installed and now has 9500 miles on it.
Audi crate motor
Borg Warner K04's
Bosch Starter and alternator
Bosch EV14 injectors
OEM RS4 motor mounts and tranny mounts
RS4 Airbox
Bosch RS4 MAF converted to Hitachi
Bosch platinum plugs
New oil temp/level sensor (was not on euro motor)
other mods
3" catless downpipes to Borla exhaust (used)
2 Vast stage 3 tuned ecu's, 1 for high altitude
RS4 Y pipe, accordion hose ect
aftermarket inlet pipes for K04's
AWE RS4 style side mount intercoolers with carbon shrouds
deatschwerks high flow fuel pump
Transmission details
Rebuilt c90 OE1 (work done by Gbox race transmissions in Boulder CO)
New reverse light switch
RS4 clutch, DM flywheel, pilot bearing and pressure plate
OEM slave cylinder
new axles
other new parts installed
Bilstien PSS9 coilovers- http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-suspension-kit-s4-48-086165
FCP Groton complete front suspention kit- http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-volkswagen-suspension-kit-passat-a4-a6-s4-13-piece-4d0498998
After completing the driveline I got bored pretty quickly and started searching Germany and the UK for a RS4 body.
OEM RS4 body
Front and rear seats, stearing wheel, shift knob and gauge cluster
The body was installed, taken off for prep, primed, blocked then painted Brilliant black then re installed. The body/paint has less then 2k on it. I do have (not installed) OEM euro tailgate that will come with the car. All final body work was done at Apex in Denver (Porsche restoring shop).
Other stuff...
Rs4 handles
s4 blue carbon weave trim
OEM RS4 side mirrors
RS4 aluminum window trim (not complete set)
Brand new front windshield
iforged senacas 19x10 with brand new hancook evo tires
Porcshe 18Z 6 piston front brakes with 350 mm rotors completely rebuilt with new crossovers, bleeder valves, seals and dustboots (less then 2K on brakes), powder coated red
pioneer avic d3 touch screen nav with bluetooth, cd and dvd player
Nearly all driveline parts are genuine Audi OEM parts for reliabilty reasons. My goal/s were to build a fun/reliable car and restore to like new condition. And when you drive it thats what it feels like! I was not trying to build a race car. The car has never been tracked or beat on. I live off of I70 in the mountains of Colorado and I only really get on it when getting on the highway on ramps. It was dynoed last month at Bluewater in Denver @ 390hp with 440 torque. This was plenty for me.
The car was completly looked over at 3zero3 motorsports in Denver and then again at Elk mountain AUDI in Glenwood springs. It passed both their inspections on all work done.
Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer as soon as I can.
I really looked into importing a genuine RS4 but it truely did not make sense to spend 40+ K on a high mile rs4. After shipping, importing, paper work, DOT inspections, smogging, ect it was just to much for me to justify. Or you can but a genuine a 60K miles one that is already imported here http://www.2bennett.com/body_audis_for_sale.html for $75K
Here is a link to my Flicker to see detailed work done. I will have more things/photos listed for Aug 1st auction http://www.flickr.com/photos/01vailshred/

11M VW diesels affected, Porsche and Audi under investigation
Tue, Sep 22 2015Volkswagen's diesel scandal is growing exponentially larger. In a new statement, the company admits that 11 million vehicles worldwide might be equipped with software capable of evading emissions testing. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency is beginning an investigation into the 3.0-liter V6 in Audi models and the Porsche Cayenne in the US, according to The Detroit News. The automaker claims that from its investigation so far, the "relevant engine management software is also installed in other Volkswagen Group vehicles with diesel engines." However, the company finds that the "noticeable deviation" in test results and real-world numbers only relates to the Type EA 189 powerplant. That still leaves 11 million vehicles potentially skirting emissions rules, though. Governments around the world have started taking a closer look into the company, too. In the US, the EPA has begun testing VW's V6 diesel because "they were certified well before we knew what we know now," Christopher Grundler, director of the EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, said to The Detroit News. The agency has started checking diesels from other automakers to make sure they're meeting the rules, as well. Germany, the European Union, and South Korea have instituted similar investigations. In response, VW is setting aside 6.5 billion euros ($7.25 billion at current rates) to cover servicing all of these diesels. The company admits that the figure might have to be adjusted depending on what happens next. The money is being deducted from its third-quarter earnings. Related Video: VOLKSWAGEN AG HAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT: Sep 22, 2015 Volkswagen is working at full speed to clarify irregularities concerning a particular software used in diesel engines. New vehicles from the Volkswagen Group with EU 6 diesel engines currently available in the European Union comply with legal requirements and environmental standards. The software in question does not affect handling, consumption or emissions. This gives clarity to customers and dealers. Further internal investigations conducted to date have established that the relevant engine management software is also installed in other Volkswagen Group vehicles with diesel engines. For the majority of these engines the software does not have any effect. Discrepancies relate to vehicles with Type EA 189 engines, involving some eleven million vehicles worldwide.
Audi doesn't even need December to set new global sales record
Wed, Dec 10 2014In 2011, Audi broke its previous-year global sales total at the end of November. It did it again in 2012. It did the same in 2013, and it's done the same again this year. The brand sold roughly 1.575 million cars last year. As of November 30 this year - its 47th record-breaking month in a row in the US - it had found new owners for 1.591 million cars around the world. Where is the action happening? Everywhere, with double digit growth year-on-year in China (16.4 percent, led by the Q3), the US (15.4 percent, led by the Q5) and Mexico (10.6 percent), and triple-digit growth in Brazil (105.2 percent). Even Europe, still struggling to break free of its retail lassitude, returned a 4.3-percent gain, with the UK and Swedish markets up by more than 20 percent. In November alone, Audi's deliveries increased 10.8 percent compared to last year, and it broke the company record for monthly sales, getting 146,250 units out the door. You can find more numbers and details in the press release below. AUDI AG: new sales record after 11 months - Full year 2013 volume already exceeded in November - Sales chief Luca de Meo: "Strong year-end sprint for Audi" - New-generation Audi A6* launched in the first European markets Ingolstadt, 2014-12-09 - Audi continues to post double digit growth in November too: Deliveries climbed 10.8 percent to a new record breaking figure for a single month of around 146,250 cars. The company once again grew significantly in all regions around the globe. Demand for the four rings rose in the Asia Pacific region in particular with sales up 17.7 percent. Since January, the premium manufacturer has delivered around 1,591,100 cars (+10.1%) to customers, thus topping last year's sales total after just 11 months. In the whole of 2013, the Ingolstadt based company sold around 1.575 million units. "Our performance in November shows that we are keeping up the pace as we sprint towards the year-end," says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. "Our large export markets in particular are driving the growth of the four rings at this time." In China Audi handed over 52,544 vehicles (+18.5%) to their new owners. The Audi Q3* provided a strong boost, with demand for the compact SUV growing by 49.8 percent. Since January, the Ingolstadt-based company has sold a total of 516,356 cars in the Middle Kingdom – and thus more than half a million units for the first time.
Audi calls R18 E-Tron Quattro its 'most complex race car'
Wed, May 14 2014Technically speaking, Audi's R18 E-Tron Quattro is quite technical. The German automaker says the diesel-hybrid is the "most complex race car" it's ever created. And we'll take their word for it. The Audi, which pairs a V6 turbodiesel powering the rear wheels with two electric motors, is all about connectivity, giving the car's crew the opportunity to constantly monitor the vehicle while it's racing. The car sends in a host of data each lap to the crew's computers, and the vehicle's telemetry system constantly keeps tabs on things like hybrid energy levels, cockpit temperature and boost-pressure levels. In all, the amount of data parameters is more than 100 times greater than in 1989, when Audi first tested a race car equipped with automatic data transmission capabilities. Audi first released specs on the updated version of the R18 E-Tron Quattro late last year, trumpeting the vehicle's advantages in competing in the LMP1 class of the 2014 World Endurance Championship (WEC). Audi made the car a little narrower and a little taller and it complies with a new WEC regulation requiring the front end set off by a new wing. Take a look at Audi's most recent press release below. AUDI R18 E-TRON QUATTRO WITH COMPLEX ELECTRONIC ARCHITECTURE • Telemetry connection between race car and pit lane • Permanent acquisition of far more than 1,000 parameters • Various electronic control units interlinked by a multitude of CAN Bus systems Ingolstadt, May 5, 2014 – The Audi R18 e-tron quattro is the most complex race car created in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm to date. This not only applies to the mechanics. The electronics of the most recent LMP1 race car with the four rings is more sophisticated than ever before. The age of electronic data transmission from the race car on track began for Audi in 1989. At that time, an Audi 90 quattro in the IMSA GTO series radioed eight parameters to the garage where engine speeds and a few pressures and temperatures were plotted on printouts – a tiny step from today's perspective, but one that provided important insights at the time. Today, an Audi R18 e-tron quattro on more than a thousand channels, in cycles that in some cases only amount to milliseconds, generates data of crucial importance to a staff of engineers at Audi Sport. At Le Mans, the engineers constantly monitor their race cars for 24 hours.
