In 2000 or '01 with +- 4500 miles the car was damaged in the rear and driver's side. It was sent to a body shop for estimate and the body shop totaled the car. The bod shop owner recognized it was all sheet metal damage and bought the salvage intending to repair it for himself. It sat in the back of his shop for a decade under a tarp. A couple years ago, the shop owner was preparing to retire and offered to repair the car for my cousin's husband (himself a mechanic). There was a list of finishing details left to do, but the car was through state inspection, titled, and on the road. My cousin drove it on occasion for a couple years, but usually opted for her SUV - she lives in the mountains and 20 miles of dirt and gravel roads daily would do the car no good. Now she's moving, and doesn't want to deal with the car ... so she sent it to me to keep or sell for her. I've been working on the car a bit at a time, but as the song goes, this car needs a younger man. I have yet to fix the horn (inop), the ck engine light (OBD says intake leaks), and the airbag light ( OBD says 1 impact sensor open). That will get it through Md state inspection. It runs and tracks like new, because it is new. The Driver's door doesn't shut quite right and has a slightly uneven gap in the middle. The shop inspection noted that used rear sub frame, R diff, and r axles are fitted and the R sub frame bolts are tweaked.
Here's a walk around in annoying detail:
Ft bumper clear coat peeling @ top center Plastic tab from front edge of outside hood release missing No ft tag bracket installed (I have new bracket - no holes in ft fillet) Headlight washers inop No ft L fender liner installed Spots of clearcoat peeled from driver’s ft fender top Driver's door operates fine, no air or water leaks, but paint flaked from top hinge in the door jamb and slight uneven door gap. Spots of clearcoat peeled from driver’s door guard molding Paint flaked from driver's rear door hinge in the door jamb. Door operates perfectly. Small crease/dent on driver's C pillar Spots of peeled clear coat on top of the trunk lid Shop inspection noted R sub frame, rear diff, and r axles are older than the rest of the car (r sub frame bolts mis aligned) Crack in paint on rt r bumper cover Clunking noise from rt ft Plastic underbody panels missing, bottom of rockers unsecured AND THE INTERIOR: Info display in cluster faded Ck engine light on (OBD diagnosed as intake leaks both banks) Air bag light on (OBD diagnosed as open to 1 impact sensor) Slight ding on steering wheel badge Horn inop Ft seats are older than the car, great condition, odd finish on seat surfaces Driver's door inner latch has slack Tie down eyes missing from rear of trunk floor 16” steel rim and usable, but worn out tire for spare Little storage box missing from pass inner trunk wall Lock pump runs excessively long, right rear door and trunk do not lock/unlock with power locks Gas odor in trunk if tank is filled / overfilled Back edge of package shelf mis-aligned Rear window has annoying tint Pass rear shelf speaker fuzzy (I have a spare correct speaker) Pass rear door spkr grill broken, speaker fuzzy, ( I have a whole spare door panel w/bose spkr grill and also separately another correct speaker) Original stereo sounds fuzzy (even at very low volume, both radio and CD) only when it's cold ??? clears up when it's warm (cowl drains are clear, possible issue with amp??? you got me) No radio reception AM or FM (antenna booster?)
UNDER THE HOOD: Rear covers missing from both headlamps (I have new replacements) PLUSSES: Runs perfectly, starts normally timing belt inspected and confirmed healthy Brand new Conti DWS 18" Tires 18" Audi accessory BBS's (RC’s?) has not been performance chipped or abused - absolutely stock engine and, oh yeah, UNDER 7500 ORIGINAL MILES !
The car needs some TLC but looks good, runs perfectly, tracks straight, and
for the right person has near show car potential. At this moment it has about
7600 - HUNDRED, not thousand - original miles. It must be the lowest mileage
B5 S4 in the country if not anywhere. The vehicle check program on e bay throws
a red flag for the salvage title. The title history shows it was delivered in I haven’t sold a car on ebay so I’m winging this. I’ve listed everything I know about the car. It is being sold as is without any warranty. I have the signed clear title in my possession. The sale is final. I ask a $250.00 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of close. Balance within 7 days of close. You are welcome to inspect the vehicle before purchase. Once the deal is done, the tags come off the car and it will be under cover awaiting you. If you have any questions or require other accomodations contact me, we’ll work it out.

US-bound Audi A3 Sedan spied testing
Fri, 25 Jan 2013As the Audi A3 sedan gets closer to its debut, Audi has camouflaged prototypes to take it on the streets for final testing. Last time we saw the A3, it was testing almost in the buff, but it was on a closed track so our spy shooters were kept at quite a distance.
Now that the newest Audi sedan is testing on public roads, our latest batch of spy shots gives us a more detailed look at the entry-level luxury player despite the swirly camo. Except for the oversized wheels and the fancy exhaust outlets and door mirrors, the production version of the car should look almost identical to the A3 sedan concept we saw in Geneva a couple years ago. Some of the details we can see include a good-sized panoramic roof that stretches almost halfway into the rear passenger space and signature Audi LED-accented headlights and taillights.
First official Audi R8 photo leaks
Thu, Feb 26 2015The next-gen Audi R8 makes its grand debut in a just a few days at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. However, leaks aren't uncommon for such a highly anticipated model, and it appears that the first official shot of the future supercar is now online. Autoblog en Espanol claims this is the first leaked factory photo showing the new Audi R8 completely undisguised. The single image depicts the supercar from the front, and it looks a lot like both Audi's own official teaser and the previous blurry image from Instagram. Based on this picture, the German designers thickened the outline around the grille at the front and added vertical slats at each corner. They also removed the gentle curve in the headlights in favor of a completely angular look. While the side blades were one of the major styling features of the original, their appearance has been toned down by removing the vertical, contrasting strip running up the body. Though the exterior design seems to evolve the R8 slightly, there are some big changes for the powertrain. Audi is ditching the V8 for the latest model and opting for two tunes of the 5.2-liter V10. The standard version gets 540 horsepower, and the Plus pushes output up to 610 hp. The top trim can reportedly hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. Although, there are already the rumors of other variants, including a turbo V6, coming later. Related Video:
Audi and Porsche squabble over future product platforms
Tue, 22 Jul 2014In the buildup to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi delivered an amusing video that worked on the playful rivalry between the German brand and its favorite frenemy, Porsche. We called it sibling rivalry, and at the time, it may have been just that. But just like sibling rivalries, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and that's just what seems to be about to happen in the formerly peaceful Volkswagen Group family.
A new report from Automobile calls out the growing animosity between Porsche, who is backed up by Bentley, and Audi, whose primary ally is Lamborghini. No blows have actually been thrown, although there is a fair amount of "he said, she said" going on.
As Porsche tells it, for example, the new global fullsize SUV architecture being developed by Audi isn't up to snuff, citing size and structure issues, as well as an inability to accommodate a wide variety of engines.
