Up for sale is my beloved 2010 Audi V10 R8. Exterior color is Ibis white, interior is black. It has the RTronic transmission. The odometer currently sits at 9200 miles. The car is covered by the OEM Audi Platinum extended warranty through 9/6/2019 or 69,912 miles.  This extends the factory warranty – let me know if you need more details.  I purchased the car last July with 4900 miles from Fairfield Audi in CT, where it was sold back to the original by its 67 year old owner. The car is in MINT condition.  No accidents, paintwork or scratches on this car.  Interior is as new, and because the car has the extended leather, it still likes new. The car was only hand washed by me, and the paint is in phenomenal condition – the car was ALWAYS garaged. Service was completed last year by Eurotech MS in Mahwah NJ, and will be performed again in the next month or so (it is due in November). I have not had a single issue with this car; it has truly been trouble free. It has never been tracked by me, and I assume not by the previous owner as well due to the condition of the car. The R8 was used by me purely as a weekend car. When I purchased the car, there was some slight abnormal wear on the driver side seat bolster, so I had that replaced. I am looking to unload due to our first child arriving in October – looking to get something fun I can throw in car seat in. I have all keys (2 sets & a valet key), and all manuals and R8 memorabilia that comes when you purchase the car.  Below are the factory options (of course the V10 has the standard LED headlights, CF engine bay, B&O stereo, etc):

  • -Audi OEM Carbon Sigma Sideblades
  • -Audi OEM Carbon Sigma mirrors
  • -Audi OEM Carbon Sigma interior trim (door handles, door trim, monoposto)
  • -Audi OEM Carbon Sigma door sills
  • -Extended full leather
  • -Alcantara headliner
  • -RTronic trans
  • -MSRP above $170k with all above options

Here are the additional modifications that were performed and are still on the car ($17k+):

  • -Tubi Rumore Valveless Exhaust (sounds AMAZING - $4500)
  • -DCTMS Carbon Fiber OEM Steering Wheel ($1500)
  • -Carbon Fiber OEM NAV surround ($800)
  • -Hardwired Passport 9500i – front and rear laser jammers; radar display integrated into rearview mirror & controls tucked next to cigarette lighter which are upholstered in alcanatara ($4000)
  • -Xpel Ultimate Self Healing PPF on complete nose of car ($2000)
  • -Front OEM Audi Plate delete grill (also covered in Xpel PPF - $800)
  • -Recent (2000 mile old) Michelin PSS on all 4 wheels ($1300)
  • -OEM Factory Audi Platinum Extended Warranty ($2300)
In the end, this is a great example with all the right options and upgrades in the right color. I am asking $122k with not too much room. This is truly a no stories car.  The sale will go through my friend who has a dealer license and as such any necessary taxes will need to be paid by the buyer. I will however cover any and all fees that would be assessed on the buyers end.  I have sold another one of my cars on 6speed and can provide a reference if need be.  Email me at chirag1 with gmail or call/text me at 732 586 0169. The car is located in Central NJ about 10 minutes north of Princeton and approx. 50 minutes from NYC. Newark Airport is 35 minutes away.

Notes and notations on the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [w/video]

Sat, 25 Jan 2014

This year is the 52nd edition of the Daytona 24 Hours. The 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona is also the first race of the year in the brand new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (TUSCC) With the merger of the American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series rewriting and revising the rules of American sports car racing right up until yesterday, we've made the journey to an intermittently wet and constantly freezing Daytona Beach, Florida with Audi to watch the new R8 LMS and every other competitor explore the limits of those rules on the track.
With a ton to cover - and a couple of videos below to watch, including some slo-mo qualifying footage and a hot lap in an R8 LMS - let's not waste time with chit-chat, eh?
Quick things to know about the classes and the leader-light system:

Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment

Fri, Jun 17 2016

Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.

2017 Frankfurt Motor Show | Observations on the Ferrari Portofino, Honda Urban EV and more

Wed, Sep 13 2017

Related: We obsessively covered the Frankfurt Motor Show — here's our complete coverage The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show kicked off the fall reveal season with an impressive array of powerful cars blended with forward-looking concepts. It's a seminal period for automakers, who find themselves at the intersection of disruption and opportunity. With that in mind, here are four takeaways from Frankfurt. The transformation of the curvy yet overbaked Ferrari California T into the Portofino is complete, and its coming-out party in Frankfurt served notice that Ferrari's entry-level sports car is much more formidable. There was nothing wrong with the California (and later the California T), but the Portofino features a cleaner look with stronger lines and an elegant resemblance to the rest of the Ferrari family. The California name is a good one. Used on a number of memorable cars in the 1950s and '60s, it's steeped in tradition, and certainly Ferrari will dust it off again. But switching to Portofino, the name of a scenic town in Italy, is a nice way to change the conversation and generate fresh interest in this part of the Ferrari portfolio. Man, people are stoked over the Honda Urban EV concept. Why? I assume it's the retro look that harks back to early Civics, and the lack of information about the concept itself. What people don't know, they're imagining. Honda hasn't even confirmed the range, the car is very small, and it likely won't be sold in the United States. With this dearth of facts, enthusiasts are filling in their own blanks. I guess that's OK. Count me among the intrigued. When I saw pictures of this thing early Tuesday morning, I was pretty excited, too. We do know Honda is expanding its electric strategy, and two-thirds of its new vehicles sold around the world will have some form of electrification by 2030. The Urban EV launches in Europe in 2019, and a hybrid CR-V rolls out in Europe next year. Unconfirmed for the U.S. market, it seems like a no-brainer to bring that version of the CR-V here. The electrification and autonomous tech parade of concepts continues. You gotta be there. It's the cost of doing business in the modern automotive landscape. This technology takes years to develop and launch, so the next best thing to remind the world you're trying to be cutting-edge is to show off lots of fancy concepts. Frankfurt had plenty. A couple standouts: The BMW I Vision Dynamics and Audi's Elaine and Aicon.
