2017 Audi Q7 starts at $55,750
Thu, Nov 12 2015The second-generation Audi Q7 debuted last winter, and we already drove it in the spring in Europe. Audi, however, kept US pricing for this lighter, more stylish luxury SUV a secret – until now. The 2017 Q7 starts at $55,750 (including the $950-destination charge), and that's over $6,500 more than the $49,225-base cost for the last-gen 2015 model (there was no 2016 version in the US). Buyers get some big updates when they pay the extra cash for the 2017 model. The switch to the MLB platform helps cut 475 pounds, and aluminum suspension components reduce unsprung mass. Audi's Pre Sense City safety system comes standard and can automatically begin braking the seven-passenger SUV if a crash seems imminent below 52 miles per hour. Three-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof are also on the normal features list. The options include high-tech upgrades like the company's virtual cockpit system, a color head-up display, and a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo. Audi's 3.0 TFSI V6 with 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and an eight-speed automatic is the only available powertrain combo for the Q7 in the US. Audi originally planned to offer the 3.0-liter TDI V6, but emissions problems nixed that. The second-gen Q7 is available in three trim levels here: Premium, Premium Plus for $59,750, and Prestige for $65,250. Company spokesperson Amelia Fine-Morrison tells Autoblog the first 2017s will arrive at dealers in January. Audi TT Quattro Sport Concept takes the next-gen to the extreme
Tue, 04 Mar 2014There's little doubt that the new Audi TTS and its 310-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder will be very quick when released to the general public. As a means of reminding us that Audi can do much more with the little TT, though, the German manufacturer has presented this, the TT Quattro Sport Concept, alongside its litter of new sports cars.
Complete with a 420-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine - yes, it really puts out 210 horsepower per liter - the TT Quattro Sport can snap to 62 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds. 331 pound-feet of torque is also on offer, meaning this one-off TT outguns the TTS by 110 horsepower and 51 pound-feet of torque.
An S-Tronic transmission shuffles the power about, while the car itself rides on a lowered and stiffened suspension. 20-inch alloys are featured with centrally locking, racing-style hubs. Those racy wheels are housed in wells that have had their arches stretched an additional 1.18 inches, which, along with the lowered suspension, contribute to the TT's aggressive looks.
2016 Audi S8 Plus burns the 'bahn faster
Thu, Nov 19 2015At no point during my drive of the Audi S8 last year did I think, "You know, this car could really use more power." With 520 horses on tap from a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8, the S8 is a damn good luxury/sport sedan. But I'm certainly not going to complain about a big ol' power boost, and that's just what we have here with the new Audi S8 Plus. It's got the same engine underhood, but power is boosted from 520 hp and 481 pound-feet of torque to a healthy 605 hp and 516 lb-ft. There's even an overboost function that increases torque output to 553 lb-ft for short bursts. That means the big S8 will run to 60 miles per hour in just over three and a half seconds. Hot damn. All that thrust doesn't come cheap, though; the S8 Plus costs $115,825. Of course, that's cheaper than the Mercedes-AMG S63 sedan, but the Merc is a decidedly more luxurious car. Still, a 605-hp S8 sounds mighty fine to me. Of course, a 520-hp S8 was already perfectly fine to begin with.
