Very Reliable, All Common Alfa Ailments Fixed. Alfa Romeo 1st Edition Quadrifoglio:

This is one the nicest and cleanest Spider on the market today. Well Over $17,000 spent (I have the reciepts) on all the improvements and upgrades, and hundreds of hours of my time. Plus an additional $8,500 purchase price a few years back.

Most all work was performed by Auto Veloce a highly regarded and rated professional Alfa Specialist / Shop in Miami. I have receipts and pictures for most all of the improvements. The paint( Correct Alfa Silver) and interior were redone prior to me purchasing. I had the Center console, that always cracks, redone in Genuine Leather. This car drives, looks and still smells like new. The engine is smooth, runs strong, burns and leaks no oil. She Runs at temperature all day and is extremely comfortable and reliable. The car drives straight, does not pull, is tight and does not vibrate at high or low speeds. The tires are in good shape with little tread wear and the rims are in good condition. The car shifts beautifully and the infamous 2nd gear Synchro is good.

This car is a definite head turner! Also everything that needs to be accomplished to make an Alfa Spider a reliable and comfortable everyday driver has been done.  All the known flaws that are in inherent to late model spiders have been addressed and fixed.

Recent (less than 14mo. and 5k miles) Updates & Upgrades Include:

  • New High End Convertible Top (The Frame is also new)and Rear Window.
  • New top of the line Carpet (including Trunk) and Alfa Floor-Mats.
  • Any rust on the floor-panels (common flaw to all 1980- 93 late models) was cut out and new metal was welded.
  • Floor panels were primed and painted with rust proof paint.
  • Heat and Sound Deadening Insulation was installed throughout.
  • New spare tire wheel housing .
  • Custom Center Console wrapped in Real Leather.
  • New Wood Shifter knob, Leather Shift Boot and Rubber Gasket.

This Quadrifoglio shows to have been adult owned and properly maintained. It spent most its life in VA. NC. and FLa. This car is stored indoors in my climate and humidity controlled one car garage at my Residence in Bal-Harbor, Florida. I will gladly show the Car live via skype to any serious buyer. I will also send a video of the undercarriage to any interested party. Prior to sale I encourage the owner to come with me and meet the mechanics that performed all the work. Im an Alfa Enthusiast however this was a hobby for me, therefore the mechanics can offer much more detail.

The car has about 47k on the odometer as cable was broken when I purchased this car about 2 years ago. The Engine runs perfectly. The paint job is a 6 out of 10 and the car has some minor / miniscule dings here and there but as its my daily driver im fine with that. To the untrained eye the car looks like new. The car fax shows no accidents but the left front fender did have some bodywork performed in the past. Prior to and then post purchase the car was closely and professionally evaluated and this car has no frame damage whatsoever. This Spider has a Florida State Title with no liens.

I inherited a 1978 Ferrari 308 and must now part with this Gem of an Alfa. My loss is your gain! $17,500 very firm. Note im taking a $8,000 loss not to mention countless hours of my time. Luckily I Dont need the money whatsoever, so please dont waste your time with low ball offers. You always get what you pay for. No other Alfa in the market today has had this kind of work done.

If you buy another one, sooner rather than later you will have to do all of the above and it will end up costing you a lot more than it did me. I intended on keeping this car till the end so i did everything that commonly goes wrong with these cars and more. Feel free to call me at (917) 684-6993 w/ any questions.

Compare to other Alfa's on the market, and this is the one you will want to own! Thanks for looking and good luck with your Alfa Quest. Remember luck is the crossroads when preparation meets opportunity.

Touring's Disco Volante makes us green with envy [w/video]

Tue, Mar 4 2014

In its entire production run, Alfa Romeo only ever built 500 examples of the 8C Competizione – just 90 of which ended up in the United States – and another 500 Spiders. That makes it a pretty rare car indeed, but it's positively commonplace compared to the Disco Volante, the version reborn by the talented and steady hands at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. In correspondece with Autoblog, Touring's CEO Piero Mancardi confirmed that the coachbuilder will only build eight examples of the Disco Volante, in colors chosen by their individual customers: one in black, one in blue, one in silver, the one in green you see here and the rest in different shades of red. That makes this particular example a one-of-a-kind work of art that we were privileged to behold here at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and you can see what we saw through the camera lens in the high-resolution image gallery above, or by checking out the video below. Argentinians find stash of never-registered, brand-new 30-year-old Italian cars

Fri, Apr 3 2020

While much of the world is sheltering in place, several new, never-registered Italian and French cars exited a 27-year confinement in Argentina. They were left for dead in an abandoned dealership that sold Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Peugeot models in a city named Avellaneda near Buenos Aires, the country's capital. Details surrounding the dealership are murky. Argentina's Autoblog (no relation to us) reported it closed at some point during the 1990s after the owner and his son died in violent circumstances. Automotive archaeology tells your author it likely shut its doors in 1993, because that's the only year in which the first-generation Fiat Ducato launched in 1981 and the post-facelift Fiat Tipo, axed in 1995, overlapped. Both are clearly visible in the photos. What's certain is that someone finally inherited the property in 2020 and wanted the cars gone as quickly as possible in order to sell it. The anonymous owner asked Kaskote Calcos, a local body shop that also runs a used-car lot, to haul them away via Instagram. We're guessing the firm didn't need to be asked twice.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Axel By Kaskote (@kaskotecalcos) on Mar 24, 2020 at 1:57pm PDT Many of the cars hidden in the dealership were made by Fiat; the photos show several examples of the Tipo, an Uno, a Tempra, and the aforementioned Ducato. An Alfa Romeo 33 wagon and a Peugeot 405 were also stashed in the trove. Most were stored indoors so they weren't damaged by sunlight or humidity, and images of the cars taken after they were pressure-washed confirm they're in like-new condition inside and out. We're told some even started, though for the love of valves and pistons we hope they got a new timing belt before being fired up.  Kaskote Calcos hasn't revealed what it will do with the cars. None are particularly sought-after, they're economy cars that were mass-produced and mass-destroyed, and their current values reflect that. You can get a post-facelift Uno for the price of a few Peroni pints in Italy. The fact that they're new, never-registered examples will undoubtedly increase their appeal, even if registering them could require slashing through jungles of red tape. As a side note, finding a 405 beached in a Fiat dealership isn't as random as it might sound.

CAR adds details to Alfa Romeo's five-year plan

Thu, Aug 9 2018

Much of this month's issue of CAR Magazine is devoted to Alfa Romeo and what we can expect from it in the next five years. Of course, they unfortunately went to print before FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne died (and it took a while for it to land in my mail box), so certain elements are bound to change in light of new leadership. Nevertheless, there are plenty of interesting tidbits to chew on. First, there are a few more details regarding the Alfa Romeo 8C super car, which was confirmed during FCA's recent five-year plan announcement. Unlike the last front-engined, rear-drive 8C, the new one would be mid-engined with the rear wheels powered by a version of the Quadrofoglio turbo V6 brought up to the 600-horsepower range, and some amount of electrification added to the front axle. CAR indicates a total output of around 800 hp and 660 pound-feet of torque. A carbon fiber monococque would help keep the weight down, and to keep cost down, reporter Georg Kacher posits its production will be farmed out to a third party like Dallara. Both pricing and performance will be interesting with the 8C: how much does FCA want Alfa Romeo to compete with Ferrari? Without Marchionne leading both, perhaps it won't matter. View 19 Photos Then again, how much it wants Alfa to compete with Maserati might, as the future Giulia-based GTV coupe could do just that. Apparently, the coupe and convertible range is intended to compete with the entire breadth of the German two-door catalogue, from 4 Series and M4, to C- and E-Class Coupes. Presumably it'll therefore be more than just a Giulia coupe. Regular, high-performance and plug-in hybrid versions are mentioned. Finally, as was part of the previously announced five-year plan, there will be SUVs introduced on either side of the Stelvio. Apparently, it was originally thought that the smaller of the two would be produced on the cheaper Renegade/500X platform, but that has been nixed in favor of the Giulia's "Giorgio" platform to maintain a higher degree of engineering sophistication. If so, good call. The bigger of the two new Alfa SUVs would also be on the platform, and since it's been rumored that the next Jeep Grand Cherokee will be as well, it'll be interesting to see how similar those two mid-size SUVs will potentially be. There are many more Alfa insights from CAR, but as it's restricted to print and not on their website, we can only urge you to swing by your local magazine rack and pick up the latest issue. They do good stuff.
