1986 ALFA ROMEO SPIDER VELOCE IN EXCELLENT COSMETIC AND MECHANICAL CONDITION WITH LOW MILEAGE AND AIR CONDITIONING!!!

I am the second owner of this vehicle.  I purchased this car from a dealership in New Hampshire who acquired it as a trade-in from the original owner.  The original owner was a long-time client of the dealership and he took excellent care of this fine Italian sports car. The car was always kept covered and in a climate controlled garage, and only used during warm weather season. It was never driven in snow or ice. The original owner kept records of maintenance and all of those records will accompany the car.  This Alfa only had 36,000 miles when I bought it about 1.5 years ago, and now only has 42,025 miles.  I drove it home from New Hampshire to Alabama when I bought it and had absolutely no problems.  The a/c works great and kept me cool the entire trip which was in August.  Since I got the car, I have kept it in a covered carport with a car cover on it and a tarp over the cover.  The car cover came with the car and will also go with the new owner.  It also has a separate cover that protects the top and goes underneath the car cover (see pictures.)  This car has the original leather seats (with new foam inserts), original paint, original carpet, and original floor mats, all in excellent condition.  The new convertible top was professionally installed and looks and functions great. All electronics and electrical systems work as they should, including the power side mirrors, power windows and interior and exterior lights.  The body is rust free.  The car has a tonneau cover which is in perfect condition.  There is a small scratch in the front bumper and a tiny, superficial chip in the windshield which is not noticeable when driving (see pictures.) It has a clear Alabama title, and I am the current owner with no liens.

The following repairs were made to the car within 1.5 years prior to my purchase of it:

-Head gasket replaced and valve job with timing adjustment
-Air conditioner coolant system replaced with 134-A coolant
-Bumpers refinished
-All four coil springs replaced with raicing-type springs (from International Auto Parts)
-Frame stiffener installed (from International Auto Parts)
-AC and alternator belts replaced
-Radiator hose kit replaced
-Rear straight exhaust pipe installed
-Windshield washer bottle and motor replaced
-Complete brake job
-Replaced worn tie rod end
-Repaired drivers side electric mirror
-Complete lube and oil service
-Replaced front and rear shocks
-Replaced both lower ball joints
-Replaced upper control arm
-Tire alignment
-Replaced engine mounts
-Installed nickel-plated exhaust header (from International Auto Parts)
-Replaced brake hoses to all 4 wheels
-Replaced pinion shaft oil seal
-Replaced transmission mount
-NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP INSTALLED
-Replaced foam in seat bottoms
-Serviced and adjusted electric windows
-New tires - Michelin Harmony (still like new)

The only service it has needed since I got it was a wheel balancing.  The car is due for an oil and filter change, but I will leave that for the new owner. I replaced all the air/vacuum hoses in the fuel injection control and evaporative emission control systems with silicone hoses using a kit supplied by Greg Gordon at Hi Performance Store (you can find information about why this is important on these 20+ year old cars by doing a google search for his website.) The car does not leak any oil.

I did have a new stereo professionally installed with new speakers that fit in the existing speaker grills.  The Kenwood stereo has HD radio, CD player, USB connection, and a remote.  The speakers are Memphis Audio.

I have truly enjoyed this car. It is fun to drive, handles great, runs perfectly, and turns heads everywhere I go. I am selling it because I just do not use it often and so I would rather have the money to put towards investing for my retirement.  Whoever gets this car is going to be very happy with it.  The only things I would have replaced if I was going to keep the car are the door seals, but purely for cosmetic reason, they work just fine the way they are.

Good luck and happy bidding.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is like a taller, more practical Giulia

Wed, Nov 16 2016

With the Giulia on its way to dealers in the coming months, Alfa Romeo's third current model for the US market is close behind. The 2018 Stelvio will give the company an offering in the ever-popular crossover SUV segment, and should bring Alfa's signature style and driving dynamics to the party. On paper, the Stelvio seems capable of delivering on classic Alfa fun. For starters it shares engines with the Giulia sedan, starting with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the standard Stelvio and Stelvio Ti models making 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. Alfa will offer a Quadrifoglio model as well, which has the same twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 as the Giulia Quadrifoglio that pumps out 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The company claims that the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will get to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, just a tenth behind the Giulia. View 11 Photos Regardless of trim level, every Stelvio sends power through an 8-speed automatic transmission connected to Alfa's Q4 all-wheel-drive system. A mechanical limited-slip rear differential is available, and the Quadrifoglio adds a torque-vectoring rear differential. The drivetrain propels an aluminum-intensive chassis. The doors, fenders, front and rear frame assemblies, and various suspension components are all made of the lightweight metal, contributing to a near 50/50 weight distribution front and rear. Suspension is independent all the way around, and the Quadrifoglio gets a sportier, adaptive version. Styling-wise, the Stelvio also lives up to the Giulia. In fact, it looks more or less like a tall Giulia wagon. The front fascia is roughly the same, just with a taller center grille and slightly more swept back lower sides. The slope of the nose is much less raked, too. The character lines along the flanks and even the rear bumper are all very similar to the Giulia Quadrifoglio. The one part that isn't as successful, though, is the tail end. It appears Alfa tried to give the Stelvio a gently sloping hatch, but the result is a bulbous backside with lot of sheet metal. Inside, the Stelvio again echoes its sedan sibling, though in this case the top of the dash peaks above the center screen and slopes down to the right vent. In the Giulia, the top of the dash drops down immediately from the gauge cluster, and only rises again at the right vent. Speaking of gauges, the Stelvio features a 7-inch screen nestled between the tach and speedometer, the latter reading up to 200 mph in the Quadrifoglio.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar revealed with gas and EV versions, gorgeous either way

Wed, Aug 30 2023

This gorgeous red supercar is the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. The name “33” has several references, the first being to the design, as this new 33 Stradale borrows from the famous Tipo 33. Secondly, Alfa is only producing 33 examples of this supercar, and all of them are already sold. The powertrain strategy for the 33 Stradale is perhaps the most interesting part of it, as buyers can choose between a twin-turbo V6 and a fully electric version. AlfaÂ’s gas-powered 33 Stradale produces 620 horsepower, is shifted via an eight-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox and puts its power down exclusively to the rear wheels via an electronic limited-slip differential. Its top speed is 206 mph, and the 0-62 mph time is “less than three seconds.” The engine itself is said to be a derivative of the Ferrari-developed V6 you find under the hood of the Alfa Quadrifoglio models. The battery-electric 33 Stradale produces “more than 750 horsepower” and goes 0-62 mph in under 2.5 seconds, but Alfa isnÂ’t saying much else about the powertrain. We presume it will be all-wheel drive due to multiple electric motors being necessary. Range is currently estimated at 280 miles on the optimistic WLTP test cycle. The platform is a combination aluminum H-frame and carbon fiber monocoque that shares plenty with the Maserati MC20, and the roof is engineered with the same materials, supporting the butterfly doors. A front-axle lift system comes standard, and you also get a drive mode selector to choose between Strada (road) and Pista (track). Launch control is activated via a “Quadrifoglio” button. Big Brembo carbon ceramic brakes do the stopping, with six-piston calipers in front and four-piston units in the rear. While there may be a lot underneath that is shared with the MC20, its design is pure Alfa Romeo. Its interior is just as impressive as the beautiful exterior, too. The controls in the center stack are all about physical engagement, as they feature the most beautiful design that just makes us want to turn, twist and toggle them. Above that rests a widescreen touch display powered by Uconnect5 in a similar layout as the MC20. The cluster features a “3D telescope display,” which Alfa claims is the first of its kind. Plus, the steering wheel purposefully doesnÂ’t have a single button on it for maximum driving enjoyment.

Argentinians find stash of never-registered, brand-new 30-year-old Italian cars

Fri, Apr 3 2020

While much of the world is sheltering in place, several new, never-registered Italian and French cars exited a 27-year confinement in Argentina. They were left for dead in an abandoned dealership that sold Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Peugeot models in a city named Avellaneda near Buenos Aires, the country's capital. Details surrounding the dealership are murky. Argentina's Autoblog (no relation to us) reported it closed at some point during the 1990s after the owner and his son died in violent circumstances. Automotive archaeology tells your author it likely shut its doors in 1993, because that's the only year in which the first-generation Fiat Ducato launched in 1981 and the post-facelift Fiat Tipo, axed in 1995, overlapped. Both are clearly visible in the photos. What's certain is that someone finally inherited the property in 2020 and wanted the cars gone as quickly as possible in order to sell it. The anonymous owner asked Kaskote Calcos, a local body shop that also runs a used-car lot, to haul them away via Instagram. We're guessing the firm didn't need to be asked twice.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Axel By Kaskote (@kaskotecalcos) on Mar 24, 2020 at 1:57pm PDT Many of the cars hidden in the dealership were made by Fiat; the photos show several examples of the Tipo, an Uno, a Tempra, and the aforementioned Ducato. An Alfa Romeo 33 wagon and a Peugeot 405 were also stashed in the trove. Most were stored indoors so they weren't damaged by sunlight or humidity, and images of the cars taken after they were pressure-washed confirm they're in like-new condition inside and out. We're told some even started, though for the love of valves and pistons we hope they got a new timing belt before being fired up.  Kaskote Calcos hasn't revealed what it will do with the cars. None are particularly sought-after, they're economy cars that were mass-produced and mass-destroyed, and their current values reflect that. You can get a post-facelift Uno for the price of a few Peroni pints in Italy. The fact that they're new, never-registered examples will undoubtedly increase their appeal, even if registering them could require slashing through jungles of red tape. As a side note, finding a 405 beached in a Fiat dealership isn't as random as it might sound.
