1974 GTV The car has been my wife's car for over 20 years. The car drives better than new. It idles perfect in traffic and is very fast with no fussiness. Perfect shifting transmission. The car receives a lot of attention in public - we're constantly answering questions about it in parking lots! Thousands of hours have been spent over the years to make this a very special car for my wife. Recently however (over the past year), the car has been sitting in the garage as my wife prefers to drive our Land Rover - it sits higher and she is able to see better. So the decision has been made to part with it. Complete body stripped to bare metal 8 years ago - all rust repaired and painted. All undercoating is original - look at the pictures of the wheel wells and you'll see original paint and undercoating. Always a California car. Complete front suspension rebuilt 12 years ago - sport front springs, sport sway bar and Koni Shocks. The engine is a 1750 Milano EVO factory turbocharged engine that I imported from England. It was rebuilt 7 years ago with forged CP pistons, with 7.5 compression, ceramic coating on the head, valves and pistons, complete balance and blueprinting, programmable fuel injection and crankfire ignition, wideband 02 sensor system , custom brass radiator and silicone hoses. Transmission completely rebuilt 4 years ago - syncros, bearings, seals. Custom Kevlar clutch replaced 4 years ago and all new clutch hydraulics. Driveshaft rebuilt and balanced 4 years ago. All rear suspension bushings replaced 12 years ago. Complete brake system rebuilt 6 years ago - calipers rebuilt and cad plated , steel braided brake hoses installed, new rotors, Porterfield R4S pads, complete new high pressure hydraulic brake booster system installed (similar to what is used on the 993 Porsche), giving it an unbelievable brake feel. Best stopping GTV ever. The car has been completely rewired with an ISIS canbuss system - just like a new BMW no high current goes thru the switches just a ground signal so headlights, fan switches, etc. never get overloaded and wear out. And, the system saved 30 lbs in wire weight. Also, it is self diagnosing and the outputs can be programed for just about any action. Another feature is that the battery will shut down automatically prior to it getting too low to start the car. Check it out at ISIS INTELLEGENT MULTIPLEX SYSTEM on the internet. High output alternator. Maserati air horns. AC /heater system completely rebuilt/upgraded 4 years ago - new heater core, new hi efficiency condenser with 2 electric fans and new Sandon compressor with all new/custom mounts, pulleys, hoses, dryer, converted to 134 Freon. New custom stainless exhaust system. New legal HID headlight system made by Sylvania (no China parts), Osram ballast and High / Low beam. New windshield and front / rear rubber. Power door locks. Ferrari 348 leather seats in near perfect condition. Ferrari steering wheel. Leather covered dash and console with carbon fiber inserts. All gauges, switches, warning lights and controls are in working condition with the exception of the heated rear window defroster (the wiring in the rear window is bad). Stereo is a Kenwood with iPod connection. 2 door speakers, 2 tweeters in the dash vents and 2 parcel shelf speakers. Bluetooth connects your cellular phone to the stereo system. Auto-electric antenna. Power port for charging your phone. New carpet and headliner. In lieu of the rear seat there is a custom carpeted covered compartment that houses the battery. The carpet covered compartment is a great place for the dog or stuff you don't want in the trunk. New coated fuel tank, high volume fuel pump, gas gauge sender unit. Trunk and engine bay paint is as nice as the outside of the car. We drove the car to Las Vegas last spring and got 29 MPG at an average speed of 80+ MPH! Buyer to arrange pick-up and delivery. Please call Greg at 714-399-5647 with any questions.

Alfa Romeo's limited Quadrifoglio Carbon Editions start at $86,470 this fall

Fri, Oct 6 2023

Alfa Romeo, which is generally fairly conservative about offering upscale “special” editions of its mainstream cars, is giving its customers in North America an exclusive opportunity to order a limited-edition 2024 Giulia or Stelvio Quadrifoglio Carbon Edition. Limited to 130 units combined (!), the Carbon models are essentially a bit of decoration: on the exterior, thereÂ’s a carbon fiber V scudetto grille, mirror caps, gold calipers and black badging. Interior enhancements include sporty interior design touches, such as exclusive red leather sport seats and carbon fiber interior trim. Paint color options are Vulcano Black, Alfa Red or Rosso Etna. Engine specs are borrowed from the recently updated standard models, featuring a turbocharged 2.9-liter six-cylinder engine with 505 horsepower, routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard adaptive suspension. This suspension technology is designed to read the road and quickly adjust shock valving to deliver greater handling characteristics at speed while maintaining a comfortable ride. The models will begin arriving in Alfa Romeo dealerships this quarter with a manufacturerÂ’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $86,470 for Giulia sedan and $93,870 for Stelvio SUV, including a destination fee of $1,595. “WeÂ’re excited to offer our North American consumers further customization with the new Alfa Romeo Carbon Edition, which enhances our sporty-Italian style with a unique and head-turning appearance on top of an unrivaled driving experience,” said Larry Dominique, head of Alfa Romeo, North America. “This limited edition elevates the passion of Alfa Romeo with a beautifully crafted design combined with the unsurpassed performance from our legendary Quadrifoglio models.” Related video: 2020 Alfa Romeo #Giulia Quadrifoglio vs. 2013 Dodge #Challenger SRT8 392 #exhaust comparison

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia still makes us swoon

Wed, Sep 16 2015

It may have debuted in June, but Alfa Romeo's hot new Giulia makes its first public appearance at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this week. And even though we've told you all there is to know right now, we just can't resist bringing you another set of photos, and another round of praise. Alfa is once again showing the Giulia in top-of-the-line Quadrifoglio spec, complete with a twin-turbocharged V6 that's said to make around 510 horsepower. We already know it sounds awesome, and all we can say is, watch out BMW M3. Alfa Romeo is quoting a 0-62 time of less than four seconds, and we're told the car will have the quickest steering in its class. Sounds good to us. The Giulia will officially launch in early 2016, and while the top-trim Quadrifoglio will probably start around $70,000 or $75,000, less-aggressive, more mainstream models will also be available. There's talk of four-cylinder power with both gasoline and diesel motivation, but it's unclear exactly what's in sore for the US-spec car. Still, it's exciting to see the new Giulia, and we're eager to drive Alfa's latest when it goes on sale next year.
Your browser does not support iframes.
Related Video:

Alfa Romeo SZ, the brutalist 'Il Mostro,' restored by FCA Heritage

Sun, Apr 3 2022

Nicknamed Il Mostro — "the Monster" in Italian — because of its unusual, almost brutalist design, the 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ was meant to showcase all the technological prowess of the Milanese firm at the time. It was also meant to plant a stake in the ground and return the revered marque to its rear-wheel-drive roots. Though it was an evolutionary dead end, the SZ is still considered among the most distinctive cars in a brand filled with distinctive models. It should, then, be no surprise that FCA Heritage, the classic car and history preservation arm of Stellantis (which, apparently, was not part of the name change) has just restored one. The SZ began life at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show as the ES-30 concept, which stood for Experimental Sports 3.0-liter. The production car was named SZ for Sprint Zagato, but the design is credited to Robert Opron of the Fiat Style Center, while Antonio Castellana did the finishing details and interior. Zagato used its coachbuilding expertise to build the cars, whose bodywork was formed from a composite thermoplastic material called Modar, made by Italy's Carplast and France's Stratime. Alfa Romeo also claims it was the first car to be produced using computer-aided design (CAD/CAM). Beneath the sci-fi exterior lay a 12-valve, 3.0-liter V6 plucked from the Alfa Romeo 75 3.0i Quadrifoglio Verde. With 204 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, it was the most powerful Alfa of the time. Output was fed through a 5-speed transaxle and the suspension, Koni-designed shocks, and brakes reportedly tuned by Fiat and Lancia rally driver Giorgio Pianta and transplanted from the Alfa 75 1.8 Turbo Evolution Group A racer. The original run was intended to span just 1,000 cars, but some sources say 1,036 were produced. That run ended in 1991, after which a roadster version called the RZ was built from 1992-93. The example restored has been in Alfa Romeo's possession since the beginning. It served as a test car on the Balocco proving grounds and was used in promotional photos. There are several details on it that differ from production models, so much so that Alfa Romeo says it could be "considered a prototype." Unfortunately, as history shows, the SZ failed to usher in a real-wheel-drive renaissance at Alfa Romeo. After its end, there wasn't another rear-drive model until the 8C Competizione in 2007.
