Once upon a time, the idea of a luxury SUV meant a Range Rover, and even that was pretty agricultural by modern standards. Then Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ford Explorers started offering fancy, range-topping versions followed soon by Lexus, BMW and Mercedes dipping their toes in the water. And then the floodgates opened. Today, there is a staggering number of luxury SUVs available in every shape, size and price point. There are electric luxury SUVs like the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace, as well as gas-swilling, high-performance SUVs like the BMW X5 M and Cadillac Escalade V. Sports car makers Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini have even dived in.  But of this great many, which are the best luxury SUVs? We sat down, scoured our reviews, took some votes, had some discussions and came up with the luxury SUVs we view as the best. You'd be much better off paying less money for a loaded, non-luxury compact SUV. The Mercedes GLB is different, though. Its boxy design provides space few other subcompact SUV can match (luxury or otherwise), while its cabin design and feature content are in keeping with pricier Mercedes models. The quality's not exactly up to GLC standards, nor is driving refinement, but the difference is appropriate for how much you're saving and still perfectly acceptable. Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition gets the NSX's Gotham Gray Matte paint

Acura made three NSX-sourced colors available on the TLX Type S PMC Edition in 2022. Giving the sedan distinctive supercar flair must have struck a chord with enthusiasts, because the Honda-owned company added a fourth color called Gotham Gray Matte to the palette. If the name sounds familiar, it's likely because Gotham Gray Matte was also available on 50 units of the NSX Type S. The flat-gray paint is complemented by Berlina Black paint on the door handles, the side skirts, and the 20-inch wheels, a carbon fiber spoiler on the trunk lid, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Black exterior emblems add a touch of contrast to the design. But Acura painted the roof in the same color as the body, whereas the first batch of TLX Type S PMC Edition models announced in 2022 featured a Berlina Black-painted roof panel. Inside, the TLX Type S PMC Edition gains Milano Red leather upholstery, Ultrasuede inserts, black contrast stitching, carbon fiber trim, Type S-branded floor mats, and illuminated sill plates. The center console also features a metal plate that displays the car's serial number. Acura will build 50 units of the TLX Type S PMC Edition painted in Gotham Gray Matte. The sedan will enter production in April 2023, and it will be built by hand in the Performance Manufacturing Center that the company operates in Ohio; it's the same facility that built the now-retired NSX. Pricing starts at $66,995 including a $1,995 destination charge. In comparison, the standard TLX Type S costs $56,745.

Acura TLX GT racecar to make motorsports debut at Detroit Grand Prix

Acura debuted its TLX GT racecar at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, and it looks like the racer is set to get its first competitive outing in Motown as well. The RealTime Racing team is competing with a single car driven by Peter Cunningham for the Pirelli World Challenge rounds during the Detroit Grand Prix from May 30 through June 1.
Honda Performance Development is developing the TLX GT with a direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, based on the production, naturally aspirated version, and all-wheel drive helps maintain traction. A second car is being added to the effort later.
The turbocharged Acura sedan will face competition in the series from vehicles like the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Dodge Viper, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 and more. With the Detroit Grand Prix hosting the sixth and seventh races in the Pirelli World Challenge GT class schedule, it doesn't seem that Acura is expecting to win the series in its debut season, but it will surely gain valuable experience.
