Acura RLX pricing and launch plan detailed
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Acura has released pricing for its upcoming flagship, the RLX, at the Detroit Auto Show this week. Powered by an all-new direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 rated at 310 horsepower, the front-wheel-drive sedan replaces the outgoing RL model (2011's worst-selling car of the year) as the automaker's new flagship.
In addition to boasting the most spacious passenger cabin in its mid-luxury class, the new range-topping Acura features the automaker's first-ever application of Precision All-Wheel Steer and Jewel Eye LED headlamps. Standard equipment includes Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning, with Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, and Blind Spot Information (BSI) system trim and option specific.
The four-door will initially be sold in five grades (prices exclude a destination charge of $895):
Jay Leno finally gets his hands on the 2017 Acura NSX
Tue, Mar 1 2016It has been five years since Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld starred in a commercial about which one of them would get the first example of the new Acura NSX. After a long wait, they finally get a chance, but Leno is the first to check out the coupe in the latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. The denim-clad host spends over 30 minutes with lead designer Michelle Christensen and Ted Klaus, global development chief engineer, to get the full scoop on the hybrid supercar. Leno and Christensen get into the nitty-gritty about the design process for the latest NSX, and she points out her favorite parts of the finished product. She had quite a challenge creating the new supercar. Over the model's long gestation, every adjustment to the shape forced changes elsewhere to direct the airflow correctly, and then the decision to switch to a different engine configuration added even more time. Klaus focuses on the engineering side, like using the Ferrari 458 and original NSX as the major benchmarks for the new one. He also takes a ride with Leno, and the comedian even cracks a grin driving it. Leno doesn't usually show much emotion behind the wheel, so the little smirk is high praise from him. Acura launches NSX colorizer on Facebook
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Automakers typically wait until their new car is actually released to roll out an online configurator interface, but Acura isn't waiting around. Instead it has launched a configurator for the upcoming NSX that's still in the concept phase.
Well, sorta. The online tool launched on Facebook in question isn't a full configurator in that it doesn't let you swap the wheels, install any options or even look into the cabin, let alone customize it. What it does let you do is view the NSX concept from one of three angles and select a color from either an array of presets or from anywhere in the RGB spectrum. We settled on the deep metallic green hue above - what color would you choose?
