** 5% of price will go to JDRF research, or the research to perfect the artificial pancreas / bionic pancreas insulin pump ** (I know JDRF is here, looking for the artificial pancreas) Leather in the backseat shows NO wear, the front have custom covers, specifically made for this make and model. I LOVE this car, third one I've had and I hate to part with it. I am waiting on a kidney transplant and will be off work for probably 3 months, so I need the money. Please ask questions before bidding. Non paying bidders will be reported to ebay. PLEASE do not bid prior to contacting me if you have lower than 10 feedback or lower than 98%. Prefer CASH at pick up. It will be COMPLETELY up to seller to make arrangements, I will not take the vehicle more than five miles from 60462. When I purchased vehicles thru ebay, I flew and drove home. Dual heated seats, cruise control, climate control (set temperature), wind blocker for moon roof. Back tires are about 3 yr old, less than 4000 miles, front have 50-70% left. Yes, timing belt replaced at 81K in October 2004, at that time also water pump and C belt, I think means A/C. Oil changed every spring when I take out and every fall before I put away for winter. About every 1000-2000 miles. I am the second owner of this beauty. There is not one spec of rust on it. If you love these cars like I do, you know they are know to rust at wheel wells and trunk, but this beautiful car has NONE. I only drive in the summer on sunny days, not to go shopping or park anywhere risky. In the winter I start about every 3 days. In summer I drive it 1-2 x a week. Has not seen snow or rain since mid 2009; not sure if first owner drove year round. I have all the original service records from the original owner. ***If you are purchasing for your sole use, I'd like to keep your info and possibly buy the car back in 1-2 years.*** |

Honda production knocked offline by ransomware cyberattack
Tue, Jun 9 2020Honda has suspended automobile and motorcycle production at several facilities around the globe due to a suspected ransomware cyberattack. According to reports in Japan, domestic production is back online and shipments are flowing out of its Japanese plants. Facilities in Ohio, where popular models like the Accord and CR-V are produced along with the Acura ILX, TSX and NSX, as well as those in Turkey, India and Brazil are reportedly still offline. "On Sunday, June 7, Honda experienced a disruption in its computer network that has caused a loss of connectivity, thus impacting our business operations," Honda said in a statement. "Our information technology team is working quickly to assess the situation." The suspected attack affected Honda’s production globally starting on Monday, forcing some plants to stop operations as the company needed to ensure that its quality control systems were not compromised. In addition, the automaker confirmed via Twitter that its Customer Service and Financial Services are currently unavailable. At this time Honda Customer Service and Honda Financial Services are experiencing technical difficulties and are unavailable. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding. — Honda Automobile Customer Service (@HondaCustSvc) June 8, 2020 The Telegraph (subscription required) in the UK reports that Honda's servers were infected with the EKANS (that's snake spelled backwards) malware, which encrypts data until payment is made to the attackers, who then provide the decryption key. J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998
Wed, 12 Feb 2014For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
Cody Loveland's Corvette-powered NSX claimed by Pikes Peak
Tue, 25 Jun 2013Let there be no doubt - racing automobiles can be very dangerous. This unfortunate fact of life has been proven once again today by Cody Loveland, owner of LoveFab, who crashed his Corvette-powered tube-frame Acura NSX on the second turn of the Pikes Peak hill climb course, apparently after a rear upper control arm failed. Cody hit a wall of boulders at high speed, after which the racecar caught fire.
Cody was able to escape the blaze unhurt - minus some missing hair that was singed off in the fire - but the car appears to be a complete mess, as you can see from the image above. The LoveFab Motorsports team has vowed to do its very best to rebuilt the car in time for the competition, but we'd be awfully surprised (and impressed) if that burnt-up hulk were ready for racing with just a few days to rebuild.
We're happy to hear that Cody got away safely, and here's hoping the rest of the competitors get up the hill without incident, or, like Cody, are at least able to walk away uninjured if they don't.
