Clean Volvo 242 on 2040-cars

Up for sale is my 242. Ive owned this car for about 4 years and I'm about ready to move on to another car. Over the 4 years, I've done a ton of maintenance and service, as well as a few upgrades. These include: timing belt and v belts with all new oem seals, new water pump, alternator and voltage regulator, completly rebuilt wiring harness, clutch, practically every fuel injection component has been replaced, all tune up parts, everything. The motor runs great and the transmission shifts smooth. The car handles very well, and the suspension has been upgraded with coil overs, poly bushings, ipd adjustable torque rods and panard rod, and the little stuff like ball joints and tie rod ends have been replaced. For wheels, it has Eiker e1's in 17x7.5 in good shape with no curbing with brand new tires in 215/45/17 with warrantees. The interior is in very good shape as well, its blue cloth and vinyl trim and its all intact. The stereo is in the lower position by the shifter, and it has vdo vision gauges in the upper spot by the gauge cluster. Everything works as it should and the car drives well. I get compliments on it all the time and it's even won a couple awards. 242's are getting hard to find in this good of shape. Future Polestar Volvo models could feature diesel, EV tech
Tue, 20 May 2014Volvo's Polestar sub-brand has made the transition nicely from being the company's racing arm to building some seriously cool, Swedish cars. Now that it has a few models under its belt, it plans to grow larger and greener. The next-generation of Polestar-tuned vehicles are rumored to include high-performance hybrid and diesel powertrains.
While it still doesn't have the brand recognition of BMW M or Mercedes-Benz AMG, Polestar is on the growth path. It's representatives recently told Autoblog that its latest, tuned S60 and V60 models "mark the start of an extended production car model range." In addition to that expansion, Volvo has given its performance division a greater responsibility for engineering future vehicles, according to Autocar. It even helped develop the new Drive-E engine, which we quite liked when we took it for a spin in an S60.
Polestar's boss hinted at a hybrid model to Autocar, a move that seems obvious once you think about it. The Drive-E engine was designed from the beginning to accept hybrid layouts. The division's plan is to put and electric motor on the rear axle to both increase torque off the line and provide all-wheel drive. As Drive-E also offers diesel variants, that is in the cards as well for the future, but the company didn't go into much detail. Polestar appears to be the upcoming shooting star of the performance car world.
Volvo promises new direct-injected diesels, 8-speed auto
Tue, 09 Apr 2013As a part of eliminating its dependence on Ford platforms and powertrains, Volvo has previously announced information about its Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA) and Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), but now we're finally getting some details about what will power some of the Swedish automaker's next-generation products.
The biggest key to VEA on the diesel engines is a new technology Volvo calls i-ART. This system uses unique injectors at each cylinder capable of monitoring fuel pressure and adjusting accordingly to maximize fuel economy and performance and reduce emissions. Looking ahead, Volvo says its four-cylinder engines will be able to offer the power of a six-cylinder and eventually, mixed with some sort of electrification, will be able to rival the performance of a V8 and "turn V8s into dinosaurs."

Volvo still undecided on offering plug-in hybrid versions of all models
Thu, 03 Jul 2014The automotive world is only a few months away from getting its first real glimpse at Volvo's big gamble with the unveiling of the next-generation XC90 (pictured above as the Concept XC Coupe). We're already getting a preview of the revolutionary upgrades with the introduction of the Swede's Volvo Engine Architecture family into some of its 2015 models, like the recently driven S60. These changes are just the start, though. The real magic could be in the powertrains.
Dean Shaw, Volvo Cars North America vice president of corporate communications hinted to Autoblog a few months ago that every model sold in the US could come in a plug-in hybrid variant, starting with the new XC90. Despite confirmation rumors that this has now come to pass, Shaw told AutoblogGreen that the only thing Volvo is confirming right now is that the platform is capable of that. "We haven't confirmed that all US Volvos would be available with PHEV," he said.
Shaw did confirm that that XC90 will come with a gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers "around 400 horsepower." According to Plugin Cars, the new XC90 will be unveiled in August and will make its public debut at an as-yet-unnamed auto show in the fall. Also, sometime during the 2016 model year, a plug-in hybrid variant will be added to its lineup.
