NO RESERVE
Selling a 1-owner IMMACULATE, low mileage Volvo 240 4 door. I have owned 10 Volvo 240s of all years, and this one is the cleanest and best condition I've come across. This car is a gem, and comes loaded with many dealer features. Here are the features and details of this safe brick of a car:

Garage kept, see pictures to notice the cleanliness of the interior, dashboard and carpets. Owned and loved by a responsible adult Volvo enthusiast, purchased and driven in New Mexico its whole life. Time to sell and drive the S80 instead ;-) Serviced at IVS (formerly Independent Volvo). Could try to get records of work done there over the years on request.

102,026 miles, manual transmission, 4 cylinder, religiously maintained, loaded, strong engine (if you don't know the history and reliability of the Redblock engine, they easily go for several hundreds of thousands of miles. Look it up). I have a copy of the original title from 1984.

Power locks, all light bulbs work, radio (comes with a spare in the trunk), awesome heater, defroster, wipers, oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge, ambient air temperature gauge, clock, voltage gauge. Clutch is great, tires are Michelin and great, but show some aging, shocks are great, brakes are amazing (Go Volvo!) comes with spare full size tire and tool kit and jack, NO RUST, no body damage, new wiring harness (old harnesses (pre 1988) were made with biodegradable insulation which withered within 2 decades, see pictures) runs great! Seats are in great shape, a little faded but no rips or tears in stitching, all of the rubber on the car is pliable and not sun-dried, which is also amazing. The doors open and close like a brand new car (again, I have owned many 240s and can compare), battery is good and recently changed.

The bad:
Air conditioning could use a charge, the good news is that it has a special UV dye installed in the system to detect leaks
Overdrive button not working (common and easy fix. Look it up)

Must see to appreciate. Very great, smooth, reliable and SAFE car.

Clean title.

Ford, Volvo top 2014 EyesOn Design awards

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

Each year at the Detroit Auto Show, the top vehicle designs are recognized with the prestigious EyesOn Design award for production and concept vehicles. This year, the 32 EyesOn Design judges (comprised of current and former vehicle designers including Chrysler designer and SRT president Ralph Gilles, Kia designer Peter Schreyer and retired General Motors designer Wayne Cherry) handed out three awards for the Best Concept Vehicle, Best Production Vehicle and Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, and Materials.
Beating out the Mercedes C-Class and Ford F-150, the 2015 Ford Mustang was named the Best Production Vehicle as the top auto show debut at this year's Detroit show. The 2014 Volvo Concept XC Coupe took home awards as the Best Concept Vehicle and for its Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials.
Considering the Volvo's primer grey hue and subtle orange accents, it was a rather surprising winner for Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, and Materials over flashier concepts like the Toyota FT-1 and our Editors' Choice top pick, the Kia GT4 Stinger. Other vehicles in the running for the concept car award include the GT4 Stinger and Audi Allroad Shooting Brake

Volvo details new drive assist features for next XC90 and future models [w/video]

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Volvo wants us to know what kinds of new technology will be under the sheetmetal of the offerings that will sit on its Scalable Platform Architecture, the first of which will be included on the 2015 Volvo XC90 arriving at the end of next year. The silicon-chip onslaught starts with detection and auto braking for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The company's animal detection tech now works at night thanks to better cameras and exposure controls.
Also due for the high-riding wagon are road edge and barrier detection with steer assist, a setup that identifies the edge of the road - even ones without markings. The system can steer the car back into its lane if it detects the driver is about to leave the road or collide with a barrier. Adaptive cruise control with steer assist allows the car to not only follow the flow of traffic on a straight road, but steer itself automatically.
Beyond that, the company is planning on other safety advances, but these will rely on automaker cooperation and infrastructure upgrades. Volvo has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium on the subject of standards for communication between cars and wants to have it implemented by 2016. Sensors in traffic lights will enable Green Light Optimum Speed Advisory, which tells a driver how fast to go on a give stretch of road so as not to hit a red light. Weather, road condition, road works and emergency vehicle warnings will also inform drivers of new developments on the road. And autonomous parking, which Volvo has already demonstrated, stands to put a lot of valets out of work since it allows the car to find its own parking space without a driver inside.

Volvo launches next-gen Sensus Connect infotainment system [w/videos]

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

To borrow a line from another automaker, the Volvo S60 has the power to surprise - it's likely not top of mind for most entry-level luxury sedan buyers, but it's good enough that it probably should be. There's long been one pretty serious chink in its armor, though, and that goes for the company's entire model line: infotainment. The Swedish marque's offerings just haven't been that feature-rich, but Volvo is working to improve things with its updated Sensus Connect, a suite of functions just launched at this week's CES in Las Vegas.
The new system updates center on cloud-based connectivity advancements that include a novel Park&Pay feature that allows drivers to search for parking and pay for their space from the comfort of their car. Other functions that show off the diversity of Sensus Connect include embedded, Pandora-streaming internet radio, Wikipedia, remote start via smart phone, dealer appointment booking, destination attraction searches and an available wifi hotspot.
All of this increased functionality sounds like a big step in the right direction, and Volvo is noting it has refreshed the system's interface with "graphically themed center and driver displays" along with improved voice control and text-to-speech capabilities.
