1983 Volvo 240 5 Speed, 2 Owner, 4 Door, 92,000 Miles, A/c, Clean Interior/ext on 2040-cars
Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States
Meet "Bandit"; he is a RUST-FREE 2 owner (to the best of my knowledge) Volvo 240 from 1983. First you will notice he has been repainted a rich red in July 2013. Body is a 9/10 and interior also a 9/10. Odometer is in working condition, with 92,688 ORIGINAL MILES. "Bandit" was a commuter from the 80s-2009 from Taos, NM to Laguna, NM, a 176 mile drive, 3 hours each way. After the owner retired, he sat outside until I noticed him. Only parked for 4 years, I drained the gas tank, replaced fuel filter and the fickle Chrysler distributor/cap/rotor for a Bosch one. With new Michelin tires, Bandit runs like a champion. I just filled up the gas tank and was very pleased to see that everything works, including the Overdrive! Then he was painted and ready for a new home! Features: Power locks Power Steering Working A/C!! Heater 4 speed w/ electronic overdrive 4 Michelin tires with excellent tread Complete trim, inside & out locking gas cap Old Sony radio turns on and all speakers work, but play static only. I suspect the old radio had an internal fault, and would need replacing. Bad: Cracked windshield, see condition description. ASK ME FOR SHIPPING QUOTE, about $0.90/mile depending on location, if you cannot find a better quote. !!!VIDEO COMING SOON!!! |

Volvo uncovers widespread cheating by its Chinese dealers
Tue, 26 Mar 2013According to a report in Reuters, the findings of an internal investigation conducted by Geely-owned Volvo is that its Chinese dealers vastly overreported their sales numbers in 2011, then even more vastly underreported their 2012 sales figures. About "half the dealers" out of the 151 total outlets gamed the system in order to get incentives for reaching volume objectives, falsely recording about 7,000 more units sold than was actually the case. Instead of 47,140 cars sold in China in 2011, the real number should have been 39,871.
Volvo corporate books a sale once it ships a car to a dealer, so that meant there were 7,000 more cars in inventory than there should have been. To restore the balance, the dealers underreported their 2012 sales while they unloaded those extra cars since, naturally, they couldn't claim the sale again. That made it look like sales declined by 11 percent in 2012, even though they actually increased year-on-year. The adjusted sales number for 2012 totalled 45,896.
Volvo has met with its dealers and told them to stop the deceitful practice. The discrepancies weren't so great that the company plans to restate its historic numbers, but from now on, it apparently plans to occasionally check inventory to make sure the numbers match and that it has a true picture of how individual models are selling.
Watch this video, then buy this 1993 Volvo wagon
Mon, 12 May 2014Do you want to be perceived as rich and cuddly? Of course you do. Then you need to buy this car.
We know it makes no sense, but that pretty much sums up our take on the video you'll see below, in which a man by the name of Christoffer Castor, from Scania County in Southern Sweden, attempts to convince any and all who watch to buy his car. The car in question is a 1993 Volvo 240 wagon, in red with a black fabric interior.
We have quite a bit of respect for the old boxy Volvo wagons here at Autoblog, and, despite the presence of some unsightly rust on the tailgate, would gladly bum about in this particular 240. We especially appreciate the five-speed manual gearbox and that it's from the car's final year in production.
2015 Volvo XC90
Wed, 27 Aug 2014
The new XC90 isn't just about the new XC90 - it's as much about the new generation of Volvos that will result.
Around the turn of the millennium, Volvo seemed like the perfect automaker to make a crossover. It had, after all, already established for itself a reputation for building all-wheel-drive wagons for transporting families in safety and comfort. But while its competitors marched one by one into the luxury utility market, Volvo held out. That was, anyway, until the debut of the original XC90 in 2002. And it's never looked back since.
