Reviews:

These folks are the only honest mechanics I have dealth with in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. I recoomend them highly and without reservation. They have charged me consistently less for the same work/parts than mechanics in Maryland and Northern Virginia. They do quality work, they will do it while you wait (if you make an appointment), and they do not recommend unnecessary maintenance just to pad the bil... view morel (as others have done to me). Ameritech will also work with you if you need a lot of work and prioritize it for you. They are reasonable and HONEST!

Unhappy Customer
I brought my car (early morning 11-17-08) in to get my headlights fixed and they called me back to tell me that I would need to first do a Diagnostic Test which would cost $69. Then once they found out what the problem was they will call me back. They call me mid afternoon (after I made several attempts to call them but the mechanic was out to lunch. Then they told me that they have the lights working but the mechani... view morec needs to test drive the car to see if the lights go out if the car hits any bumps on the road. Then they call me back after their (supposed test drive) and inform me that I need 4 Headlight bulbs (79.08),4 feet of wire ($4.00), 1/2 labor($34.50), shop supplies/Hazmat fee 3% ($5.59) and that Diagnostic Time charge ($69.00). I tell them to do the job.I get a call from them at 4PM and they tell me the car is ready. The total bill with tax $203.70. I ask them will this solve the problem. Of course you get that answer. Yes! Less than 3 weeks later the lights are out again. The car is brought back in and now think it might be the alternator but they are not sure. Then they said my best bet would be to bring it back to the dealership.Of course, I`m not happy with this and share my harsh feelings to their salesperson. The salesperson at this point, doesn`t want to speak with me because I`m an unhappy customer and I was too loud on the phone with him so, he takes my number and tells me at 10:30am in the morning someone will call me back. Of course, I get no phone call back. I had to call back myself way towards day`s end to only wind up speaking with the OWNER himself. The owner tells me, since I talked to his salesperson the way I did, he won`t do anymore business with me. On top of it, I allowed him to fix my other car on 12-8-08 before the lights went back out on the other car. All I wanted was a tune-up and oil change. Of course, I get a phone call from them telling me, I also need a Fuel Induction service($136.20). This was the breakdown for this service. Three hours of Labor to perform tune up& install valve cover gasket ($207.00), Fuel Induction Service ($136.20), Lube Oil Filter ($28.95), Shop Supplies/Hzmat Fee 3% ($15.00), 4 Spark Plugs ($13.44), Spark Plug Wires ($69.46), 1 Air Filter ($26.61) and Valve cover gasket ($43.70). Total amount of bill $572.78. I pick up the car the same day and the next day the car is driven the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT goes on. I bring the car back and they get the service engine light to go off. The next day the service engine light goes back on again.I have to take more time off to go and bring the car back in. Some more excuses about why the service engine light keep going on and they decided to lower the idle on the car. The next day, I take the car for a short drive and the car shuts down on me when I come to a full stop. I bring the car back a third time and they supposely raised the idle back up some. Just today at 4:30PM (12-19-2008) the car engine light goes back on again. I try to call but of course nobody pick up the phone. So, between the lights on one car and the tune up on another car there has been nothing but problems. Can you imagine the owner doesn`t want me to bring my car`s back to be fixed because he didn`t like the way, I talked to his salesman? He had no problem with me when he took my money. He had no problems with me when it came to figuring out how to fix my cars, but now he`s pissed at me because I hurt his salesperson feelings. I guess I shouldn`t be upset with Ameritech Tire and Auto,(can`t find them on the BBB) because it`s my fault that my lights went back out and the engine light is still on in my other car. I guess I should just be a happy go lucky person now that, I paid over $700 for 2 cars (light`s and a tune up) only to have no lights and an engine light that keeps coming back on. Sure, now the owner doesn`t want my business anymore. All I can say, is proceed carefully with AMERITECH TIRE & AUTO.
