Don`t try to call for an appointment
I have a busy schedule and had Muffler Man work on several of my trucks. My wife needed her car brakes changed on Sat. and I was set to leave out of town on Monday. I called to get a good time to take her car in. The man gave me a time but would not hold the appointment by saying first come first serve. Wow why did I call in the first place. I took it to another shop that was willing to make an appointment. I hope th... view moreey get it straight before they will be forced to close from lack of business.

Avoid at all cost
Chesaning location examined my vehicle and told me I needed new strutts and shocks. I ordered left and right, front and back strutts/shocks from Auto Zone (a local part supplier). I took the brand new packaged parts and my car into the Muffler man and what I thought was a certified mechanic. After picking my car up and spending over $600.00, my car sounded and felt worse than it did when I took it in for repairs. I t... view moreook the car back and explained the problem. I was told by the manager Matt that 2 left strutts were installed by his mechanic Dave. How can a certified mechanic not know his car parts?! We reordered the part, the strutt was switched out and we were charged again for the labor!!!! I pointed out to Dave that it was the mechanic`s fault that he didn`t know that he installed the wrong part. Dave said, ""talk to Matt since he put the wrong strutt on"". ""Funny"" I said since Matt stated that you (Dave) installed the strutts. Dave simply stated ""you`ll have to talk to Matt, but he`s on vacation"".
Since Matt`s return, we have spoken to him. He says that because the strutts were ordered somewhere else, NOTHING is guaranteed. Not even the mechanics competency.
I`ve spoken to other mechanics since, and everyone of them say, if the ""mechanic"", and I use that term loosely, had just test driven the car upon completion of the replaced strutts, they would have immediately known what the problem was. Instead, they (the Muffler Man employees) let us take the car and drive away with it. We have a grandchild that rides in that car with us. Would you trust your loved one`s safety to this place after having such an experience? Just beware - they apparently don`t care, but we do. DO YOUR HOMEWORK, and stay away from the Chesaning Muffler Man.

Helpless
I just spent over $600 to have new Shocks & Strutts put on my vehicle. Upon driving my car after the work was completed, I noticed a horrible "knocking" like sound. A couple of days later, my husband took my car back to the Muffler Man and the manager Matt took one look at the Strutts and knew right away what the problem was. He said that the Mechanic Dave put 2 left Strutts on. So we had to order another part, mor... view moree money upfront and wait again. Upon our 2nd trip to pick up my car, the mechanic Dave charged us AGAIN for the labor!! When my husband pointed out that it was the mechanic`s fault and not ours, Dave said to take it up with the manager Matt since Matt did the original installation. Funny how the manager originally told us that Dave did the original work. Do you see a little FINGER POINTING here and NO responsibility??? And get this... Matt is currently on vacation!! What "real" mechanic doesn`t know the difference between the car parts he`s using? Also, why wouldn`t a certified-responsible mechanic test drive the vehicle he just fixed? If that had happened, he would of noticed the problem immediately. It`s sad that this is a local business that can`t be trusted. We don`t have money to "throw around" and we definately shouldn`t have to pay for someone else`s mistake. Especially if we "think" we`re paying for a knowledgeable mechanic and service from a well known company like Muffler Man. You can count on the fact that we will let every one know to steer clear of this place. Is my car even safe? Feeling Helpless as a consumer...............
