Used to be their biggest fan, but now would NOT recommend it
Back in 2009, I was thrilled to find Kehoe. But something has changed. I took my car in for repair. One thousand dollars worth of work to repair brakes, headlights, a/c, transmission, and tire. Brakes are at the second time back at the shop. Worse than they were before, and at times make an ear piercing and loud screech. My headlights and a/c never were fixed, but when I asked about it, I was told it mu... view morest be because a different problem with my headlights and a/c that would cost more to fix. And, to top it off, at my last oil change, the mechanic said there was no way anyone changed my transmission fluid within the year. So for $1,000 I got exactly nothing-- except the hassle of bringing the car back several times to try and stop the ear piercing screech.

Seven times...and counting
I had to take my car in seven times for a straightforward repair while they awaited parts. They refused to wait for the parts to arrive and call me; instead, they made me come back each day, assuring me it would be there. After they installed the part, I had more problems than ever before. They are friendly, but I do not feel confident in their knowledge about cars. Save yourself time and money and take your business... view more elsewhere.

Had car there for the same repair three times!
I use to bring my cars to their shop for repairs and tires. Had several leaks in one car which they said they fixed but when I got home notice a few days later it still leaked. Brought it back and they charged me again saying wasn`t the same leak. Again, several days later, the leak reappeared in the same area under the car. I said this is the third time, enough is enough, I didn`t have three leaks and you can`t be... view more serious about charging me again. They then told me they couldn`t fix it and didn`t want to work on my car anymore. Went to another shop and they fixed the leak that I paid Kehoe two times to fix.

DISHONEST SERVICE
I brought my car to Kehoe in January because I needed to get my battery replaced. I left the car there for a few hours, and went back expecting to have a new battery (I thought the bill would probably be around 100-125), so when I got a bill of over $400 I was a little bit shocked. The guy explained to me that I needed to cables and bolts connecting to my battery and that cost extra to replace. I told him I wish he h... view moread called and asked about replacing the cables since I only wanted a new battery, but I paid the bill and left.
Four months later in May, my car wouldn`t start so I checked the battery and tried to jump the car. It still wouldn`t start so I called AAA and had them come out. The mechanic said the battery was fine but the cables were corroded and needed to be tightened. I asked the mechanic why brand new battery cables would corrode so quickly after I just replaced them and he told me those were original cables and bolts with the car, and nothing but the battery had been replaced. The AAA mechanic nicely (and for free) cleaned the old cables with a brush and solvent. I showed him the bill from Kehoe, and he too was outrageous because they did not perform the work that showed up on the bill, they only replaced the battery. He told me to check the AAA website since they endorse honest car repair shops. Additionally, this month I had a separate mechanic look at the cables again (and the Kehoe bill) and he tightened the old cables for me (when my car did not start again) and told me that these cables were original with the car, and were definitely not replaced 6 months ago.
I will not be going back ever to Kehoe. I would recommend that other people do the same.

Honest
Thomas is the man! I came in with a specific car complaint that another mechanic was going to charge me 500 dollars more for parts and labor. Thomas ordered the parts, but when he checked out my car, he said I wouldn`t need the replacement for a long time and hated to sell me something I didn`t need. My car was acting up, but had stopped making any of the noises so I decided to wait on getting anything done since ... view morenothing specific seemed to be wrong anymore...I feel like in New Orleans just a change in weather can make your car go crazy for a day or two, so its nice to find a mechanic you can trust. He also redid all my breaks and did a great job for way cheaper than anywhereI could find, including out of state shops.

Beware!
I came in with a sporadic oil pressure alarm at low rpm on the dashboard. They said that the oil pump should be replaced and I went along. They kept the car literally for weeks, with various excuses. During this time, after several instances of hard questioning, I became very alarmed about their abilities. Finally they said they had finished. I ultimately found out that this repair was unnecessary and didn`t eve... view moren address the likely cause of the problem (very minor). They caused various incidental damages to the car in the course of the job. A possibly major damage is a now present oil leak in the engine (never leaked oil before) due to an improperly made seal. (It would cost approaching $1000 to re-do properly at another shop, due to the labor intensiveness of getting at it.) Thus I lost the use of the car for a half month, spent over $1000 for an unneeded repair and the poorly done job has at least somewhat (maybe more) compromised the car. I had experienced several similarly clueless/useless service visits on minor problems with another car earlier, so I bear plenty of blame for coming back and then authorizing a major job that was not needed. These people are nice, not dishonest. They`re just in over their heads. They could tell you that you need a major job when you don`t and then botch it, or botch a minor job leading to major consequences. I`ve learned the hard way never, never to return, in spite of friendliness and convenient location if you`re Uptown.

Highly recommended
Exceptional service, one does not expect such prompt, personal, friendly and affordable service from auto repair shops these days. Keep up the good work.

Saved me a ton of money repairing my car!
I went to Firestone and got an estimate for $988 to repair my car. I heard about Kehoe and went there (which is right by Tulane where I go to school). They determined that some of the stuff did not need to be done. They saved me $700 dollars! Thanks Kehoe!!

Went out of their way!!!!
When I moved here from New Jersey I was far from home and didn`t want to hear the ""I told you so"" from my dad who begged me not to buy my car. So, when things went wrong I asked a friend who had been living in the city for a few years advice about a reliable repair shop. She guided me to Kehoe because her boss and long time New Orleanian always takes her cars there. I`m not going to lie, I did have to wait, ... view morebut I didn`t mind seeing as the staff seemed to know the customers by name, which I immediately took comfort in (Why would what appeared to be intelligent, well-spoken people return to a con artist? ) Sure enough, my car was fixed without problems, the price was much cheaper than Pep Boys, and the staff even helped me with leads on local neighborhoods and eateries. Thanks MIchelle- cool assistant girl!!! My dog really appreciated biscuits too!!! Go here!!! These people hooked me up!
