Dishonest Service Department
They wanted $1,200 to replace my rack and pinion for a noisy power steering pump. I was weary and took it to another local Honda dealer who properly diagnosed the issue, and the cost was $130. Also, my wife was in the shop over a year ago and they recommended that she needed a new air filter. I had just replaced it a few thousand miles before and complained. Their service manager called me back and said that they... view more made the recommendation based on the mileage of the car and didn`t actually look at the air filter. He said that had my wife chosen to replace the filter, they wouldn`t have replaced it had they seen it was new. Yeah right ... should have learned my lesson after this experience. Beware of taking your car here for service.

Found a Great Local Honda Dealer south of Atlanta
I started my search to replace my Honda Civic by contacting almost all of the Atlanta Honda dealers via email. The first response was from Sons Honda, and they were very close to my home in McDonough. I clarified my request and I had a very competitive quote ( very, very competitive honda quote I later found out) from Kevin and LaTanya.
By the time I got there the next day (Saturday) I had a bunch of form letters... view more from other Atlanta honda dealers.
When I got there the Honda Accord to look at and I thought that I wanted was ready up front. I was introduced to Jason, the USed Car Manager, who was going to appraise my trade. Now I spent the night before doing my homework, I knew what Honda civic trade in value was from edmunds and blackbook and even had a guaranteed trade offer on the Honda from autotrader. Jason came back with a number that was higher than all those and allowed me to even up grade the new honda accord that I wanted.
Kevin and I worked out the Honda Finance new car loan with Kim in the Sons honda loan office. The bottom line, I got a better Honda trade-in than I expected, I got more of a new Honda Accord (now with leather) and found a Honda dealer closer to my home and I don`t have to drive north, closer to an Atlanta Honda dealer anymore. This is a brand new Honda dealer that I didn`t even know was here and this close.
I`m happy and I will be back to service my Accord for Oil Changes and Honda maintenance.

Pretty good experience
Well. I have to say this was completely not the experience I was expecting to receive. I thought I would be bounced around from salesman to salesman, and manager to manager, but my transaction was a clean, fun, and smooth process. I requested internet prices from multiple dealers ( trying to be diligent with pricing research). Sons was 1 of 3 that responded back within an hour with a price quote. After the price quot... view moree, I received a phone call from the internet manager. He told me he could have the vehicle ready for delivery and all I needed to do was print my quote and bring it with me to the dealer. I live close to the dealer and he told me the price was lower than anybody because they wanted to be up front and be aggressive with earning my business because of my proximity to the dealer.. It made sense, so I allowed him to set the appointment. I arrived at the dealer the next evening.. the internet Manager set me up with his salesman.. Salesman was a little boring, but kept the process moving without much wait time.. They had two vehicles they would honor the price on... I test drove one... LOVED IT!! The salesman said he needed to start the paperwork process. ( I was thinking,... ok, here is the catch.. now here comes the bait and switch, etc)... The salesman came back with the price. It was different than the price I received online.... I informed him I had special pricing from the internet manager.. I showed him the email... he took it to the sales manager... and they honored the price. That simple!! I loved it and felt relieved.. I thought for sure the battle was coming... but it never came... While doing paperwork they offered me options and accessories to buy for my car... I declined.... and they were still professional and nice... I went through the entire process thinking the games would be started from them in 5 minutes... I spent two hours there and the games never started. They were completely honest and seemed to be determined to earn my business the right way... I would recommend this dealer to anyone.. I would also say... START WITH A INTERNET QUOTE and take it with you... These guys want to do business....

Did not honor price quote
We had the unfortunate experience of receiving a price quote from Sons Honda (105 Sons Dr, McDonough, GA) via email on Wednesday, August 18th which was then not honored when we were ready to purchase the vehicle (2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L) on Saturday, August 21st. We received the price quote of $29,600 ?ˆ?out the door?ˆ? by Erma Patterson; when we called Saturday morning to coordinate with Erma, we were informed she was o... view moren vacation and were connected with Andre Smith. I informed Andre that Erma had quoted us a price of $29,600 out the door on this vehicle, which was the only remaining 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L in stock so there was no confusion about which vehicle we were referencing. Andre specifically said ?ˆ?if you received the quote via email from Erma, I can pull it up on her sent emails and we will honor that price?ˆ?. This prompted my wife, 2 ?? year old son, and myself to drive 25 miles south from Atlanta to Sons Honda to purchase the vehicle.

After agreeing to purchase the vehicle, Andre came back with a price not equal to Erma?ˆ™s email quote of $29,600. Andre was able to finally find the email I was referencing and printed it out, validating that the price quote was originally sent from Sons Honda. Andre then left for approximately 20 minutes, eventually returning with Melvin Dott. Melvin then proceeded to inform me that they would not honor this price quote and said ?ˆ?people lose their jobs?ˆ? over situations like this. Melvin also kept asking me what was the lowest price quote I received from other dealers and kept inferring that I should have know this quote was too low.

Melvin positioned the situation as our fault (the customer) for not realizing the price quote was too low and that because of the situation, Erma or Andre could potentially be fired. What Melvin failed to recognize was the ultimate decision to not honor the documented price quote was solely his decision and that he, not Erma or Andre, was accountable for this decision. The impact of Sons Honda losing business by this story being posted online and with the Better Business Bureau is directly associated to Melvin ?ˆ“ if the dealership doesn?ˆ™t sell 2-3 cars now because of this story, that monetary lose is Melvin?ˆ™s fault.

Erma potentially made a mistake by giving us a wrong price quote. Andre made a mistake by saying Sons Honda would honor any price quote emailed from their system and not verifying the quote when we called and spoke to him. But Melvin made the conscious decision to not honor the quote, blame the customer for the situation, therefore jeopardizing the integrity of the dealership. This was an extremely disappointing situation and our objective is to communicate our side of the story, so Erma isn?ˆ™t fired for a decision made by Melvin to not honor a documented price quote.

BEWARE OF THEIR USED CARS
My husband and I recently bought a vehicle from Sons and our sales man was great. However, the manager is shady. We came to look at the Tacoma, but noticed a 2007 Honda Risgeline that we decided to test drive. As soon as we started it i[ their were two lights (a malfunction and check engine light) that got our attention on the dashboard. It drove great though so we took it directly to their service dep`t only to ... view morefind it was a serious issue with the catalytic converter and would cost $1500 plus to repair. So of course we did not want it. They reset the lights and had the car back on the display for sale by the time we got back from having the Tacoma looked at by our mechanic. Very shady and exactly why used car lots get bad reputations. Shame on them!
