I had problems with a 2002 PT cruiser, I lost coolant very rapidly and after driving I would hear boiling liquid which led to the car overheating. I brought the car for inspection at Beach Technical Service in Santa Rosa beach hoping they would be able to help but I was wrong, not only did they not fix the problem they continuously attempted to rip me off. I explained the problems and they said the radiator cooling f... view morean motor needed to be replaced for the price of $477.76 . I authorized the repair and expected that the problems will be resolved. Later they told me that I have a problem with the spark plugs and valve cover gasket and needed to be replaced for another $331.98 and I authorized this as well trusting the mechanics expertise. Later, they told my wife that the timing belt needs to be changed. After she said we weren?ˆ™t interested, they told her that if she doesn?ˆ™t, the car will break down in 3 weeks! (gave us a price assessment of an additional $1121.06) . I knew from then that something was ?ˆ?fishy?ˆ? since I had knowledge that timing belts are recommended to be replaced after x amount of miles but to give an estimate of exactly when it will cause a breakdown is impossible to determine. I called a couple other mechanics and they verified my suspicions. After picking up the car we drove to Pensacola and we were surprised to see that not only was our problem not fixed, it worsened. We called to notify them and They told us to bring it back to take a look. We drove back from Pensacola dropped the car and waited for them to let us know what is wrong. The following day they told us the head gasket blew up (before the car was worked on by them) and needs to be repaired. I asked them if they started working on it and they said they are working on a price assessment for us. I argued that I paid over $800 to repair a problem and it was not fixed and that I expect them to do it free of charge. After talking to the mechanic, the women who answered the phone and the manager Mr. Matt Jr, I was informed that I have to pay full price for the repair and gave me a price assessment of an additional $1700 for repairing the head gasket and changing the timing belt which according to them must be done (after waiting for 2 days for a price assessment and calling their office several times). I didn?ˆ™t trust them anymore and took the car for a second opinion with another mechanic. It took the other mechanic 5 min to see that the problem was with the thermostat not working and the coolant cap not being air tight, which are basic things to check in a problem such as this. The other mechanic fixed my car and the problem was resolved and all of this cost me only $80 !!!. In addition to the lie that beach technical service told us about the timing belt, the other mechanic said that there is no way that the head gasket blew at all!!. I am still wondering if the previous work they have done on my car was needed at all or was just another scam trying to take advantage of costumers who don?ˆ™t have the knowledge to avoid such unjust treatment. If beach technical services had their way, I would have spent over $2500 without having my problem even fixed! This is the first time I ever wrote a bad review about anything but the truth must come out. DON?ˆ™T TRUST TECHNICAL BEACH SERVICE, THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL, THEY ARE OVERPRICED, THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU, THEY LIE, THEY ARE DISHONEST!
