Welcome, bidders! This is my 1960 Mercury Monterey Custom two-door hardtop.
I've been debating whether or not to sell my car for a long time now, but it's finally really time to let her go. With two toddlers and a hectic work schedule, I just haven't had much time to do anything with the car. What I HAVE done is the following:
-Installed RideTech (Air Ride Technologies) front and rear CoolRide airbag suspension kits, with upgraded Slam Specialties SS-6 airbags up front for faster lift at lower pressures
-Installed NEW dearched leaf springs at rear with new bushings
-Found and installed a rare set of 14x6 Keystone Kustomag wheels with whitewall tires
-Collected lots of random parts, which will be included with the purchase of the car
The car does NOT currently run. That's how I bought it, and I've never looked into why it doesn't run since I was going to install a Ford FE engine anyway. It could be a simple matter, and it does look like the engine may have been rebuilt at some point based on the fresh-looking paint on the engine block, but I can't know for sure. The brakes will also have to be attended to, maybe new lines, and there is a small rust spot in one rear quarter panel, but it is minor. There are NO other rust issues on the car. All glass is perfect except for windshield, which is still available new. I just wanted to make sure to mention it so that there are no surprises.
I really do believe that the car could be back on the road in a few weekends in the hands of someone who actually had the time to put into it.
I can assist with loading the car onto a trailer or transporter with some notice, as I'll have to arrange to take some time off of work to help out.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems
Sun, 10 Mar 2013The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.
