1995 Lamborghini Diablo Vt Quicksilver Exhaust on 2040-cars

Year:1995 Mileage:18006
Location:

Jefferson, Maryland, United States

Up for auction is my 1995 Diablo.  I have owned this car for 2 1/2 years.  This car is a real head turner and I have had a lot of fun taking it to car shows and going for rides with the wife or kids.  The passenger side visor has been signed by Valentino Balboni (see pics).  If you don't know who that is, maybe you should be looking at another brand of car. :)  The car is always garaged and covered in the garage.  Since I purchased the Diablo, it has only been driven in good weather and always stored for the winter.   I am not a mechanic, but I will explain to the best of my knowledge the condition of the car and equipment.  This auction includes an all-weather 5 layer Mosom Plus custom fit car cover from CoverKing I purchased for $250 (see pic).  I will also include the original fuel pressure regulators and a rebuilt clutch slave cylinder that I keep as a backup.  The complete factory tool kit and tire inflator with cases are also included in the front storage area.   Both owner's manuals are included along with the original Lamborghini key and key fob, and a spare key.

The odometer currently reads 28977 kilometers which converts to about 18,000 miles.
The engine oil and filter were changed this week.
Over this past winter I had the clutch fluid and brake system flushed.  The brake pads appear almost new.
This winter the transmission fluid along with the front and rear differential fluid was also changed.
The Diablo spent the winter at Exotic Car Specialties in Sterling, VA.  Along with the fluid changes, they hooked the car up to a Lamborghini service computer and tuned/checked all of the engine sensors including TPS, idle air bypass, fuel pressure, etc.
New front brake duct hoses installed in November.
Installed UHMW plastic skid plate under the front bumper to prevent damage to the fiberglass (see pic).
I had Murcielago door struts installed so the doors now slowly raise on their own after the latch is released instead of having to pull them up. Probably my favorite modification.
Last year I had an adjustable fuel pressure regulator installed to help the fuel mixture with the aftermarket exhaust.
Complete paint correction buffing and Opti-Coat applied summer 2013.
Quicksilver muffler delete pipe was installed last year.  Car still has all 4 cats installed.  The car is loud now, but not obnoxious (in my opinion).  For more noise you'll have to do a rear cat delete.
New clutch slave cylinder and clutch rod installed last year.
Tires were replaced when I purchased the car in 2012.  Plenty of tread left.
Battery was also replaced in late 2012 with an Optima YellowTop.
According to receipts I received with the car, the last major service was in July of 2010 totaling over $16,000.

With the installation of aftermarket exhaust, the Check Engine Light on the left or right bank will often light due to the engine running slightly lean.  Sometimes it'll go weeks without going on, other times it'll light within a day or two of reset.  The car still runs fine and sounds great with the Quicksilver exhaust installed.  Consider the CELs a known issue as I don't want to hear about them after the sale.
The front and rear "bumpers" have both received resprays in the past.  The front, while passable to drive around, is certainly not concours level work.  The rest of the paint work appears to be original.
The carpet, dash, and seats all seem to be in excellent condition.  There is some slight wear on the red piping on the driver's side seat bolster (see pic).
This car is now over 19 years old and does show minor wear along with very minor scratches and stone chips in the paint.  That being said, it is in excellent shape for its age.
From under the car, there appears to be minor "weeping" of oil around the oil pan.  No dripping though, and my garage floor stays oil free.

The A/C blows ice cold.  The car has the original Alpine cassette stereo with a factory 6 CD changer behind the passenger seat.  I don't use it much, but the CDs I have in there play fine.  If I were going to be using the radio a lot, I would probably install something a little more modern with Bluetooth, Sirius XM, and MP3 capability.  Since the car was only used for short trips, the factory system served me fine.  All of the warning lights appear to be operational on the dash, but one of the dash lights behind the tachometer appears to be burnt out.

The starting price of the auction is the reserve price.  Please don't bother emailing me with low-ball offers.  My grandmother doesn't need an operation. My house isn't about to be foreclosed.  My kids are already out of college.  In other words, I don't "need" to sell this car.  If it doesn't sell, I'll be more than happy to keep it for awhile.  The value of these Diablos is only going up.  Countach prices are through the roof and the Diablo stock available is very limited, which makes it a good car to own right now.  Please don't email me asking "How much would it take to end the auction early?".  If you want to throw me a SERIOUS number, then go ahead.  Otherwise, I'm happy to let the auction play out.   If you want to have a pre-purchase inspection done, please make arrangements to have it done BEFORE the auction ends.  If you're the high bidder, you've bought the car.  All inspection fees and shipping fees are the responsibility of the buyer or potential buyer.  I will assist in shipping any way I can.  The car is located in Jefferson, Maryland, just outside of Frederick in zip code 21755.  Please read the payment instructions carefully before bidding.  I want to protect the buyer, but I also need to look out for myself.  Sorry to sound so crass, but I've been burned by non-paying bidders before.

I love this car.  It pulls like a freight train and sounds beautiful.  I purchased this car with the intention of keeping it for a few years and then passing it on to a new owner (and making room for something different).  With that being said, this will probably be my last super exotic.  To me the Diablo is the top of the mountain.  This was on my "bucket list" and I'm glad to have owned it.  It's an almost 20 year old car that draws a crowd wherever it goes.  When you need gas (which is quite often), leave yourself plenty of time at the gas station for picture takers and people who just want to chat.  I've never received a traffic citation in the Diablo, but I've been pulled over more than once.  People just want to get a closer look at the car.

If there are any particular pictures you'd like, please send me a message.  Happy bidding!

Lamborghini to announce new Cabrera before Christmas

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

After ten long and sleek years of production, Lamborghini recently built its last Gallardo. But don't expect the Bolognese automaker to go without an entry-level model for long.
A few days ago, Lamborghini started teasing the Cabrera, as the Gallardo's successor is expected to be called. Now the latest intel suggests that Sant'Agata will announce the first details of its next ten-cylinder supercar before Christmas ahead of the car's official unveiling sometime in the new year.
The Cabrera is expected to follow a similar mid-engine, all-wheel-drive layout as the Gallardo it replaces, only this time producing 600 or more horsepower from its upgraded 5.2-liter V10 engine.

Party sponsored by Lamborghini tried to airlift yacht into Austin lake for F1 race

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

This was the kind of understatement we didn't expect to encounter in the Lone Star State: on our way into Austin to attend the Grand Prix of the Americas, the man sitting next to us on the plane - an Austinite born and raised - said, "There's gonna be a lot of wealthy people here." You know, as if Texas didn't have its fair share already.
Wealthy people need wealthy things to do and not-as-wealthy people to arrange such things for them. Case in point is My Yacht Club, which follows the Formula 1 parade and other rah-rah events around the globe, hosting guests and parties on yachts. In Austin the event group has had to change its schtick; there's no way to navigate one 150-foot motor yacht into Austin's Lady Bird Lake. MYC principal Nicholas Frankl told KUT News, "We spoke to the Army Air Corps. They couldn't lift it." We believe he meant the Army Corps of Engineers, but no matter, they couldn't lift it either.
So MYC has switched to a land-lubbers venue, The Long Center where Ballet Austin, the opera and the symphony perform. In case you readers are worried about how guests will manage without chiseled Italian deckhands in epaulets, not only has Frankl promised that "the elements of decadence and luxury and coolness and exclusivity are all there," guests will get to guzzle 24-karat gold-infused champagne. Because the stars at night just aren't as big and bright without it, obviously.

Lamborghini Aventador goes floral to match LeBron's new Nikes

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

If you're in Miami and want to rent some exotic wheels, the folks over at Lou La Vie can hook you up with a Ferrari, a Porsche or a Rolls-Royce, among the dozen exotics they have on offer. You might think that someone with as much cash and flash as LeBron James may not need their services - in fact he gave away the car he got when he was named MVP - but the Miami Heat power forward has turned to Lou La Vie for a special ride to match his shoes.
Crafted in partnership with Nike, Toys for Boys Miami and Rich B Caliente, this one-off Lamborghini Aventador Roadster is the recipient of a special floral print to match the pattern on the inside of the new LeBron 11 kicks. The car was unveiled last night at a private event in Miami (which you can see in the minute-long video below) where the shoes were launched for the first time. Lets just hope that, after lacing up his new kicks, LeBron doesn't try to jump this Lambo at speed like Kobe (sorta) did with that Aston Martin.
