Restored Vintage Shriner Mini 1916 Ford Model T Roadster Texaco Pickup Go Kart on 2040-cars
Concord, New Hampshire, United States
Fantastic recreation based on a 1960's McDonough Industries Tin Lizzy Mini Model T based Go Kart made popular by the Shriners use in parades for many years. These cars were often given away in promotional contests by companies to sell their goods.
Found in a barn in New Hampshire in Fall of 2013 and restored spring of 2014. This little car has gone through a complete tear down and cleaning of every component of which there are many. This car is very detailed down to the front suspension. Axles were stripped and rebuilt and serviced as was the frame and transaxle. All hardware has been replaced with new brass or zinc cad plated pieces. New floorpan and engine as well as wheel bearings. Wheels serviced and hubs all rebuilt. The fiberglass fenders were stripped, cracks repaired and weak areas braced before being repainted. The new vinyl interior is very comfortable. The custom wood flat bed covers the motor nicely and provides a sturdy platform for a precious payload. The throttle is on the steering column and the handles outside the left side body operate the brake and clutch. This little car has had it all done and looks great. It drives very nicely and is easy to operate. Texaco decals are period correct and make this vehicle that much more of an eye catcher. These vehicles are getting rare and not many look this nice. Display, play, or cruise the swap. Every kids dream and there is a kid in all of us! Available to view. Please feel free to come see it. Buyer must arrange for shipping or pickup. Unique. Be a hero. |

National Geographic Channel balances Ford F-150 on four coffee mugs
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Proving that there is still something to be learned on television these days, National Geographic Channel recently introduced a new series called Duck Quacks Don't Echo. On the first episode of this science/comedy show, host Michael Ian Black proposes the idea that a truck can be supported with a ceramic coffee mug under each wheel - yes, he says that the entire weight of a truck can be balanced on just four coffee mugs.
Looking to find out whether this is fact or myth, the show uses a regular cab Ford F-150, weighing in at 4,800 pounds, and four average coffee mugs. Lowered onto the mugs, the idea is quickly put to the test. Can the cups hold up under 4,800 pounds? If so, what, exactly, would it take to break them? Scroll down below to find out.
2015 Ford Mustang will tell authorities how you crashed and if you were belted [w/video]
Sat, 28 Jun 2014When the 2015 Ford Mustang hits dealers, it will be with a new batch of features that will power up Sync's 911 Assist feature, and provide an even greater degree of information to first responders in the event of an accident.
911 Assist will already make a phone call, via a Bluetooth-connected phone, should you bin your car. The automatic message to first responders is a pre-recorded blurb from Ford. With the new enhancements, though, emergency personnel can learn about the maximum change in velocity and whether the crash involved a front, rear, side or a rollover impact. 911 Assist will also send information about how many seat belts were in use and if airbags deployed, allowing more accurate dispatch of resources.
"Sync will only broadcast relevant information to save time, and it constructs a very efficient message for the operator," said David Hatton, the global project leader with Ford Connected Services. "After the introductory message, the voice line opens automatically and occupants can speak directly with the operator via Sync's hands-free functionality."
Ford pits The Stig against Gran Turismo 6 in Focus ST Goodwood run
Thu, 03 Jul 2014The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world great automotive gatherings. So, it was the perfect event for Ford to give the refreshed 2015 Focus ST its world debut in front of a loving public. It even surprised us with a new diesel-powered version, as well.
The Blue Oval really put its focus on making the ST a better driver for this refresh. It left its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder alone to still pump out a respectable 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The changes like a retuned front suspension, electric power steering and improved interior made the hot hatch an even better place to spend time behind the wheel.
To prove that the Focus ST is still as potent as ever, Ford set up a one-on-one race up the Goodwood Hill. But instead of putting the two cars side-by-side, former Stig from Top Gear UK, Ben Collins, piloted the real model up the course, and his rival drove the virtual version in Gran Turismo 6. The two hot hatches set off at the same time to see whether reality could beat the virtual world, and the finish was actually extremely close. Scroll down to watch the video and find out the winner of this battle at Goodwood.
