I am re-listing my 1961 Ford F-100 truck with a lowered reserve. I have completed the following work: the new headliner will be replaced by auction end, replaced sun visors, battery, battery cables, new battery hold down bracket, driver side arm rest, new Coker truck tires, sand blasted Ford wheels painted in the correct Air Force blue, installed excellent painted correct Ford hubcaps, new lug nuts on all four wheels, new reproduction rubber floor mat, new reproduction chrome outside mirror. I have done some touch up painting on the body to add color to grey primer areas. Included in the sale of this truck are four custom wheels and tires with over 50% tread remaining. I have included a picture of the wheels and tires. Also included are oak bed rails as shown in one of the photographs. I have cleaned and detailed the engine compartment. This truck runs excellent and stops well. You can drive it right now. The steering is somewhat hard at this point and I would recommend that the steering gear box be rebuilt or replaced. The windshield has a small crack on the drivers side but it is not in the field of view. In addition, there are a few rock chips in the glass, nothing serious. The engine runs cool and the instruments work with the exception of the odometer. It broke a couple of months ago so the mileage is slightly higher than 48,303. Mileage appears to be original and mostly military miles. This truck could be restored, customized, make a shop truck or rat rod it. Very straight and easy restore. Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
2014 Ford Fusion to get 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder?
Tue, 09 Apr 2013Just one year after launching the all-new 2013 Fusion, Ford is reportedly set to alter the sedan's powertrain lineup with the addition of a new 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. A member of Blue Oval Forums apparently got their hands on the ordering guide for the 2014 model year Fusion, and this 1.5-liter mill is set to be introduced with late availability.
This lines up with other news about the Chinese-market Mondeo being offered with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost - a derivative of the 1.0-liter triple that will come to North America under the hood of the Fiesta (note: the 1.0 is also offered in the current Euro-spec Mondeo). In the Chinese application, the larger three-pot engine produces 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, which is very close to the current 1.6-liter inline-four's output numbers of 178 hp and 184 lb-ft.
What's interesting, however, is that the 1.6-liter engine will reportedly still be offered in the Fusion, but only with the six-speed manual transmission. The smaller 1.5-liter EcoBoost will only be mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic, and will feature start/stop. This means that while the 1.5 is slightly down on power compared to the 1.6, it could easily improve fuel economy numbers, allowing the Fusion to regain the title of having the best mileage in the segment, likely besting the 38 miles per gallon of the Nissan Altima. Currently, the Fusion 1.6 is rated at 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
Roush getting back into sport compact business with Focus ST mods [w/video]
Wed, 29 May 2013Roush Performance offers a whole raft of parts for folks looking to tune their Ford Mustang and F-150 models, and now Focus owners can start getting in on the hotted-up action, too. Owners of the 2012-13 Focus and 2013 Focus ST can now get a Roush cold-air intake system, and ST owners can also opt for a high-performance cat-back exhaust.
Although all of these components are now available for order, the parts will ship sometime in July; no word yet on pricing. Down the road, Roush will also offer styling upgrades for the Focus as well as performance tuning upgrades such as engine controller, suspension, wheels and tires.
