I have owned this truck several years and due to financial reasons just pulled it out of the barn last week and need to sell it.  In 2011 I cleaned the fuel tank and installed a disc brake conversion to the steer axle and had a machine shop make new kingpins and I installed them.  The truck ran and drove and I put it back in the barn where it sat until last week.  I got it out, put in fresh gas and a battery and it took off as usual.  The 223 straight six does not smoke but has blow by.  The three speed column shift and clutch work exactly as they should and are very smooth and quiet.  Everything is original except the kingpins and brakes but I have the original drum brakes that go with the truck.  It is a true survivor especially for the midwest.  It has been inside the last 40 years.  The guy before me started a body restoration which he never completed.  The interior and all glass is prisitine.  Original floor mats.  All lights are there but may not be working.  It is truly a complete, straight original truck ready for restoration.  Disc brakes are not plumbed in so truck is not roadworthy but the truck lot drives.  Remember, its a little stiff and crusty from storage all those years.  By VIN this truck was built in Chicago in April, 1961 and is within the first 500 unibodies ever made.  Unibody was a failure for Ford so they went back to the two-piece cab-bed models a few years later.  This is an extraodinary truck as it has never been in a crash or overloaded and entirely intact.  The tailgate even works great.  Call with questions.  765-437-39five8.  I have a clear indiana title and will help you or your shipper load.  Low reserve.  I need to sell.  Thanks for your interest.

Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.

This unique '64 Mustang was Edsel Ford II's first car

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

You probably had the same dream when you were a teenager. Your sixteenth birthday is coming up, or Christmas, or maybe both, and all you want is a muscle car to call your own. That dream has come true for some, and one of them was none other than Edsel Ford II.
Henry Ford's great grandson turned 16 on December 27, 1964 - two days after Christmas and eight months after the original Mustang went on sale. And that's just what was waiting for him in the driveway, courtesy of his father (and reigning chief executive) Henry Ford II.
The specially-prepared pony car had a pearlescent cream paintjob with narrow blue racing stripes, functional hood scoop, chrome trim, Euro-spec fender-mounted mirrors, a blue leather and aluminum interior, a monogrammed fuel cap... and a 289-cubic-inch V8 under the hood.

Ford Ka Concept shown in Brazil, could enter production by 2014

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

The Ford Ka (pronounce it like a Bostonian saying "car") is the Blue Oval's sub-Fiesta offering in a number of markets that aren't North America. It's been a staple in Europe since it launched in 1996 and in South America since 1997, where it's enjoyed quite a bit of popularity as an affordable, efficient city car.
The European and South American models grew apart over the years, until Europe ended up with a Fiesta-inspired car and Brazil retained a more evolved version of the original Ka's styling. With this Ka Concept, which is really a concept in name only, Ford is previewing a Ka not just for the European market, but as the brand's new, global small car. With city car sales expected to grow dramatically in coming years and the ever increasing price of fuel, Ford's move to get a new, competitive car into the market on a global level isn't surprising.
Wearing Ford's new, familial grille, the Ka Concept features the same crisp, sculpted sheetmetal that's adorned the Fusion and Fiesta. Developed in-house by Ford Brazil, a production version could launch by 2014, according to Ford's press release. It's unclear what engines will sit under this car's hood, although we'd bet the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Fiesta will be available at some point.
